Chapter Fifteen: A Very Malfoy Morning
When I woke up I decided that I was just going to do my best to avoid Malfoy. After all, we only had one class together today and that was Defense Against the Dark Arts; a class thought by Harry. I ran over to Ginny who was still sleeping and shook her awake.
"Ginny. Get up."
"WhydoIhavetogeruphermny?" She mumbled sleepily. And I thought Ginny liked to be the one to get up and wake me up.
"It's me, Hermione. Let's go down to breakfast."
"Fine." Ginny rolled over and got up. Once she had gotten dressed we left the dorm. As we were leaving the portrait hole, a voice stopped us.
"Morning Granger." It drawled. "Are we going down to breakfast now?"
"What do you mean 'we'? There is no 'we.' Just me and you." Why should I go eat breakfast with him. Ginny was my friend.
"Well it seems Granger," he continued, "that you have forgotten what McGonagall said after you became pregnant with my child. I am now forced to follow you every where, against my will, and help you out."
"Well good thing we are in different classes then." I snapped. His baby? Really?
"Well McGonafall has been kind enough to fix that up for us as well. Come on to breakfast Granger. My baby is surely starved by now." He was really pushing it. He stuck out an arm for me to hold. I hit him and marched myself down to breakfast leaving Malfoy in my dust.
Once I had entered into the Great Hall, I ran at top speed to the Gryffindor table and sat down. Ginny raced over and joined me. A moment later Malfoy walked in and looked around for me. I tried to hide my head underneath the table, but I could feel Malfoy standing next to me a few minutes later.
"Aren't you going to let me sit Granger?"he asked putting on a hurt voice.
"Fine." I said and scooted over so he could sit next to me. As I started eating the Hall started filling up with people. I was staring at the food I was attempting to eat as fast as possible. I could hear people talking about me and Malfoy.
"What the bloody hell are you doing at the Gryffindor table and even more so, with my girlfriend?" I cringed. Ron and Harry have arrived.
"Well this is sure to be interesting," Ginny said with a smirk.
"Shut up Ginny." Harry hissed. Ginny crossed both her arms and legs and glared at her boyfriend in anger.
"Potty. Weasel-King." Malfoy was obviously to show who was boss.
"It's Potter." Said Harry.
"It's Weasley." Ron was fuming now.
"Whatever." Malfoy said waving them off. "Ever since you declared Granger pregnant with my child, my life now has to change to revolve around her. It's not because I care about her Merlin's beard no! But McGonagall has forced me into spending all my time with her. Yay!" His voice was pouring with sarcasm. Then he looked at me. "Sorry Granger." He whispered to only me.
"I even have the same schedule as her." He continued. "Look. I'm not wrong." He held out the schedule for us all to see. My eyebrows shot up to my hair line. He was right! We did have all the same classes!
"What? How?" Harry was confused.
"The Headmistress set it up for us. Now of you'll excuse us please Hermione need to be off to our —" he looked down at the paper in front of him. "— charms class. Anyone knows that darling Granger doesn't like to be late." With that he grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the Great Hall, all the students watching. As I was leaving I heard Ron say to Harry —
"Did he just call Hermione 'darling'?"
"Yes Ron," he sighed. "I think he did."
When we walked into charms Professor Flitwick looked up at us and raised his eyebrows when Malfoy led me to a seat at the very front of the classroom.
"I know you like to be right at the front to get the most out of your learning experience Granger," and he smiled at me. The other students started filing in and taking the empty seats. Most of the students looked at us in shock.
"Why is he in this class,?" one girl rudely asked as I found a finger shoved in my face.
"Oh, it's nothing to worry about. She's just pregnant with my son so I get to spend all of my time with lovely Granger." And he smiled. He freaking smiled.
"Malfoy," I whisper growled the second the girl had walked away. "You are sucking this attention up through a straw and it's driving me crazy. Please show me some self respect. Also, we don't know it's a boy."
"Oh but it had better be. Or father —"
"Draco Malfoy your father is in Azkaban. Do you really think he cares. And anyways you are having your child with a mud blood so he would probably just hope it's a still birth so he doesn't have to live with the shame." I was really angry. So angry in fact that since I was holding my wand a little tornado had formed over my head.
"Granger. Your a muggle born, not a mud blood —"
"Like you cared a couple years ago when it mattered." I interrupted.
"Granger please let me speak." He grabbed my wand hand and pulled it down stopping the tornado. It was reminiscent of a time Ron was making it snow. "I want the child to be healthy. I don't care that it's a half blood anymore. I am sort of disgusted at what happened between us to make said child, but it's not because you are a muggle born. I don't care about your blood status. Mother always said to be kind to pregnant woman because they will go through more pain than I could ever imagine. I'm done. You may speak now."
I couldn't speak, I literally had nothing to say. When I came to my senses again, I looked him in the eye and said,
"Let's carry on with following the lesson shall we." He nodded his head in agreement and we went to work.
Today we were doing more non-verbal spell work and were practicing all of the spells we had learned so far non verbally. When I preformed Wingardium Leviosa, someone accidentally bumped into me and I cast the spell so strong out of my fear that I accidentally lifted Malfoy up into the air. Professor Flitwick came over when he heard the commotion.
"Miss Granger." He was trying to hide his laughter. "Interestingly powerful use of the spell considering it's your first time doing it non verbally in class. Now if you can release Mr Malfoy back to the ground safely it will be ten points for Gryffindor." Of course I released Malfoy quickly and safely and earned those points. I could feel Ron glaring from the back of the room.
