"Coffee?" Trevor asked me as he grabbed two mugs.
I looked up from my phone, I didn't have enough time to text Roman last night, it was about my most recent discovery. My boyfriend was human after all. It only confirmed my doubts about his inc.
"Yeah." I answered, feeling the weight of my bag on my left shoulder, I looked down at my phone again, sending a quick message to Roman.
Me:
Hey!
Just now.
I looked up at Trevor as he worked his magic with the coffee. After last night, I felt a strange connection to him, almost as if I knew more than he was letting on. There was still more to him, more mysteries to be discovered.
He was human after all, he should have a background, one that he doesn't remember. He should have a mom, a Dad, even siblings who thought he went missing. If his Inc was abducting people, they were doing the wrong thing, and if it was up to me and Roman to unveil whatever mystery is behind this secret organization? Then so be it.
Ping! Went my phone, indicating that I just got a message. I hurriedly turned off the sound and put it on vibration, then checked, knowing it was Roman.
Roman:
Hey? Any news?
2 min.
There was news, alright.
Me:
He's human, which means he has a past, we need to find out about his background, his real name or wherever his family lives.
1 min.
Looking up, I found Trevor, turning to me with two mugs of coffee in his grip, he dropped one in front of me, with a smile plastered to his face... A forced smile. Almost as if he didn't want to be here, but he had to.
I scoffed mentally, he always threw on that smile, I just never noticed it.
My phone vibrated, drawing my attention back to my phone.
Roman:
I'll do something about it, I'll need some information about him to dig into his background. Do you remember anything? Maybe a name or, anything?
3 min.
"Do they do this a lot?"
I jumped a little, after hearing Trevor's voice. I cleared my throat awkwardly, picking up the coffee mug.
"Who's they?" I asked.
He dropped his half finished coffee, staring at me.
When did he drink it to half? Had he been watching me?
"Your parents. Do they just up and leave like that?"
I nodded. "Yeah, most times on business together, sometimes on vacation. They uh... They do it a lot... Tons of lots." I said.
"Why don't they take you with them?" He asked.
I shrugged. "They don't want me moving around, I guess... And school too, kids gotta learn. And honestly, I'm glad they don't take me along with them. I'd be so bored." I said, truthfully.
He smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "At least you've got parents, you should be glad. Some of us don't have that kind of opportunity." He said, sounding far off.
Now's my chance.
"Do you have any idea on who they are? Your real parents, I mean." I asked, carefully.
His eyes met mine in a second before he replied. "No, I don't."
"You can't remember anything? From your past?"
He shook his head. "No, none of us do." He said.
I inhaled. "That's sad. Why would they do that to people?"
He shrugged. "Who knows? Some people don't have a particular reason why they do things, they just do things." He said.
Exhaling, I spoke. "I'm sorry, no one deserves what you're going through." I said, feeling sad for him, and even more determined to find his family.
"Thanks, Ivy." He said, smiling. "I'll go grab my keys so we can head out."
"Sure." I said, watching him leave. When he was out of sight, I picked up my phone.
Me:
Look up on anyone missing, with the name ETHAN, we'll meet in school to discuss somethings.
Just now.
It was just a dream, I know. But there was something different about that dream, and I knew there was a reason why that name couldn't leave my head since that dream. He had called himself Ethan, and it had sounded right, like it was indeed his name. It was just a dream, but at the same time, it could be a lead.

"You still haven't broken up with him?" Was Janie's good morning to me. I could swear I saw her eyes twitch. Why was this such a big deal to her, why was she hell bent on making me end things with Trevor? What was her deal? If anything, she should be happy, for me. I was happy for her when she started dating Kyle. Why can't she do the same for me?
I finished fastening my shoe lace, I stood up right, looking all small in my volleyball uniform. "Good morning to you too, Janie. My night was awesome, and I'm glad yours was too, my parents aren't back yet, and yes, I had coffee this morning, thanks for asking." I said with a frown.
She only rolled her eyes, looking so much like the girl she promised she'll never be, the mean girl of ICHS! She was becoming one of them, and I noticed this, she was now on make up, every damn time, her hair was always shiny and styled differently, and she engaged herself in conversations about who wore what and who said what?
"I'm only looking out for you, you know that." She said.
"I know, but why does it matter to you so much? Why are you making it your mission to make sure Trevor and I split up?"
"He's bad for you." She simply said.
I crossed my arm over my chest. "And you know that, how?"
"Well, because... Look what he did to Kyle for example, he just has this bad vibe, you know..."
"That's what you think." I muttered.
"It's what I know, Ivy. He just wants to get in your pants, just like every guy out there, can't you see it?" She urged.
I gritted my teeth. "If only you knew the half of it." I murmured under my breath. "Trevor isn't like that."
"How would you know, you've never been in a relationship." She said, almost too loud, making other girls look over at our direction.
"You should take a microphone and stand in front of the whole school, you can announce it, I'm sure everyone would love to know that I've never been in a relationship." I said, getting pissed and irritated.
"I didn't mean to be that loud. Listen, I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, I'm seeing my best friend go down the wrong path, I'm only trying to put you back on track."
"The best friend I once knew, would give Trevor the benefit of the doubt, not try to manipulate her best friend into breaking up with him." I fired back.
She clenched her jaw. "Fine, don't listen to me, just know that when he breaks your heart, my shoulders won't be available for you to cry on."
I scoffed. "Your shoulders stopped being available the moment you became one of the bitches. No hard feelings here, just stating facts." With that, I left her, walking out of the locker room to the volleyball court, which was pretty close to the basketball court, I could see Trevor, talking to the coach.
You know that feeling you get when you feel like someone's watching you? It felt like someone was poking two holes at the side of my face. I shifted my attention to my side, finding the girl from yesterday, Caramel... Staring at me like I was the only one in the field.
I waved and smiled, but she kept on staring, so I dropped my hands feeling embarrassed. Guess we aren't in the waving terms.
She still looked weird, dark and mysterious, her eyes screamed danger and her look became hard. Almost like I was a target ready to be eliminated.
It was beginning to get uncomfortable.
"Did you steal her cat?"
My head turned to the direction of the voice. I raised my brow, studying her face, she wasn't in my class, and even if she was, then she'd be new, cause this was the first time I'd see her around.
She was wearing thick rimmed glasses and her dirty blonde hair was parked on a loose ponytail, her bangs were almost reaching her glasses. she had no make up on, so I could see the freckles on her cheeks, her eyes were dark brown, they looked dull and unnatural. She had pale skin, so pale it made her look like a vampire. But it suited her.
I blinked. "Uh... No... I hate cats." I blurted out. "Sorry, are you new?"
She nodded, smiling shyly. "Transferred today."
Oh great, a new girl.
"Nice, do you know her?" I asked, motioning to Caramel.
The girl looked up, her eyes finding Caramel's, they lingered for a bit. "No, I don't." She said, looking back at me.
"She's new too. Transferred yesterday." I said.
"Cool. Everyone here looks different." The girl said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
She only smiled, not saying anything after that.
I ignored it. "I'm Ivy Fisher." I introduced myself.
"Nice name. I'm Fiona Smith."
I smiled. "Thanks, Fiona, you've got a nice name too. If you had red hair it would have been perfect."
Something flashed through her eyes but it was gone before I could place a name to it. She smiled. "You'd be surprised." She muttered, her voice going a bit deep, and somewhat badass.
When the coach blew the whistle, everyone began to come closer.
Time to play volleyball.
