Chapter Seven
Lena was confused when she looked around the lunch room and didn't see Darien anywhere. Her eyebrows were together and she had a small pout on her face. Today in class when she got there, of course he came in late, but he decided to sit closer to the front and Lena didn't have time to change seat cause that's when Mr. Beckett started class.
She couldn't find his scent since there was hundreds of students in one lunch room and she wanted to be with him. She had this lonely feeling and she knows he's the one that can make her feel happy. Her brothers were always smiling when their girls were around.
She got up from her lunch table, sneaking away from Becca ranting about her parents’ choice of vacation this summer. She didn't even noticed Lena sneaked away over to the pair of door to leave the caf. She opened one of the doors and walked out and the hallway was had students that sometimes hangout out here, but there usually couples or groups.
She looked to her right and didn't see him. She turned her attention to her left and had to double take when she saw Darien at the end of the hall—with Julia. They were all the way down at the end of the hall and she was leaning back on the wall and Darien arm was leaning next to her head and they were really close—to close.
She saw a grin on both their faces and Darien must have said something funny or flirted because she giggled and placed her hand on his chest.
Lena was confused—she thought he couldn't stand Julia. And she was pissed! Was her mate flirting with some shank!? She pressed her lips angrily together and walked towards them. She grabbed Darien jacket and pulled him away from the hold of Julia.
“He—what the hell?” Darien questioned when he turned around and stopped her.
She glared up at him, “What are you doing?”
He raised an eyebrow, “What are you talking about? I was talking to Julie.”
“Julia.”, Lena hissed. “And why?”
“What does it matter to you?” he asked, his voice cold and she looked up at him shock now. It hurt her a little. “You aren't my girlfriend, so stop acting as if you are!” he said and that killed her.
“But Darien—“,
“No! Stop acting so clingy also, you've known me for three days! Actually, just leave me all alone all together.” he said, turning around to a tear eye Lena and went back over to Julia who he left with.
Lena was trying to control sob that wanted to escape her mouth since he mate not only embarrassed her in front of a tone of people, but regretted her.
She has never felt so broken hearten before and she cried when her brothers moved out to start their own lives.
She knew she couldn't be here anyone after Darien just did that because she could never survive another four being around him. She turned around and quickly walked towards her locker. When she got her phone, her hands were shaky and she was trying hard for her voice not break as she called Jamie to come pick her up.
It ranged a few times before a chuckling Jamie picked up, “Soph, stop—hello? Lena, you’re not supposed to be calling during school, you know? But hey, you are a Russo, I would expect it.”
“Jam-Jamie, can you come pick me up?” she asked as she sniffed and ran her hand under her right eye as a tear came out.
“Are you alright?” he asked, his protective brother voice chiming in.
Lena closed her eyes as she broke and she took a moment to reply, “Please just come pick me up, I had a hard day.”
“Yeah, sure, I'll be there in five minutes.” he said.
She didn't say bye as she hung up and back her bag. She pulled her jacket on and went to the office to go wait for her brother. They lady at the counter ask her what's wrong, but Lena was trying hard not to break down crying in front of her and said she didn't feel well and wanted to go home. Lena could tell the lady felt awkward and just excused her for the rest of the day.
She waited for Jamie outside the school building and she hid her face behind her hair as he rolled up. She got up from the bench and ran towards Jamie car, quickly getting in and prayed he didn't ask anything.
“Lena, what's wrong?” he asked.
“I just want to go home, Jamie.” she said. “Really bad cramps.”
“That's a damn lie.” he said. “Come on, Lena, you can tell me.”
“I don't want to talk about it.”, she told him. “I just want to go home and never come back here again.”
“Why?”
“Cause!”
“Cause why?”
“Cause I said so!”
“Why?”
“Stop it!”
“Why?”
Lena groaned at her brother, “Fine! You want to know so badly. My mate just rejected me and doesn't want me or would never love me! There!”
Jamie looked at her in shock due to the fact that she just said 'mate' and never told him. Lena wanted to punch him cause he never home anymore mostly at Sophie house to ever tell him anything! And Jamie sneaky self, he probably would have caught on the first day.
He then looked pissed and turned to his door, “The bastard!” he said as he got out and Lena got out of her seat, running to Jamie to stop him at the hood of his car. His eyes were dark and angry looking.
“Jamie, no!” she said.
“Who is he Lena?” he asked. “And why would he do that?”
“I don't know!” she said. “He's a jerk—okay, a huge jerk! But Jamie, please, don't. I know it's just because you love me, but I want to go home.”
“After I have a little talk with the punk.”, he said, trying to walk around Lena, but she grabbed his arm and pulled him back—which was a little hard since Jamie was just almost as big as Shay and Tristan who were both six feet tall and had pretty big arms. Not as big as Skyler, but big.
“No! Not today at least. I just want to go home, take me now!”
“But Lena—“.
“No!” she said. “Home!”
They glared at each other and if they were in their wolves, they would be butting their heads together. After a few second, he groaned, “Fine!” he said, turning around and got back in his car.
Lena turned and walked over to her seat. She wasn't sure anymore, but she felt so numb the ride home. It's as if someone ripped a part of her out of her and she was hollow.
Oh wait.
Someone did and she didn't expect who it would be was someone so very important to her.
