School addictions

Lunch, the constant war that decides which group your in. Where you sit in the beginning of the year determines which group you belong to, who you hang out with, your spot on the ever changing social ladder. High schools a never ending, ever changing game of shark an fish, one day you could be a shark, and the next your a fucking fish.
A krill, the bottom of the food chain, the smallest an most insignificant person in the school. High schools full of labels, an mine? I'm not sure which one is mine, an yet, I could care less. It doesn't matter my social spot, never has and it never will.
" Hey, Hazel!", a voice calls out form behind me, jerking me out of my thoughts.
Glancing around I realize I was so caught up in thinking, I didn't realize I was headed to lunch. My eyes land on the tall figure headed my way, the hood in their black jacket flicked up hiding a portion of their face from view.
" Hey KoKo, what's up?", I asked, smiling slightly. KoKo Maxwell, one of my newest yet most trusted friends, has been a big help in my life. He was one of the few who new that something was going on in my home life, just not exactly what it was.
Smiling, he came over and wrapped me in a huge bear hug,  rubbing my head and fucking up hair. Glaring at him, I attempted to fix it, sticking my tongue out at him. Rolling my eyes, I hiked my bag up father onto my shoulders, wincing slightly as it hits a bruise on my ribs.
Out fo the corner of my eyes, I see KoKo watching me, see the worry in his brown eyes as he glances at my sides. The realization dawns and comprehension blooms into his eyes.
"Hazel", he says, reaching for my arm an stopping me, his voice dead serious," What was that?".
Shaking slightly, I refuse to meet his eyes an ask,"What was what?", the slight trembling in my voice gives away the salty tears threatening to fall.
" Hazel.... what happened to your side?", he asks. The seriousness in his voices causes a few stray tears to fall, the soft plop as they fall from my chin to my jacket, the only proof he needs. Scooping me up in his arms an a hug, careful of my ribs, he drags me over behind the large tree where our lunch group hung out.
" Show me", he says, crossing his arms, blocking me from the view of the nosy student body. My hands shake slightly an I gently place my bag down by his feet, an slip my jacket off.
" KoKo, don't get mad please...?", I manage to choke out as I feel my throat closing. I shut my eyes an turn, lifting up the hem of my shirt to expose the dark purple-blue marks that deformed my ribs an back. Shaking, I dropped my shirt back down an fell to the ground sobbing.
Feeling a pair of arms around me, I clutched at KoKo, an sobbed into his shoulder, repeating," I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.", my throat closing an tears falling. The salty trails fell, staining his jacket, as I slowly and surely gave up, crying and apologizing.
I guess I became a krill then, the lowest of the low, even to the people who were supposed to love me. I've failed them, an failed everyone.
Jerking up I slammed my eyes open, gasping for a breath as I clawed at my throat, glancing at the clock next to me, it was a dream. All a dream, a memory really, of the days before I was taken out of school.
Shaking my head, I ran a sweat slicked hand through my tangled hair, grabbing my phone I put in the passcode checking my notifications. 27 from Snapchat, 6 from Instagram, 8 from twitter, an others from the various apps I barley used.
Sighing, I did my streaks, the customary little S on a blank picture and sent. Flipping through stories, I stopped. It was a shout-out, nothing new. But that's not what caught my eye. It was a dude, with shaggy black hair, and his teeth, like little pointy canines, pointing out with his little side sneer.
Interested, I swiped up and added him, curious. Shark? What kind of name is shark? I thought, before moving on. Those blue-green, grayish eyes and pointed canines stayed in my mind, as if imprinted, and refused to leave my mind. Curious, an curiouser.

Ayyyy look at that, a long chapter :) I decided i wanted to speed it up some, and introduce some more characters, an not drag it out as long. But what did y'all think? Comment your thoughts :) lots of love :)
