Name: Logan Galehaut

Titles/Nicknames: Ser Logan Galehaut, the Young Griffin, Logan Brightclaw, the Hooded Knight, the Disinherited Knight. Later becomes known as The Knight of the Griffin, Lord of Frostpeak, Logan Skybreaker and Lord Protector of the Vale.

Age: 21 in Season 1 (Born 277 AC in the Vale)

Gender: Male

House: House Galehaut
Sigil: A White Griffin on a Dark Blue Field
Family Words: 'Our Vigil Unending'
Lands: The Vale
Castle: Frostpeak
Serves: House Arryn

Faceclaim: Henry Cavill

Appearance: Logan is 6'2'' tall, and is a muscular and well-built young man with thick, dark brown hair, high cheekbones, a strong, square jaw and bright, sky-blue eyes - the famous Griffin's Gaze of House Galehaut. He is broad-shouldered, straight as a lance and robust, with muscles are hard as iron and a stomach flat and strong as an oaken shield.

Logan rarely ties his hair back, preferring to let it fall naturally and frame his face. While he normally goes clean-shaven, he can grow a full beard. His chest and limbs bear several vicious-looking scars and bruises - the results of wounds he sustained in combat against bandits, beasts and barbarian tribes. Logan has a deep, smooth voice which can be both gentle and stern in equal measure.

Logan typically wears steel plate armour that, while often polished and kept well-repaired, still bears marks and scars of battle. He also often wears a hooded navy cloak, and it is this attire and his penchant for wandering that gives him his nickname of 'The Hooded Knight'. For formal occasions, he dons a well-fitting tunic of dark blue slashed with silver across the chest, or a black doublet with silver clasps under a fur-trimmed black cape. Upon the battlefield or at tourneys, he wears a visored helm and carries an iron-rimmed heater shield painted with the griffin of House Galehaut, white on blue.

Personality: At heart, Logan is a man of virtue, honour and principal. He has a strong moral conscience, always keeps his word, and strives to do the right thing no matter the situation or the cost to his own life. Stoic, strong-willed and honest, he has no stomach for deception and is never afraid to speak his mind. Logan has never desired to become a lord or king - fantasies of wealth, land, titles and power have never appealed to him. Instead, he wants to be remembered as a great hero of Westeros, someone who served the Seven Kingdoms and its people for the right reasons. As a knight, he believes strongly in the code of chivalry and dutifully follows its tenets.

On top of this, the Young Griffin is courageous, intelligent, well-spoken and quick-witted. He is a strong, agile and very skilled fighter, having trained in the knightly pursuits of horse, lance and sword ever since he could hold a stick. Daring and resilient, he is more than able to face defeat and keep pushing through despair, both in battle and in life overall. Logan is an avid jouster, duellist and falconer, but he isn't just about martial prowess - he also enjoys reading and music, as well as telling stories of both his own adventures and the great heroes of old. A life spent as a hedge knight has made him frugal and temperate. He is not particularly pious, and while he keeps faith with the Seven, his time in the North has also made him respectful of the Old Gods. Like most Galehauts, Logan is not ashamed of the First Men blood in his veins, and he is proud of his house's heritage and legacy.

Driven and determined to the point of being stubborn, with a diligent and perfectionist attitude, Logan never stops trying to be better - when he sets his mind to something, he will achieve it or die trying. He is kind and compassionate to those close to him, with a dry sense of humour, and is respectful to his allies and friends alike. However, he is never afraid to stand up to others, and never takes an insult lying down. Logan can also be surprisingly cunning, but he does prefer to face his foes honourably, and eschews political intrigue, seeing it as cowardly.

While Logan is undeniably brave and bold, he is also fiery and quick-tempered, and as such can often be rash in his actions. This is not his only flaw though, as his perfectionism also makes him humble to a fault - he rarely acknowledges his own virtues and often slips into bouts of self-loathing, viewing himself as worthless when he fails to measure up the lofty, unrealistic standards of life that he sets for himself. He also often believes that people are entirely defined by their family and ancestry - a trait that can lead him to be prejudices against people like the Lannisters and the Martells. But his greatest flaw is undoubtedly that he is just too hard on himself, and his drive to be like the heroes of his house is so great that it eclipses everything else.

Relationships: Logan is very close with all of the Starks, viewing them as family to him. He venerates Ned Stark as if he is a second father, considering it an esteemed honour to serve as a member of his household. He also holds Lady Catelyn in high regard, especially given that they are among the few people in Winterfell who follow the Faith of the Seven, and respects her greatly.

Logan is friends with all the Stark children, but he is particularly dear with Jon and Arya - the three call themselves 'The Outcasts of Winterfell' because of their mutual talent for not fitting in. Logan pays no heed to Jon's bastard heritage, as he knows what it is to be considered a shame to your family from his own experiences, and treats him like a brother. Logan doesn't look down on Arya's desire to fight, and unbeknownst to Catelyn, he actually encourages it, giving the young Stark girl a few secret combat lessons whenever he can.

Logan is also close with Bran, who wants to be a knight himself. Logan has offered to take the young boy as a squire when he's older, but it remains Ned's choice whether this actually happens or not. Alongside Ser Rodrick Cassel, Logan is currently teaching Bran how to fight with a sword and shoot with a bow. Since Sansa enjoys stories of knights and chivalry, she and Logan are also friends, and Sansa is almost always the most eager to listen when Logan starts recounting tales of his adventures alongside his uncle.

Logan and Robb Stark get along well enough, for they share interests and are of similar age. However, deep down, Logan can't help but be slightly envious of Robb because of how Ned has always been proud of his son simply for being who he is. And while Logan is proud of Robb just the same, he wishes that his own father treated him as Ned treats his eldest son...

Logan's other friends in Winterfell include Ser Rodrik Cassel, a fellow knight, and Maester Luwin, both of whom Logan respect for their age and wisdom. He is also kind to Hodor. The Young Griffin has made friends in the past with Lord Yohn Royce, Ser Loras Tyrell and Lord Beric Dondarrion. The legacy of Logan's uncle Oren also works in his favour, as figures like King Robert Baratheon and Ser Barristan Selmy know of Logan through his uncle, as they all met Oren in the past during Robert's Rebellion or even before. Throughout his story, Logan also makes friends with Brienne of Tarth, Podrick Payne, Gendry Baratheon, Davos Seaworth and most of the members of House Martell, including Doran and Oberyn.

However, not all of Logan's relationships are so amiable. He and Theon Greyjoy don't get on, both because Logan and his uncle were involved in stopping the Greyjoy Rebellion and because Logan openly considers the Ironborn 'Old Way' that Theon holds dear to be vile and idiotic. Logan also dislikes Bronn for being a sellsword, as well as Gregor Clegane, Meryn Trant and Jaime Lannister (at first), considering them dishonourable men who slander their knighthoods by acting little better than common thugs. His relationship with Lysa and Robin Arryn is on shaky ground, for while Logan and Jon Arryn were good friends, Lysa has never liked Logan.

The reason why? Petyr Baelish - a man Logan has a deep-seated dislike for. The two men met years ago, in the Vale, where Baelish was attempting to extort a poverty-stricken village of coin by using a group of sellswords to threaten the locals. Logan stood up for the villagers and killed the sellswords, whereupon Littlefinger backed down and fled. Ever since then, the two men have met each other multiple times, since they are both from the Vale, and each time, their dislike for each other has grown.

Background:
The firstborn child of Lord Josef Galehaut and Lady Carolei Waynwood, Logan was set from birth to become lord of House Galehaut's lands and of their ancestral castle, Frostpeak.  However, instead of entering the world of politics, Logan set himself on becoming a knight of the Seven Kingdoms and following in the footsteps of his uncle, Ser Oren Galehaut, known more famously as Oren the Unyielding or The Knight of the Griffin.

However, Logan's stepmother, Lady Margret Donniger, whom his father married shortly after Carolei died under mysterious circumstances when Logan was 4, strongly opposed this. Margret was a cruel and controlling woman who wanted to see House Galehaut, a family mired in ancient pride and traditions, cast aside their honour and start climbing the political ladder. As such, she tried to forcibly make Logan into the type of heir she wanted - a ruthless and tyrannical politician, and when Logan turned to his father for help, Lord Josef, a cowardly and weak-willed man, did nothing to stop her or defend his son.

Oren, however, stood up to Margret, opposing her attempts to seize power within Frostpeak, and gladly took Logan under his wing. This experience shaped Logan deeply, causing him to respect his brave, honourable and strong-willed uncle more than his cowering father, and also caused him to despise politics and scheming, associating them with dishonour, betrayal and Margret's vicious cruelty.

Becoming his uncle's squire at the age of 10, Logan began to learn the virtues and duties of true knights, and even fought beside his uncle during the Greyjoy Rebellion at the age of 12 - his first taste of battle. Working hard and training day-and-night for years under his uncle's tutelage, Logan learned how to fight, ride, joust and command in battle. And when his uncle felt that he was ready, Logan was knighted at the age of 15 - officially welcomed into the Knights of the Vale. Together, Logan and Oren travelled to the Eyrie and stayed with Lord Jon Arryn, fought against the hill tribes attacking the small folk, hunted down bandits in the Riverlands and went on all sorts of adventures. Over the years this happened, the two became incredibly close, their bond becoming that of a father and a son...

However, when Logan was 17, his uncle was killed in combat by a hill tribe chieftain, Morg the Mighty. Taking up his uncle's Valyrian steel sword, Sacrifice, Logan defeated the chieftain and carried his uncle's body all the way back to Frostpeak so that the man he idolised could have a proper burial. For his courage and sense of duty, Logan informally gained the title of 'Logan Brightclaw', but the relationship between him and his father and stepmother remained cold as ever, especially when Margret introduced Logan to her son and Logan's half-brother, Steffon Galehaut, upon his arrival.

Logan began to feel as though his family had forgotten where they came from, and instead of striving to go out and do great things, as all Galehauts had done before them, his parents had fallen from grace, seeming totally content to slump back and play politics. And now, with his uncle dead, the Young Griffin felt it was his duty alone to carry on the true legacy of House Galehaut. A legacy of true knights, champions of justice and honour, laid down since the earliest days of Westeros.

As such, following the funeral, Logan made preparations to leave. His mother Margret threatened that if he did so, she would have him immediately disinherited, and that lordship of Frostpeak would pass instead to his Steffon after his father's death. But Logan simply told her that if she and the rest of his family could not accept him as he was, he would have no place among them anyways.

Setting out the next day, Logan returned to his crusade in the name of honour, justice and chivalry. He journeyed into the Mountains of the Moon to continue protecting folk from the hill tribes. Then, he travelled beyond the Vale, hunting down outlaws, bandits and any who would threaten the people of Westeros. But the young, homeless man still felt empty, as if he had to do more than he was already doing...

And then, when he was almost 19, he arrived in the North. Still seeking a greater purpose, and even considering going to join the Night's Watch, he ended up in Winterfell on his way to The Wall. However, learning of a hedge knight in his castle, Lord Eddard Stark went to meet the young man. He and Logan spoke, and the Young Griffin learned that Ned knew his grandfather Oren, and that they became good friends both before and during Robert's Rebellion. With sadness in his voice, Logan told Ned of his uncle's death, of his own disinheritance from his family line, and of the past two years spent wandering Westeros alone, fighting against those who would harm the innocent.

What happened next was something Logan didn't expect. Ever-honourable, Lord Stark offered to take Logan into his service as a household knight.

At first, Logan was apprehensive, considering himself unworthy to serve the Lord of Winterfell. But Ned insisted, stating that Logan was clearly capable and that any relative of Oren Galehaut was welcome in the North. Hearing this, Logan changed his mind and took the offer, hoping to continue his uncle's legacy of chivalry and knighthood in the service of one of the men who had defied the Mad King.

And so it was that Logan ended up staying in Winterfell for almost three years. During this time, he became good friends with most of the Stark children - especially Arya, Bran and Jon Snow - and became a a companion and sworn sword to Ned Stark himself.

Slowly, Logan began to feel that he had a home again - that he had a family again. Until one day, when King Robert came, and everything changed...

Quotes from Logan:

'I am not a Stark, nor am I a Northman. But my oath to Lord Eddard still stands.'

'A false knight basks in the light of his own glory. A true knight brings that light to the realm and its people.'

'Do not seek to just be your ancestors. Instead, be better than them.'

'In peace, duty. In war, valour. In death, sacrifice. That is what it means to be a Galehaut of Frostpeak.'
