Star-crossed
Mallory laid down the bed, waiting for hours and hours. He couldn't sleep. The sounds of his stomach rumbling won't let him. His attention to his starvation was averted to the sound of the cell door. He just sat and turned his head weakly. "Who's there?"
A man in a lab coat came in with a medical tray table with wheels. "I'm just here to get your blood sample." The unknown man said.
"But I'm starving."
"We will give you food right after." A hint of fear radiated from the unknown man as he picked up the syringe. Mallory observed the sweat which was produced from the man holding the syringe.
Mallory sighed and informed. "I'm not anything extraordinary. Believe me."
"..." The man held his patient's arms and inserted the syringe to his veins. Mallory winced as the needles pierced his skin.
After just a few seconds, his blood was collected. The unknown man wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and nodded his head. "Thank you for your cooperation."
The man with Mallory's blood sample finally left.
------§-----At Don's Cell ------§-----
Archangel Ariel hurriedly opened the door. She saw Don laying on his back on the cold floor.
"Don? Are you fine?" She asked.
Don just turned his head, enough to see his tired eyes glare piercingly at her. He then stared back at the wall again.
A moment of silence filled the room.
Archangel Ariel rubbed her hands worriedly, "Don?"
"They... Cut off my left hand," He muttered.
She took a deep breath then responded, "I... I didn't want that to happen. But Gabriel wanted to remove your sigil tattoo, the demons will find us here."
"I know," he grunted. "I thought you will not let him do that."
She paused. "My hands are tied, Don."
Don fully turned around and stood up. He shown her his bandaged arm and angrily spoke, "Zeradkiel would never let them cut my hand!"
"Zeradkiel? Zeradkiel left after you descended!" Ariel defended, clinching her fist as her wings rose defensively. "He would do what I would!"
"No! He would stand up like he always do! He left because you turned your back on him when he needed you!"
Archangel Ariel gasped loudly in shock. Her wings fell down quickly as she covered her mouth. She stares at Don with aghast.
She shook her head and shut the door. She locked it and rubbed her face in shame.
"Zeradkiel was a fool. I didn't turn my back on him, he was being unreasonable. I can't pick my friends over my duties," She told to herself, leaning her head on the wall.
Loud steps came from the end of the hall. She stood up straight and face the direction of the foot steps. An impatient voice boomed the halls.
"Ariel! Have you done gathering enemy Intel?" Gabriel asked, holding a bunch of files on his hands.
She firmly nodded and gave the notepad to the other Archangel. He scanned the pages quickly and nodded back to her.
"That's all we can do with this traitor, Ariel. It's time to execute him."
Archangel Ariel panicked as soon as she heard the word "Execute."
"Execute? But Gabriel, aren't we being a bit too hasty?" She excused.
"No buts, Ariel. We cannot have bare to have Don linger here any longer. He's a very tricky one like his father!"
Archangel Gabriel put his hand on the fellow Archangel's broad shoulder, "Don't sympathize with demons, Ariel. You know what happened to Niveah, Right?"
"Niveah didn't deserve her execution! She was a young naive angel!" She told him, pushing his hand away in disapproval.
"You know the rules, Ariel!" he said proudly, "They are strict for a good reason. Niveah knew the rules."
Ariel angrily sighed and left quickly.
Gabriel shrugged and let the guards in to drag Don, to be ready for execution.
------§-----At Mallory's Cell ------§-----
Three days had passed. All Mal did was sleep most of the time. He had no idea if it was even day or night anymore.
Sanity was slipping until a door squeak alerted him.
Mallory opened his eyes to see Ariel with a small tray of food. "Where is Don?" He questioned her.
"Shh... Don't let my presence be known." She whispered, "The answers you seek will be underneath the tray."
Ariel laid down the tray quickly and then asked. "Mallory. This is your name, right?"
"Yes?" Mallory replied while chewing on the sandwich from the tray.
"I see. You two are together, am I right?"
"Right."
"How did it happen?"
Mallory paused and pondered. He gazed at the ceiling and answered. "I knew when he gave me the look."
"What do you mean?"
"The look. You know…" Mallory slipped a grin, putting down his meal. "When we first met, he gave me the kind of look that gave me a bit of a goosebump. The look of enamor, eyes sparkling with curiosity and admiration that flattered me intensely."
Ariel raised her brows from surprise, "And I assume you were right?"
"Oh, definitely. I don't usually believe in miracles but Don is a living example in my life. Never in my life I felt so pampered."
"How sweet."
"And he was very passionate in bed."
Both bursted into laughter, then quickly shushed themselves. Mallory took another bite in his sandwich as Ariel gave another question. "What did you think you have done to make Don be taken by you?"
"Not sure." Mallory said after gulping down all the water in the bottle. "I was just being myself. I guess he was curious how could I be so unbothered by how anyone thinks of me. He was drawn to me... eventually. Just a guess from yours truly."
Ariel nodded amusingly. She then realized the time and stood up. "Thank you for answering my questions."
"No problem. It's nice to finally talk to someone." Mallory spoke.
Ariel gave a warm smile and waved goodbye before leaving the room. Mallory remembered what she first said and checked under the food tray. He saw a ripped out paper of outlined notes from an unknown researcher.
It reads,
May 15, 9:30am
- The execution of the Nephilim, Don, will be held at room 777.
10:40am*
- The test subject will be euthanized on his bed. Room 13.
Mallory Terrance (formerly Marshal) turns out to be not the one we are looking for,
but interestingly, it seemed that his blood had been mixed with a Demon's blood - the same one that has the Nephilim's dna.
The cause of this unusual case can be either, ;
>blood transfusion >Ingestion
Side note - I have researched that some cults participate in drinking demon's blood to gain immortality dark powers. The downside, is which the owner of the blood could easily possess the host's body and be used the host as a puppet.
*Reminder:
Change of plans.
Test subject should be euthanized immediately this morning*
