Chapter Fourteen.
Lena slapped her team mate's hands as they ran into the girl's locker room; winning the game. She had a huge smile on her and couldn't stop being happy. Coach was surprised to see her come out and playing so amazing, but Jenny didn't tell him about making out with a guy in the girl locker room.
Marci wasn't a happy camper about losing, but they shook their hand and said 'next time'. Lena was pretty cocky and said 'And I'll beat your ass that time to', but who knows, after tonight, Marci might work harder.
When everyone was in the locker room, Coach walked and congratulated everyone, "We had a good game tonight, I'm proud of you girls." he said. "And Lena, whatever you did to make yourself win, keep doing it. Now, if you ladies excuse me, I'm going to go brag to me old friend, Thomas, with this pretty trophy." he said as he left the locker room, admiring the trophy and all the girls giggled.
Everyone then started talking about Charity sleep over her was having for after the game. Lena didn't really feel like doing anything the rest of the night and Charity was a little disappointed that Lena didn't want to come, but shrugged it off.
Lena grabbed her jacket and threw it on. Her parents, Skyler and Haley and the little ones, Tristan and Colleen and Micah, and Jamie and Sophie were all waiting for her in the parking lot. She let her hair out of the French braid before leaving the locker room. She smelt herself as she walked down the hall and she knew she had to get a shower because she was sweaty.
She was kind of hoping she would see Darien, but she couldn't find him since he was hiding and with all the scents in the air, she couldn't seek him out. She thought maybe he just left, wasn't expecting him to stick around after. She didn't want to be that clingy girl anymore. Just let it come with the flow because it seems to be worker.
When Lena walked out of the school building, she began walking towards the parking lot where her family was, but a voice stopped her.
"Congrats.", Darien said and she turned to see him leaning against a tree where no one could see him. Hell, she wouldn't have noticed him if he didn't say anything.
She couldn't help but smile, "You stuck around after, how strange." she said, walking over to him. "Thought you would leave after it was over."
"And not tell you how amazing you did?" he asked, taking his hands out of his pocket. "Seems like the light in you burned back up."
"Well had a little help lighting it up.", she shyly said.
He looked over Lena shoulder, "Is that your family?" he asked and Lena turned her around and looked at her family who didn't even see her and Darien.
She chuckled, "Half of them. I have two other brothers and both of them either married or have a girlfriend."
"Damn, you have a huge family." he said. "Must be nice, to have a huge close family."
"What about yours?" she asked. "Don't you have any aunts or uncles? Cousins?"
"A ton. Ash is just one of them." he said. "But...my parents were always never close with them, so I kind of like an outsider to most of them."
She frowned, "Sorry.".
He shook his head, "Doesn't matter, I don't need them." he said. He looked like he wanted to say more, but stayed quiet for a moment. "So, um, yesterday I was thinking after I got home."
"About?" she asked.
"I haven't had anyone care about me since my mom and I'll admit, it scares me a little." he said. "But Lena, I can't get you out of my head. It's like you just crawled into my head and stayed there. All I think about is you either it's you being crazy, stalking me, or being totally beautiful. And as hard as I try, I can't stop thinking of you all day."
She blushed hard, "Well that's surprising, to hear coming from you, Darien. What are you trying to say?"
He leaned up from the tree and took a step closer to her, "I'm not boyfriend material, so don't expect me to do all these mushy stuff girls likes to do with their boyfriend."
"Are you saying you want to be my boyfriend?" she grinned at him.
"Isn't that what you want?" he asked and she rolled her eyes, but chuckled. "I won't ask you this again because I'm probably making a fool of myself right now so I'll just get it all out. For one, I'm most likely Bi-Polar and yes, an asshole. I have a lot of dark secret you don't know about me and don't expect me to tell you them all. I hate romance movies, so I'll never watch one even if you beg me. I like cigarettes because they calm me down and I tend to take my anger out on people. I'm one of the most sarcastic people you'll ever meet. I'm cold hearted and tend to push people away—but you, because you're always still there! But something inside me want you around sometimes and you make me go crazier when you're around. So, Lena, do you wanna be my girlfriend."
She just wanted to cry out a 'yes' and attack him with kiss, but just to be a smart ass, she pursed her lips, "Hmm, I'll have to think about." she said and he groaned, rolling his eyes. She chuckled, "Sure, why not, Darien."
He put his hands on her waist and her arms came snaked around Darien neck as he kissed her. She couldn't help but smile big as she kissed him. She has never been so happy in her life and she knew she could get him to open up more about himself. She could help him deal with his issues and what Darien doesn't know, she hates those bad cheesy romance movies also. She grew up with five brother who loved action stuff.
She what to jump and squeal since Darien was her boyfriend now. She wasn't sure what do in a relationship, but it should just come like a friendship, right? She didn't care right now as she kissed him.
Suddenly she felt someone grabbed her jacket and pulled her back.
"Hey-", Darien started until Skyler and Tristan stood next to him, grabbed the top of his jacket.
Lena didn't need to turn her head around to see it was Jamie holding her back.
She couldn't stop smiling until her dad appeared with his arm crossed over his chest in the middle of them. She blushed and gave him an innocent smile, "Hi daddy."
He looked at her, Darien, and her again, "Lena sweet heart, who is this boy?" he asked about Darien.
"M-my boyfriend." she said sweetly and innocently the best she could to him.
"Lena, you never mentioned a boyfriend." he said, looking pretty surprise.
"Yeah," Skyler said. "You know our rules, no dating without our permission. And you didn't tell us?"
She rolled her eyes at him, "Skyler, let go of him. You to Tristan."
Darien tried to stepped away, but her brothers had a good grip on them, "Hey, hey, this jacket is one of the most expensive things I have." he said about his leather jacket.
"You think we care?" Skyler asked.
"Yeah," Tristan said, leaning his arm on Darien shoulder now. "Apparently you don't know who we are. We're Lena brothers and there's two more of us, so I'll just warn you now, watch your ass—I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."
Lena groaned, "Tristan, stop it. Don't scare him away. And his name is Darien."
"Darien?" he questioned. "I heard about you at the police station. You're the talk of the town. I hear you're pretty bad."
"Really?" Skyler said. "How'd Lena get stuck with you? She's as innocent as a doe eye dear."
Darien started to look uncomfortable and Lena groaned, "Guys, come on, be nice. Daddy, tell your sons to let go of him."
Her dad shrugged, "You know them, they never listen. They're grown men now."
Her mouth dropped, "Daddy!"
He groaned, "Fine, Sky, Tristan, let go of the poor boy."
Her head turned to the side to tell Jamie, "Now let go of me, Jamie." she growled to him and he gave her a look, but did as she said.
Her dad turned to Darien, "So, boy, what's your whole name?"
Darien swallowed hard, "Darien Aric Armando Molina Call."
Lena heart fluttered, 'His whole name sounds romantic,' she thought. But she wonders why he only told her it was Darien Aric Call.
"And where you from?"
"Boston.".
"I could have guessed." he said. "Nothing wrong with a city boy. Are you Spanish?"
Darien nodded, "Why?"
He shrugged, "Just curious, you have a pretty interesting name. But my boys could care less about your name. I mean look at them," he chuckled looking around her brother. "They look like wolves don't they."
Darien lifted his chin, "They don't scare me.", he said, but Lena could see he looked a little paler than usual.
To her surprise, her dad chuckled and put an arm around Darien shoulder, "I like you and you look brave. Good enough for my Lena."
Her brothers looked at him in shock, but Lena smiled. She's happy her dad likes him. Her brothers would deal and look past his bad boy side.
"Come on," he said. "Let's go meet the rest of the family."
"Actually, I should be getting home." he said. "My cousin Ash doesn't even know I'm gone."
"Oh really?" he asked. "You remind me of myself when I was younger. I was rebel also, so I know what it's like having to get back so I don't get in more trouble. But I would like for you to come over one of these days soon."
"Sure.", Darien said.
"And one more then." he said, moving his hand to Darien right shoulder, "Darien, Lena my little girl and if you dare hurt her, I won't hesitate to send my boys after you." he said and Lena's eyes widen.
"Daddy!" she cried out.
Her father smiled when Darien grew paler. He opened his mouth to say something, but he cried out in pain instead. Lena gasp, went to his side and place a hand on his back as he bent to touch his thigh, and she looked down to see Nikki had bitten him. She could've tell if he broke skin by smelling blood, but she didn't, so she knew there would just be a bruise.
Skyler looked like he was trying hard not to burst out laughing as he picked little Nikki up by his jacket, "You little demon. What have I said about biting people, you're not old enough."
Haley walked up to him with her hands on her hips, "How'd you get past me?" she asked and Nikki giggled.
"He was attacking Auntie Lena, I mean, mommy, did you see the way his face was on her not to long ago? It was like he was trying to swallow her face!"
"He was not, Nikki." she said. She turned to Darien, "I and my husband are very sorry about our son Nikolai. He's very protective."
Darien groaned, "I see that. Damnit, he has some strong teeth."
"He sure does." Skyler said. "And they're not even adult teeth. We're going to have to keep a muzzle on him from biting people."
She huffed at him, "He's know biting people are wrong, don't you, Nikki?" she said as she eyed him.
"Yes, mommy." he said before Skyler put him down. He glared up at Darien and Darien glared back. Nikki turned and huffed out his nose, taking Haley hand in his.
"Now we all really should get going." her dad said. "You know your mom with celebration and the little Rugrats have bedtimes. We don't need them up all night now.".
"Hell right we don't.", Tristan said. "Micah likes that too. He'll be up all night and sleep all afternoon. Colleen and I never have time to sleep then."
"Good, let's get going." he said before turning. "But really, Darien, come around real soon. Lena mom would like to meet you and believe me," he said, leaning closer to him, "She's scarier than me."
As they left all left, Lena stayed behind to say by.
"I'm really sorry about my family." she said. "We're weird, I know. So Armando Molina, huh? Where that come from".
He gave her a look, "Armando is what my dad wanted to call me and his last name was Molina. I don't like it, so I just tell people Darien Aric Call since it's what my mother picked out."
"Pretty long to me.", she said.
"Sure, Helena Annalise Marie.", he grinned.
She pursed her lips, "Whatever, not as long as your." she said. "But anyways, I'm sorry for my brothers and dad . . . and Nikki."
"What kid just bits people?" he asked.
She shrugged, "He likes to chew on things. Anything hard. Haley has to carry around gum just because of him."
"Well your family is pretty interesting." he said. "And you have more brothers?"
"Yup.", she said.
"How'd you survive with that?"
She chuckled, "I've learn to be the bossy little sister, only way I could." she said. She frowned now, "Do you really have to get back?"
"Yeah.", he said. "Ash didn't realize I left cause his girlfriend was over and they were in his room. But I'm pretty sure he realized anyways when there was no sound being made by me."
"Okay.", she said sadly. "Maybe you could make it around tomorrow? We could meet up in town and just hang out?"
"Uh . . . sure." he said. "Ash would be gone all day mostly for his job, so we could go over to mine."
She teasingly smile, "Hope my brother can't hear you because if they did, that would be bad."
"Like I said, they don't scare me.", he said and she rolled her eyes. "But sure, tomorrow. When?"
"Three at Jonanna's coffee shop? It's three stores down from the super market." she said.
"Okay, I know where that is.", he said. "Three, I'll try to be there on time."
"You better be." she said, poking his chest. "Wouldn't want me brothers on your ass." She pecked him on the cheeks since she felt her brother's eyes on her. "Bye.".
"Yeah, bye." he said before she ran towards her family. When she got to her parents car, she turned and waved by to him, happily smiling at him. He waved bye back and she hopped into the car.
