Ivy

My heart hammered against my ribcage as hope swiveled through me. If there was even a possibility that Trevor might be lying to me about being a robot, then, I'd be glad. But it still didn't explain anything- I asked him once, and he showed me.

He sliced his own wrist and all I saw was iron so, why the hell is there a cut on his knuckles. It doesn't explain anything.

Immediately, Trevor shielded his knuckles from my view. "It's not my blood." He said.

"What? That wasn't just blood Trev. That was a cut, and you were bleeding."

"Don't be ridiculous Ivy, it was just blood, I don't bleed remember? I'm a Robot, robots don't bleed. And besides, haven't I proven myself to you?" He asked, still pulling his knuckles from my view.

"I know what I saw. Show it to me."

"Why are you making a fuss about this Ivy?"

"Show it to me. Now." I said, almost shouting.

He sighed, pulling out his knuckles. "See?" He said, rubbing off the blood on his knuckles. And so help me God, there was no cut, just dried blood. "Told you it wasn't my blood. Did you even see Kyle's face?"

I was too stunned to answer. "But- there were several cuts on your knuckles, I saw them Trevor... I saw them just now."

"Well where are they? Show them to me." He said, extending his knuckles again.

"But-"

"You still don't trust me." He stated. "Why would you even think for a second that I would bleed? I proved it to you, didn't I?"

"I- I thought I saw-"

"I'm not human Ivy, I might look like one but- I'm not."

I sighed. "I'm sorry, I just thought- I- you know what? Never mind." I raked my hands through my hair, remembering I was about to pull it back up in a ponytail before I heard about the fight. "You shouldn't have done that to Kyle. You almost killed him." I pointed out.

"You wanna cut class?" Trevor asked out of nowhere, ignoring my statement.

"No? Why would I do that? I've never done that before and I don't want to ever do that, cause it's wrong."

"Seriously? Nothing is wrong about it.”

"Says a robot who has never beared the consequences of being caught while leaving school during school hours.”

"Oh, you have no idea." He muttered.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

He smirked. "I'll tell you, only if you agree to skip the rest of the school day."

I grinned.

"What?" He asked.

"It's nothing. just that I feel like I'm in one of those cheesy novels or movies where the bad boy convinces the nerdy girl to skip class and all that crap." I said.

"Well, are you ready to try that?"

"I'm not sure but- it's good to be bad at times right? Too much good makes ones life boring."

"That's what she said." Trevor gave a one sided smile.

"You know, it's times like this that I doubt you're fully made up of machines and wires."

He chuckled. "Never doubt that, cause I am indeed made of machines and wires."

Is he though?

"Why did you get violent?" I asked, dropping my half finished smoothie on the table as I stared at him, waiting for his response.

We were at a fancy smoothie and burger store not so far from ICHS.

"He started it, I didn't do anything to him." He simply shrugged, dropping his phone on the table.

"He was probably jealous of you... Seriously, couldn't you have given him some points, you shouldn't be showcasing your robotic strength all around, people might get suspicious, we wouldn't want anyone to know my big secret."

"Says the girl who told everyone that her boyfriend was a Robot at a truth or dare game."

"I was drunk and sad, what did you expect?" I asked, relaxing back on my chair. "And again, you left me." I shrugged, stealing a glance at his direction.

"I never got to ask," I sat up. "...where did you go after you left the party?" I asked. "And please, don't tell me you were just hanging around cause Kyle and I searched everywhere for you. Including the rooms."

Trevor chuckled. "Why would I be in one of his rooms?"

"Well- I don't know, we just thought that- you know, someone might have-" oh God. "Just answer the question."

He eyed me first before speaking. "I went back to my Inc."

I paused, furrowing my brows in question. "Your Inc? As in the human Robotic Inc?"

"No, the Alien robotic Inc." He said, looking all serious.

"Really? Is there something like that?" I asked.

"Of course not Ivy." He said, looking so concerned about me. "Why are you so- stupid?"

"Cause I'm not a robot, duh." I said, picking up my smoothie and drinking from the straw Popping out, then dropped it down again, his eyes followed the movement. "What did you go there for?"

He hesitated, almost like he was pondering whether or not to tell me.

"A friend needed my help." He said.

"There are more of you?"

"Of course, did you think I was the only Robot?" He asked.

"Kinda, you didn't exactly tell me that you had friends and all that- to be sincere, you didn't tell me anything."

"Our Inc is high profile, Ivy. Top secret. No one can know."

"So you're telling me the government has no idea that some set of guys are busy making robots in somebody's basement?"

"Basement?" Trevor scoffed. "You have no idea what you're talking about. You should have read the terms and conditions."

"Sorry, I'm not going to be part of the twenty people who reads that shit." I said. "Tell me more about this friend of yours."

"No."

"Come on, your friend is top secret too?"

"Yup."

"Okay then, was her issue something serious?"

"Yes and no."

I frowned. "That doesn't exactly answer my questions Trevor."

"Sorry, I can't give out more than that."

"Oh come on."

"Curiosity kills the cat." Trevor said.

"Then let the cat out of the bag so curiosity wouldn't kill it." I replied.

"We should as well let the sleeping cat lie." He countered back.

I groaned. "Okay then, tell me about your Inc, how many are you guys? Fifty? Sixty, a hundred?"

Trevor tilted his head to an angle. "How many are you guys in the world?" He asked.

"How the hell am I supposed to know that?" I asked.

"See? I'm in the same position."

My eyes widened. "Wait- you guys are like thousands?"

"Guess again." He said.

"O.M.G. So, your Inc must be really large, where is it?"

"Can't tell you."

"Oh come on Trev." I whined.

"Sorry, it's the rules."

"Okay fine... Can you sneak me in then?" I asked hopefully.

"Hell no." He chuckled. "Why would you think I'll ever do that?"

"Cause you're a nice person?" I said, more like asked.

"Right, I wasn't programmed to be nice, remember... You wanted; rude, sarcastic, bad boy?"

"Damn, can I reset factory settings?"

"Don't think so."

"Okay then... Why don't you tell me the name of your friend?"

"Why don't you stop asking questions that I won't be able to give answers to?" He asked.

"You're no fun."

"I am, you're only just getting what you ordered." He shrugged.

"You sure I can't reset your factory settings?"

"Not a chance." He grinned.

I was about to say something else when a woman rushed over to our table with wide eyes.

"Ethan?!” The woman cried out. "It's you! It's really you!” tears streamed down her eyes as she held Trevor's face in her hand.

Trevor looked confused for a moment but then I saw realization pop into his eyes and the next word that left Trevor's mouth, threw me off balance, and when I mean balance, I mean mental balance.

"Mom?"
