Chapter Forty Nine: Hogwarts Forever
The next morning goes by rather quickly. Breakfast is at six am and small because we have a graduation celebration right after breakfast and before the leaving feast. Ron and Harry were invited to attend the celebrations even though they weren't graduating, but most likely because of what they did during the second wizarding world war. They took Ginny's kid home after.
During the graduation speech some awards were given out including one for Ginny. She was given an award for being a fill in teacher. When she walked up the the head table to receive it there was much applause for this truly was very good at teaching us how to properly produce a patronus. Heck she even taught Draco even though it turned out to be a bouncing ferret.
After the graduation we all go back to our common rooms for a couple hours and pack up our things. Draco says he'll pack up the Room of Requirements so I can go to the common room one last time. Zakrey is following me with Estella- Rose and Saros in his arms. Ginny is also with me.
"Password?" The fat lady asks once we're outside the common room.
"Errr— drapple was it?" Ginny asks.
"Correct," and the portrait swings open.
"What is that supposed to be?" I ask confused. I'd never come across that word in all my reading.
"Oh I heard Harry Potter talking to Ronald Weasley about it and thought it would make a good password. Now am I just going to hang out here all day or are you coming in?" After some quick, muttered apologies to the fat lady we clamber into the common room. I can see for about a second and then I'm mobbed by people. Zakrey had put the babies on the floor and now is standing guard.
"The children the children look at the children!"
"Aww so cute Hermione"
"She's beautiful"
"Look at the red hair!"
"That ones a Malfoy"
"What are their names?"
"Yeah, what are they?"
"EVERYBODY QUIET!" Ginny shouts at the top of her voice. The second she shouts that a hush falls over the room and you could hear a pin drop. It's like that for about five seconds, then the whine of a baby started.
"Oh oh shhhh mistress Estella- Rose. It's ok. Zakrey is here. Zakrey is here. Shhh." Zakrey comforts her and he's gotten quite good at it during all those long hours of babysitting for me and Draco. Estella - Rose stops crying and hoops him on the nose. She laughs and so does Zakrey.
"Awwww that's so cute," the common room choruses in unison. Saros, who had been watching his sister play with Zakrey for a few minutes rolls around to get himself closer to Zakrey. He and Estella - Rose take turns 'booping and giggling' a game Zakrey seemed to love to play with them.
Their audience was dying from the cuteness. Everyone seemed to be squealing, hugging eachother or staring. It was quite amazing and since I'd never had any siblings it was quite different and amazing to me. I looked over to Ginny. She was watching them with tears in her eyes.
"Come on," I whisper in her ear and we climb the staircase to our dorm for one final time. Together we clean out every corner like house elves. Once we're done, "it looks so empty."
"Yeah," Ginny replies sadly, "I'm really gonna miss this everything about this place."
"Even History of Magic?" I ask jokingly.
"Well, perhaps not that—"
"Or Snape's potion essays?" The second I say it I wish I hadn't. Her face falls for just a second but then she laughs.
"No I won't miss those. I barely scraped an A most of the time. Oh— and how he taught Harry," her final word becomes a laugh and we spend a while laughing about old memories of Hogwarts, especially Harry versus Snape.
After a while Parvati came up and stuck her head through the door. "It's time for the feast. We don't want to miss McGonagall's final speech. She can't give us detention but she does help us get a job and she isn't going to recommend us to the ministry if we missed her speech." She then races out and we follow close behind.

"Another year gone," McGonagall starts the way Dumbledore once did,"and I must say I am very proud of you all. I also think you would agree that this is the best year we've had in a while."
"It's because Potter isn't here," a rude Slytherin shouts. McGonagall doesn't say anything. She just pulls out her wand, waves it, and he goes flying out the window.
"There," she continues,"while Potter has a habit of bringing trouble wherever he goes, we have to be seriously grateful for him. Without him, Lord Voldemort would not be vanquished." A shudder goes around the room at his name.
"Now into house points. Slytherin is in last place with fifty six points." The Slytherins all glare at Ginny who decides at that moment that the ceiling is quite interesting. I laugh to myself because I know she made it her personal goal to get rid of as many Slytherin house points as possible. "Third place is Hufflepuff with three hundred and twenty two points. " We all applauded politely for the Hufflepuffs. "For second place, with four hundred and fifty six—" she pauses for dramatic effect, "Gryffindor!" A roar of applause goes up from out table.
"And in first with four hundred and fifty seven points it's Ravenclaw for the house cup!" The Ravenclaw table has never been so loud. Ravenclaws are jumping up and down, hugging eachother, and screaming or crying. Neville, who was sitting with Luna at the Ravenclaw table picks her up and spins her around. She's wearing an eagle hat and it caws for the hall to hear. It's absolutely wonderful.
Snobby pops out of thin air and shouts, "I knew Ravenclaw was the best!" He gives Luna a high five and disapperates.
"I'm not done yet." McGonagall announces and the room goes quiet. " I wanted to remind all those who are coming back next year of the new program I am required to put into place." She looks around the room sadly. Then, a smile leaps onto her face. "I just wanted to congratulate the seventh years in how much they've grown and spread equality this year." I look around and see she's right. Luna and Neville, a Ravenclaw and a Gryffindor. Dean and Seamus. And— "Draco stand up." He does and looks around worriedly. "Look at this we have a Slytherin sitting at the Gryffindor table. A Slytherin sitting at the Gryffindor table. That is something I have never seen in all my years of teaching." She starts clapping and soon everyone is applauding Draco Malfoy, the boy who made a bad choice but chose right in the end. I stand up and plant a kiss on his lips.
All of a sudden shining words appear in front of us. Peeves busts through the curtain screeching"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,"
Then we all join in,
"Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot."
After that we all raced out of the school, for the final time we rode the carriages pulled by thestrals. For the last time ever, I, Hermione Jean Granger, climbed onto the Hogwarts Express.
