Chapter Ten.
Lena decided when while soccer practice that if she wants revenge on Darien for rejecting her in front of her schoolmates, she'll just embarrass him back. When she got home, she looked in her snack closet where lots of snack that don't get eat much were and looked for the stalest food.
Of the fourth shelf she saw a box of chocolate donuts and she grabbed them, looking at the date. They were a month and half old. The box wasn't opened and Lena decided they were a good choice. She grinned, "Oh Darien, you're making this so much fun."
The next day she came to school, she was happy to see Darien made here on time today while everyone was in the hallway. She took the box of donuts out and walked over to him.
He felt her presence and turned his head. He looked turned from tiredness to annoyance, "Oh great, what do you want to today, Sunshine?”
"Sorry."
He looked down at her confused and as if she was crazy, "Excuse me, Sunshine?'.
"I said I was sorry for being 'annoying' and I bought you these, showing you how sorry I am. I'm not much of a good baker, but I thought these would please you.” she said, holding the box up to him.
He raised an eyebrow, "Donuts?” he asked.
"If that's what they look like, yes.” she said. "I promise I'll leave you alone, Wolverine. Even, you look hungry. What's the harm?”
He hesitated, but reached out and took them. He looked at the closed box and grinned, "Sure, I'll take your little gift. But I'm not bring anything for you tomorrow.”
She smiled and held her hands up, "I'm not asking. See you, Wolverine.” she said, walking around him, swayed her hips side to side a little more she usually does and she felt his eyes on her lower back at her butt.
When she got to her locker a few moments later and put her code in, she was happy her good hearing focused on Darien and she heard the tap being cut apart and the box opened. Lena turned her head and watched Darien take open and take a bite. He chewed a few times before slowing down before he stopped and his face turned into disgust. He reached into his mouth and took out some greenish looking stuff.
Lena didn't realized they had mold on them and that just made it better! Darien dropped the box and spit in the near trash can. The people around him looked at him as he was crazy and Lena chuckled.
When Darien stopped throwing up and he turned his head to glare at Lena, she felt like she was in for it now from the evil look he gave her. But showing he wasn't scaring her since he wasn't, she smirked, grabbed her books, binder, and closed her locker before going to class before waving by to him.
She knew she was finished now; she would have to think of more things to embarrass him because knowing Darien to know he isn't the type to just let that slid. And from what happened on Friday, she knew it was going to be far worse than that little stunt.

Once Darien heard about a guy who could easily break into lockers, he found a junior name Kevin and he grabbed him by his polo collar at lunch time. No was one was in his junior hall and Darien slammed him against the walls since lockers would make too much sounds.
Fear washed in Kevin eyes as Darien leaned his arm against the five foot seven inch 10th grader, "I didn't take anything from your locker!” he said quickly.
Darien smiled and chuckled, "I know, not what I'm here for you. You would have been in the hospital if you ever thought about taking something from mine. But while I'm here, I hear you’re really good at opening other people locker.”
"Y-yeah, I am.", he stuttered. "W-what's it to ya?", he asked, trying to sound all big and everything as he stood up straight, but Darien still saw fear in his eyes, "Sophomore?'.
Darien raised his eyebrow, "Let's not start with the grade shit. I need you to open a locker and you'll do if for free.”
"Well I usually like cash--okay, okay!” he said quickly when Darien jerked at him and raised his fist as if he was about to punch him. "Who's and where? I'll get whatever you want.”
"Oh, it's not what I want, it's what I want to put in there.” he said and Kevin looked at him confused.
"What do you mean?” he asked.
"No questions, let’s just go.” he said, grabbing Kevin collars and dragged him to Lena's locker with a grin on his face. A little flirting with Lena good friend Becca helped him learn Lena worse fears.

As Lena walked passed Darien locker after lunch, they looked at each other and she grinned as him as she walked passed. She still felt happy about earlier today and planned her next attacked. She was actually going too called up Shay who was a mast at pranks after school and get some ideas.
When she got to her locker, she put her code in to collect her books she needed for her last classes. When she opened her locker, she saw something hang right in front of her. A snake!
She shrieked loudly and took a step back. When it didn't attack her, she eyed it and realized it was a rubber snake!! Her neck and cheeks flushed up when she looked around and noticed people looking at her. She turned to look at Darien was leaning against his locker grinning at her.
She glared at him evilly and took the step back to her locker, ripping the rubber snake off her locker shelf. She grabbed her book and when she moved it, something moved from behind and she dropped her Bio book, screaming loudly this time when she saw a giant spider the size of fist move!
She stumbled backwards screaming until she hit the locker across from hers, screaming her head off. It would have jumped on her and killed her! She kept pressing her back against the locker, scared to death as if was going to jump on.
When she felt a pair of hands touch her shoulder, she flipped, "No!”
"Lena, it's me!” she heard Joey's voice and stopped, looking up at him as she shook. Her body still in fear, she pressed herself against his chest and was happy he was way taller than her. She realized the spider in her locker was the tarantula from Mr. Craig Bio room.
His arms moved around her waist when she heard teachers rushing out and asking what's wrong. Lena was too shaken up to answer any of them and moved from Joey scared it would still jump on her. She turned her head to Darien way and saw trying so hard not to burst out in laughter.
She wanted to cry right now for him being so evil! Why would he do that to her? And how'd he get in her locker in the first place? She was deathly scared of snakes and spider. Snakes run in the woods, but their harmless little gardening snakes and she never notices a spider while she's running. But seeing a spider in her human form, she'll freak out, begging someone to kill it.
The teacher told the student to class and one of them told Lena to go to the nurse to go lay down for a bit. She has never felt so embarrassed and little before in her life and she knows how to feel little after growing up with six feet tall brothers while she was only five inches tall.

Lena was waiting outside of Darien apartment building, arms crossed over her chest, and leaning against the door, glaring at the floor. She was pissed at him and she wasn't going to let that slid! Oh no! She even saved his ass when the principle asked her if she knew who could have taken the spider and put it in her locker. She lied and told him no.
But she wanted him at school to get back at him!
She was tapping her foot against the floor when she caught a whiff of forest pine needle and mint smell. She looked up and saw Darien walked towards the building. She watched him walk with swagger and she hated at how calm he looked!
He grinned as he walked up the steps and turned to her, "What may I do for you, Sunshine?”
She got up from the wall and walked over to him, "You thought that was funny?”
He licked his lips and nodded, "You mean with the spider and rubber snake? Yes, I do.”
She poked hard at his chest, "Well, it wasn't! Do you know how scared and humiliated I was!?”
"Well I did say I would get you back.” he said as he opened the door and went in.
Lena walked in behind him, "It wasn't funny, Darien!” she yell at him. "I'm scared to death of those both and you do that? How did you even know about that and my locker code?’
"I am no snitch.” he said, waiting for the elevator.
Lena breathed out her nose heavily, her eyes turning from golden brown to dark brown, but she was happy Darien wasn't paying attention to her. Only a few people knew her fear and Darien isn't the one to chat with people. The only person she could think of to tell him was Becca and she wouldn't tell him, right? Why would she? And her locker? Becca doesn't know it. But she does remember hearing about some boy a grader older than her that could sneak into people lockers.
The elevator doors opened and Darien walked in. "I'm not finish with you!” she said, walking in.
"Well I am.", he said. "Now I got studying to do.”
She psshed as the doors closed, "Yeah right, you studying?” she asked, not really expecting an answer. She didn't want to stop yelling at him and that was the only place where he couldn't get away. She turned to the button and looked for the stop button, pressing hard on it. She turned back to him and put her hands on his chest, pushing him against the wall, "Look here Darien, you don't know who I am. I may come off sweet, but I am also a Russo. My brothers went to that school and I'll live by that last name to be respected. I don't care if I sound narcissistic.”
She was angry, she never felt that angry before. But she knew she wasn't angry just for the spider and rubber snake. She was still pissed about getting reject by this asshole and it was time to bite his ear off.
"Oh, and you think food poisoning funny?” he asked, his eyes darkening with angry. "I'll admit, I didn't see that coming, Sunshine. I'll give you points for it, but I had to get back. Now can we get out of here?” he yelled and Lena noticed his forehead looked a little damped and nervousness appeared in his eyes.
She looked at him confused for a few moments before she realized he must have hated small type spaces.
Lena taken too much time realizing cause he slipped passed her and pressed the button to start the elevator hard, "Come on!”
"Darien, calm down, it'll open if you stop.” she said, grabbing his arm and he pulled her back.
He started freaking out and backed away from her, breathing hard. He looked scared--no, terrified. She knew people who didn't like type spaces either, but she never seen them so...well, like Darien. He looked like he was about to get murder.
She stepped towards him "Darien?'.
The doors opened and he ran out of the elevator, leaning against a window celling, breathing hard. She went to touch him, but he jerked his arm away, "Don't touch me.", he said. "Just go.”
"But-"
"Leave!” he said, getting up and walking towards his apartment room.
Lena stood there for a few moment, confused. What just happened? She came here to yell at him for what he did and she ended up with him to get out after he just freaked out like a crazed person. After a few moment, she turned and left.
*
Darien leaned against the shower wall as the cold water ran down him, cooling him off. He didn't mean to freak out like he did, but being in small places he hated--no feared. He could deal going up the elevator, but not for too long. And since the lights in there weren't that great, it didn't help either. He usually takes the stares, but he didn't expect for Lena to follow him in the building.
He couldn't stop thinking about his father though. After he would punish Darien, he would stick him in a small dark closet for hours until he finally let him out ever since he was three. Inside Darien would feel alone, cold, scared, and worthless. He would cry from the beating of his father and the other things he would do to Darien.
He forced himself to hold back the tears and the only made him angry. He wasn't the one to cry and he would usually throw and break things. One thing he learned from his father, crying for babies and women.
But that made him fear he was going to become just like his father one day.
