Ivy

Roman quickly fell into step with me in the hallway, shoving his phone into my line of vision. "Got this last night." He said with his mouth full. I noticed there was a half-eaten burger in his hand while he chewed and swallowed the one, he had taken a bite out off, before taking another huge bite.

I shot him a wary glance before taking his phone from his grip, reading the text message.

Private Number:

Stop trying to find answers about the Curts. They know you're close to figuring it out. Drop it, Roman. Your life is in danger.

I reread it, slowly stopping my tracks. "Do you know who sent it?" I asked, looking up at him.

He swallowed before speaking. "I tried to track it last night, but whoever sent it was too good, the only person that good has been missing since the move."

"Malcolm."

He nodded. "Question is, why would he send me that? Is he in touch with the Curts? How does he know I'm too close to figuring it all out? And most importantly, how the hell does he expect me to not dig deeper with that kind of text message?"

"If Malcolm thinks you're in danger, then you're in danger, Roman. Maybe you should dial it down a bit."

He looked at me like I was crazy. "Dial it down my ass, Ivy I'm way in too deep with this research, I can't just toss it all away, I worked overtime last night, digging deeper, and I'm gonna keep digging till I find my answers."

I frowned. "What part of your life is in danger don't you understand?"

He scoffed. "Look around you, Ivy. Every life in this dimension is in danger." He said, shoving the last piece of the burger into his mouth. I stood there, watching as he forced himself to chew, seeing as it was bigger than the last bite he had taken.

I blinked. "What are you even doing?"

He held up his palm, gesturing for me to wait. A few seconds later, he managed to speak. "Stress—eating."

I sighed, handing him back his phone as we both walked down the hallway together. "Did you speak with Fiona? How did it go?"

He swallowed. "Where's the closest vending machine?" he ignored my question, looking around. "I need sprite."

"It's not far from here, come on." I led him to the one close to the broadcast room, since I was heading there anyway, while he purchased it, I watched him. "How did it go with Fiona?" I asked again, as he popped open the sprite.

"We're breaking up." He said before bringing the can to his mouth and gulping its content down.

"Come again?"

He held up his palm again, gulping down all the contents from the can before squeezing it and throwing it to the nearby trash bin. Stiffing a burp, he grinned at me. "You were saying?"

"You're breaking up with Fiona?"

He nodded. "I'm yet to get a response to the text I sent her, so I don't know where we stand exactly but—I know where we're going to stand soon."

I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. "Wait... hold on... you broke up with Fiona, over a text?"

He nodded.

"What? I thought you were going to go fix things?"

"She's over me, Ivy."

"What do you mean by she's over you? Fiona's crazy about you, what are you talking about?"

"I know what I'm saying, trust me. I'm doing her a favor. She pities me so much that she can't actually break up with me herself... so I said, why not help her?"

I watched him carefully. "There's something you're not telling me."

He let out a breath. "It doesn't matter, Ivy. I'm honestly okay. I once made my peace with the fact that I'm not the guy who ends up getting the girl he loves, I mean look at me."

"There's nothing wrong with you, Roman."

"Really? I'm not cool, I'm nerdier than before, I'm shitty and I lose focus of what really matters half of the time, I'm a mess. Fiona deserves someone cool, someone— superior."

"You are cool. I would totally date you if I wasn't crazy about a certain boy who doesn't even remember me."

He frowned. "You would date me?"

"Yes, Roman."

"Because I'm Kyle's twin brother? We barely even look alike."

I rolled my eyes at him. "Not because you're Kyle's twin brother. Because you're you. You're smart, good looking, blue eyes, curly hair. We speak the same love language, hell—you speak the same love language as probably all the girls in this dimension and in the real earth."

He blinked. "Okay, I'm lost."

Smiling at him, I held his arm. "You're God freaking amazing, Roman. Anyone would be lucky to call you theirs. Talk to Fiona."

He sighed. "You're the biggest hyper, you know that?"

"I know that, Roman, I do. It's one of my finest qualities."

"I'll go find her, see you later."

"See ya."

I watched him disappear down the direction we had gone through, before making my way to the broadcast room.

Upon entering, I was expecting to find Ethan, but another superior stood there, inspecting the shelf. I paused in my tracks as she turned to look at me. "Oh hi!" she smiled at me.

"H-hey."

I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was. She had long black hair, a pretty diamond shape face with sharp big brown eyes. It was easy to get intimidated. Maybe the old Ivy would have gotten intimidated by how beautiful she was. "Um Ethan isn't here." I said, knowing she would probably be here looking for Ethan.

"That's pretty obvious," she grinned. "Although, it's you I've come to see. I'm Navya."

"Oh! You're the one who cloaks things..." I said, looking around me, as I wondered if anyone else was in here with us.

"Oh, don't worry, we're completely alone." She chuckled.

"Okay? Why have you come to see me? you need something to be broadcasted?" I asked her, going to my sit and dropping my bag on the table.

"Not really, I'm here to talk about Ethan... you and Ethan."

I paused, staring wide eyed at her. "Me and... Ethan. I don't understand..." I trailed off, my composure completely shifting.

"The superiors aren't exactly blind. As you and your crew now know; we have pretty much distinct powers from everyone in this whole dimension, we hear things and see things an ordinary insider can't see, or hear." She said, a small smile on her lips. "We know about Ethan's past relationship with the Rebel-lions, we also know what Glory did."

My heart pounded. "What?"

She nodded. "We're aware. Very aware of ourselves... but she kinda thinks we're all brainwashed. And we've all agreed to keep it that way."

"Does—does Ethan know?"

She shook her head. "No, he doesn't. Glory worked on him the most."

"Oh." I blinked, confusion settling within me. "Why—why are you even telling me this?"

"Listen, I'm not supposed to be here. I'm not supposed to be telling you all this thing but—I have my own personal agenda with all of this... Ethan. I care about him, a lot. He's an amazing guy, and doesn't deserve everything that happened to him. I know about the relationship you shared with him; we all do."

I gulped down, gripping the chair beside me. "You care about him... what—what does that mean?"

"It means that I like him, more than I'm supposed to."

"Does he—does he feel the same, are you here to tell me to back off, because I won't."

She smiled. "I didn't expect you to, I don't even want you to." She too sat on the table, watching me. "I've been separated from someone I love before." She said as her eyes left mine. "My sister, Rani. She was my only family. She had cancer and—we didn't have enough money to treat her. I worked my ass off, trying to make sure she beat it but—she didn't. she was a fighter, a hard-core fighter, and I admired her so damn much." She smiled. "When she died, I lost myself. I wasn't ready to lose her, then again, when is anyone ever ready to lose someone, they love?" she looked over at me. "I'm not going to pretend like I have any idea on what you're going through. Losing someone you love and then them coming back with no memory of you—it's got to hurt like a bitch, and I'm not about to add to that."

I let out a breath.

"There's a party tonight at Ethan and Silas's new place." She said, getting off from the table. "You should come. Tell him. I don't think whatever was done to him, can't be erased."

"Why should I trust you?"

"You and I, Ivy... we've lost a lot. Our lives, our loves, our families. You shouldn't trust me; in fact, you shouldn't trust anyone. You should trust your heart." She smiled. "See you at the party... invite your friends, if you like." She said, before gingerly making her way out of the broadcast room.

I sank into my chair as my mind whirled with thoughts.

She wants me to tell him... but it's not really about telling him, is it? It's about him remembering. Telling him doesn't help, it doesn't help bring back his memories. It doesn't help him remember.

I rubbed my eyes as I tried to swallow back tears.

The superiors have got to have a plan, right? They must be holding the truth from him for a good reason, right?

I sat up. I do have to go to that party.

I have to speak to Silas. He's closer to Ethan. He was at the old Dimension according to Roman. He should know more than he is letting on.

I fished for my phone, creating a group chat between me, Roman, Fiona and Caramel.

Me:

Who's up for a party tonight?
