Ethan

"What did you just call me?" I asked Ivy, whose eyes were busy scanning my every movements, her arms which were once crossed against chest, fell to her sides as she made her way into the kitchen, eyes never leaving mine.

Why the hell did she call me Ethan? Does she know?

"You see, I've figured you out." She stated, coming to stand right Infront of me. With her eyes still on mine, she grabbed the drink from my hands and dropped it on the table. Her eyes were still on mine.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked her, beginning to get worried that she might actually know the Inc's secrets, which could lead to her life being in danger.

My God... How the hell did she find out.

"You're a Robot." She said. "Which only makes your ability to eat, sleep, drink and do other things humans do; abnormal." She smiled. "Even your looks, your body, voice, everything! It's all not robot like!"

"And?" I prompted her to continue.

"So, what if you aren't really a Robot? But you think you are? Or at least your evil Inc made you think so, by implanting iron all over your system. Trevor, You're not a Robot... You're a Cyborg." She said with a grin on her face.

"Excuse me?"

"Yes! It makes sense! You can't remember your human abilities and your other life because that non governmental illegal Inc made you! I researched Trevor..."

"You researched?" I asked.

"Yeah... You remember that lady from earlier today? The one who called you Ethan?"

"Yeah? The crazy lady?"

She came closer, placing both of her hands below my ears in order to hold my face. "No! She's not crazy Trevor, she's your mother, you don't just remember."

My eyes widened. "Why- Why would you think that?"

"I went to see her. She explained everything. There was a fire-"

"Ivy stop." I said, pulling her hands from my face. "You- you don't know what you're saying."

Her whole face showcased what I knew so well as pity.

"Yes, I do. Your real name's Ethan Murray."

"You don't know that. Look Ivy, I'm done trying to explain to you that I'm not human, neither am I a- a- Cyborg-"

"You're only saying this because you don't remember anything. Your Inc is evil... All I need you to do is tell me where it is, we'll report them to the authorities-"

"Ivy-"

"You're not gonna stop me Trevor. Listen, I'm only trying to help you, and every other person in that Inc. What they're doing is illegal."

I breathe out.

Ivy was way smarter than I thought. How the hell am I supposed to take her mind off this theory.

"Your mother's name is Tiffany Murray. She survived the fire at your house eight years ago, unfortunately your dad and twin brother couldn't make it out on time... I guess that was exactly when the Inc took you. They probably made you forget about your past." Ivy said.

In those few seconds, I relived that awful moment.

-

Looking up at my burning house, tears streamed down my face as fire fighters tried to clear off the fire... I was confused. When I saw the fire from my neighbor's window, I rushed out, knowing Nathan and my parents were still inside.

I knew I would never see them again, and that was exactly why the tears stopped pouring... I knew there was no point in crying.

Just when I was about to go into shock, I felt a cold soft hand on my shoulder.

I looked up at the woman, she had blonde hair and a beautiful reassuring smile, although I could see the pity in her eyes, it was all I could see on everyone's face.

"Hi there." She whispered softly.

I couldn't reply to her, there was something odd and different about the woman, something compelling.

"I'm Glory Curt. What's your name?" She asked.

"Ethan- Ethan Murray." My cracked voice barely rose beyond a whisper.

"Ethan, how old are you?"

"Ten." I answered, almost like I was in a trance.

"I know how sad you must be... I'm really sorry for everything you're going through, Ethan..."

"Am I supposed to say thank you?" I asked, breaking myself out of the trance. "I don't need anyone's pity... I'm a big boy... I can handle everything."

"Sharp. I like that... Are you sure you're ten?"

I nodded. "Please can you leave me alone? I want to be alone."

"I know Ethan... But being alone will make you more sad. Listen, you're a brave boy, I can tell."

"So?"

"I know a place where you'd feel okay again... A place where you'd see people like your family. I can take you there, if you want." She said.

My brows came together. "They're all gone... They all left me. I know what happens to people when they die, they never come back... I'm ten, not stupid."

She smiled. "I went through something similar, Ethan... I lost my parents in a car accident... The car exploded, I went into shock- but someone took me to this place- and it helped me... I was never sad again." She pressed on.

"I'm not interested."

"I know. But I assure you, when you get there- you will be...."

She snapped her fingers in front of my eyes, and after that, everything went black....

I blinked, coming back to reality. "I don't have a past, Ivy. I'm a Robot."

"That's what they want you to think... You have to believe me Trevor... Your Inc has something they're hiding- it might be a danger to us humans." Ivy said.

I took a step back from her. "Why are you even thinking this?"

"I told you I was going to meet Kyle. But it wasn't Kyle I went to see... It was his twin brother, he's an expert on anything called machine! I told him about you."

I paused.

"You what?!" I yelled now.

"It was the only way to help you, Trevor!"

I gripped my hair with both hands, trying to contain the sudden wave of anger. "How could you?! It was meant to be kept secret... No one can know about this!"

"Roman can be trusted." Ivy stated. "A robot isn't supposed to have feelings Trevor... You're angry! That's a feeling! You couldn't let Kyle just walk away after hitting you, so you retaliated, that's also a feeling! You cared about how my friends treated me... That's a feeling Trevor... I had to pick up these pieces and put them together... I remember the first day you arrived, I made up a story about a fire destroying everything you had; you reacted to that, it only means your memories can be restored. When you saw Tiffany today, you called her mom because your instincts thought it was right." Ivy said, coming closer to me.

"Trevor," she called. "I only want to help... You're coming with me to see Roman... Whether you like it, or not."
