This series is up on Netflix, and it currently has two seasons with a third coming soon. It's based off Anne of Green Gables by L.M Montgomery, and for maybe the first time ever, I think it's equal to the book, even if there are quite a few changes. I'll call it Awae for short. I'll also try not to give spoilers so you can watch it yourself.

The first episode is almost exactly like the first few book chapters, and even though changes started happening in episode 2, I already knew that it was going to be brilliant. It tackles issues like feminism, homophobia and racism while somehow still keeping the show quite light hearted. I say quite, because Anne has a seriously dark past.

Characters - Amybeth McNulty portrays Anne brilliantly, and Lucas Zumman does a great job with Gilbert as well. They're actually really similar in age IRL, I think they're both almost 18, but I'm not sure.

Marilla sort of reminds me of Professor McGonagall in a way, you'll understand if you watch it. Mrs Lynde is just brilliant as well.

Shirbert is a slow burn ship, which is both the cutest and most frustrating thing to ever exist. I suppose it makes sense, because at the end of Season 2 Anne is meant to be 14, and Gilbert is either the same age or a year or two older, I can't find anything. Everyone knows they like each other, but they're both too stubborn to admit it.

Cole - You know Gilbert has a crush on you right?

*Shows at least ten pictures of Gilbert looking at Anne and smiling*

Anne - What?! No he doesn't!

Apparently season 3 is coming out later in 2019, and according to interviews with the producers there's going to be a time jump and Anne will be 16. They'll also focus more on romance. I have mixed feelings about this, because

1) Shirbert really works as a slow burn ship, as they're young(ish)

but 2) I really want to see more Shirbert action, even though I know what happens in the books.

I love it so much when Marilla gives that look, and says, 'Matthew Cuthbert!'
