Appearance:
Slinks-Through-The-Light, or just 'Slinks', is a 2 metre tall, slenderly-built Tabaxi with sand-coloured fur marked with burgundy stripes, pointed ears and a long, coiling tail that ends in a tuft of coarse golden hair. He also possesses many of the other classic features of his catlike kin, including a feline face, retractile claws and sharp teeth. A short, ragged mane surrounds his face, and he has long, wiry whiskers and eyebrows pierced with metal rings.

Slink's most distinguishing features, however, are his eyes. They resemble a pair of blue moons - large and bright as sapphires, with a narrow slit for a pupil cut down the middle. Like real cats and other tabaxi, his eyes glow in the dark, giving of a haunting azure gleam even in the deepest shadows. He moves with a liquid grace when doing anything, be that walking, climbing, prowling on all fours through the night, sauntering through the streets or even just picking up an object. Slinks has a soft, chilling voice and a strange accent. He is known to purr when happy and to growl when threatened.

Slinks typically dresses flamboyantly, wearing supple leather and richly-dyed cloths of red, cream, purple and blue, decorated with jewellery and bright yellow tassels. He wears no shoes, instead walking upon his bare paws, with his tail mostly hidden under the broad kilt of cloth that hangs down from his waist. This garb is both to draw attention to Slinks and to make his foes underestimate him, given that to them, he looks more clown than notorious criminal. What is even more surprising is that, even when dressed this way, if Slinks desires to, he can go completely unnoticed just as easily as he can draw the eyes of a crowd. No matter where he goes, Slinks is never seen without his moonstone amulet, which is his most treasured possession, for it is the holy symbol of his goddess, Selune - the goddess of the moon.

Personality:
Slinks is a charming, roguish, laid back and happy-go-lucky individual with a fun-loving nature and a youthful, optimistic outlook on life. He is wonderfully eccentric, so much that some would consider him mad, as he takes obsessive interest in things most would consider mundane, like playing cards, candles and plants. He almost seems to dance through life, moving from one place to another as he continues to be a bizarre blend of simultaneous wandering priest, thief, entertainer, folk hero and conman. He also has a very unique way of speaking, referring to himself entirely in the third person, such as "Slinks has wares, if you have coin." No-one other than him knows why he does this, and he has yet to reveal why he has acquired this habit. A sign of madness, perhaps, or maybe something more?

The tabaxi is a mystery to those who know him. He is outgoing, yet secretive. Childish, but intelligent. Impulsive, and yet strangely wise. Incredibly deceptive and devious, Slinks is a silver-tongued liar whose words always have double meaning, and he keeps many secrets close to his chest. Rarely confrontational, he prefers to outwit and outsmart people, playing things smart and to his strengths instead of being bull-headed and direct. No matter what, Slinks lives life to the fullest, and never lets an opportunity pass him by,

Slinks has an insatiable appetite for pulling tricks and pranks. As such, objects are liable to go missing whenever he is around, ranging from gold, gems and other valuables to everyday objects like pots and pans. However, Slink's antics are (mostly) harmless, and he is well been known to return such items of his own accord after having his fun. Chaotic in the most literal of ways, he follows no rules save his own and those of his goddess. And even then, Selune is not the most demanding deity in terms of commandments.

However, make no mistake - Slink's faith and loyalty to Selune are cast-iron and absolute. Grateful that the goddess gave him another chance at life, Slinks loves her wholeheartedly and follows her will without question. Slink's duties as a cleric of Selune is probably the one thing in his life he actually takes seriously, which belies Slink's views that the material world takes second priority when compares to matters of a spiritual nature.

This is why Slinks steals and cons so haphazardly. As he sees it, the material goods of this world truly don't mean that much, and so the joy he gains from people falling for his tricksy ways, and the lessons he teaches others in how fools and their money are easily separated, are more important than whatever wealth they lost. He claims to speak from personal experience in losing something incredibly valuable, but he has never given the details of exactly what this is other than "Something so precious that most only get it once..."

Backstory:
Slinks was born to a travelling Tabaxi clan, the Breathing Mists Clan, coming into the world at night under a bloodmoon. Also, when he was born, he briefly cast no shadow when he was held up into the crimson moonlight. Considering his birth marked by ill omens that foretold that the child would bring death and ruin to the clan, the Breathing Mists abandoned the baby in a human village, wanting nothing to do with it.

As such, Slinks had to grow up fast in a home where he wasn't wanted, as many humans see Tabaxi as thieves and ne'er-do-wells. Living on the streets, stealing food and making off with other people's belongings, Slinks became an accomplished criminal and survivalist. No-one could get rid of him no matter how hard they tried, and Slinks started to take pride in his nefarious nature. He was the talk of the town, and when he heard so many people said that they saw him 'slink through the dark', Slinks adopted that name because he had nothing else to call himself. His clan had never given him a name, and it was a far more noble title than the other names he was called, like 'The Alley Cat' or 'The Trash-Gobbler'.

Soon enough, Slinks-Through-The-Dark was a young man, and his ambitions expanded beyond being the continual pest of a small mountain village. He wanted more, and so he set off to make it big in the cities. Migrating from the mountains to the urban areas of the D&D world, he quickly set about depriving nobles of their jewels and priests of their treasured relics. He took jobs with local crime gangs as a freelance cutpurse and cat burglar, stealing items and selling them to fences in exchange for coin. He also learned magic during this time, although Slinks has never told anyone how he managed to do this...

What is far more relevant is that while Slinks was finally rich and was starting to live the high life, gaining notoriety as 'The Night Swindler' and having a secret den where he ate fine food and relaxed on silken blankets in secret... he had also made himself a LOT of enemies due to his antics. And after a few years, this finally caught up with him when a coalition of nobles bribed a powerful crime lord to set Slinks up and kill him. The bounty - 1 million gold coins.

That night, Slinks was led into the crime lord's den by the offer of a job that would make the entire gang rich... only to be ganged up on and stabbed to death. He was then unceremoniously taken outside the city and dumped in the woods to be eaten by wolves. There his body lay under the full moon, lifeless and still, for a long while...

However, as the tabaxi's blue eyes gazed blankly up at the moon, the moon turned that same colour. And all of a sudden, Slinks began to breath again! Air filled his lungs, his heart pounding in his wound-covered chest, and as his ears flicked, he heard a voice speak to him...

Slinks has never spoken of what the voice said, but he will openly say who it was who brought him back from the dead - Selune, the goddess of the moon.

Following this event, the Tabaxi took a new name to make his rebirth - Slinks-Through-The-Light - in reference of the light of the moon under which he had returned. And, instead of returning to his life as a career criminal, Slinks left the city he had attempted to make the big time in behind forevermore, setting off to carry out a new mission as a cleric of the Moon Goddess.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Slinks is a highly versatile combatant. He is agile and quick as a wink, his natural Tabaxi dexterity combined with his life as a thief making him a terrifyingly deft adversary to face. Instead of great longswords, battleaxes and guns, Slinks prefers finesse-based weapons like shortswords and rapiers, and he is a deft, silent shot with his hand crossbow. This means he can fight in both melee and range, and his fighting style is one of swift, sudden stabs and slashes combined with quick, uncanny dodges. Slinks is a dirty fighter, and he will attack from stealth with blade, bow or even his claws if he can, knowing it will give him an edge.

Slinks is also a skilled caster, having learned magic even before he became a cleric through unknown means, and also drawing power from Selune herself after being initiated into her worship. However, Slinks is not one from throwing fireballs and lightning bolts. Instead, he specialises in subtler, more cunning magic like teleporting, disguising his appearance, creating illusory copies of himself to confuse attackers.

Slinks also has a knack for mimicry and forgery. He is able to imitate the voices of others, which, when combined with his shapeshifting magics, means he can pull of even the trickiest of ruses with great skill. He can also create fake items to replace those he steals if necessary, leaving his victims none the wiser.

Slinks is an incredibly elusive foe, hard to pin down and even harder to kill. But even he has pitfalls. His light armour means that if an attack does land, it will often draw blood, and his constitution is not the highest, leaving him with only moderate health. Also, foes that can dispel his illusions, his main means of protection, can present a great challenge. Lastly, while Slinks is good at fighting enemies one-to-one, crowds present a challenge, as their numbers can prevent escape. If surrounded, outmatched and without a back door, Slinks is as dead as a catskin rug.
