Appearance:
Logan is 6'2'' tall, and is a powerfully-built young man with fair, but tanned skin and rough-hewn features - he has a strong, square jaw, a heavy brow and a straight nose - along with a head of collar-length black hair. His muscles are hard as iron, his chest and shoulders broad, and his stomach as flat and strong as an oaken shield. Logan's most striking feature, though, is his eyes, which have shimmering irises the colour of liquid gold - the famous Griffin's Gaze of House Galehaut, a hereditary trait of the family.

Logan rarely ties his hair back, preferring to let it fall naturally and frame his face. While he normally goes clean-shaven, he can grow a full beard. He keeps his hair in check using his dagger. His chest and arms bear many scars and bruises - the results of combat wounds sustained against the many bandits, beasts and monsters he as fought over the years. Logan also has a deep, smooth voice which can be both gentle and stern in equal measure.

Logan wears steel plate armour under a surcoat and a hooded cloak, both dyed dark blue. He carries his sword Sacrifice, passed down from his uncle to him, by his side in a scabbard, and also bears a heater shield painted with the sigil of the Galehauts - a white griffin against a navy background. He takes great care of his gear, especially his sword and shield, as he holds them dear to his heart.

Personality:
At heart, Logan is a man of virtue, honour and principal. He has a strong moral conscience, always keeps his word, and strives to do the right thing no matter the situation or the cost to his own life. Bold, strong-willed and honest, he has no stomach for deception and is never afraid to speak his mind. Logan has never desired to become a lord or king - fantasies of wealth, land, titles and power have never appealed to him. Instead, he wants to be remembered as a great hero, someone who served the mortal world and its people for the right reasons. Raised as a knight, he believes strongly in the code of chivalry, dutifully following its tenets, and has a stoic and reserved demeanour in his actions, rarely raising his voice or losing control.

On top of this, the Young Griffin is courageous, well-spoken and quick-witted. He is a strong, agile and very skilled fighter, having trained in the knightly pursuits of horse, lance and sword ever since he could hold a stick. Daring and resilient, he is more than able to face defeat and keep pushing through despair, both in battle and in life overall. Logan is an avid jouster, duellist and falconer, but he isn't just about martial prowess - he also enjoys reading and music, as well as telling stories of both his own adventures and the great heroes of old. But his primary hobby is painting, which he enjoys greatly, capturing images of beauty in the hopes that they might never be forgotten, and he can often be seen repainting and maintaining the griffin sigil of House Galehaut on his shield.

This is undoubtedly because Logan is incredibly proud of his house's heritage and legacy, and considers himself the last true Galehaut - one of the many things that drives him to uphold his oath as a paladin. As paladins go, he is devout enough, but he is not a crazed zealot - his focus is more on protecting and bringing justice to the innocent that directly praying or servicing the gods in a temple. However, he is still pious, and a life spent as a hedge knight has made him frugal and temperate, as well as giving a lot more practical skills and wisdom than a noble might have. In fact, despite being highborn himself Logan dislikes aloof nobility, considering them foppish and arrogant jackasses who sit upon their laurels instead of actually doing some good in the world. He also hates high-society banquets and balls, finding them boring and despising the vacuous, deceitful conversations they provide.

Driven and determined to the point of being stubborn, with a diligent and perfectionist attitude, Logan never stops trying to be better - when he sets his mind to something, he will achieve it or die trying. He is kind and compassionate to those close to him, with a dry sense of humour, and is respectful to his allies and friends alike. However, he is never afraid to stand up to others, and never takes an insult lying down. Logan can also be surprisingly cunning, but he does prefer to face his foes honourably, and eschews political intrigue, seeing it as cowardly.

While Logan is undeniably brave and bold, he also has a fiery temper, and as such can often be rash in his actions, especially when his anger comes out. This is not his only flaw though, as his perfectionism also makes him humble to a fault - he rarely acknowledges his own virtues and often slips into bouts of self-loathing, viewing himself as worthless when he fails to measure up the lofty, unrealistic standards of life that he sets for himself. Undoubtedly too hard on himself, his drive to be like the heroes of his house is so great that it eclipses everything else. He also often believes that people are entirely defined by their family and ancestry - a trait that can lead him to be prejudiced and believing that 'the sins of the father are the sins of the son'.

Both Logan's pride in, and the feeling of obligation to, his houses' legacy means that he can be swayed by promises of fame and glory, which feed upon his desire to live up to the expectations placed upon him to become a figure of legend. His stubborn streak, along with his firm belief that the ends do not justify the means also mean that, for better or worse, he will refuse to do certain things purely to attain victory. He also cannot take an insult to himself or his family lying down - a trait that frequently gets him into trouble as he will start fights to defend his pride or the honour of House Galehaut.

Backstory:
Born into the noble house in the Kingdom of Cormyr, Logan was the first child of Lord Josef Galehaut and Lady Carolei Merendil. Being the firstborn son, Logan was expected from birth to become lord of his family's lands and of their ancestral castle, Frostpeak Citadel. However, instead of entering the world of politics, Logan set himself on becoming a paladin and a knight of House Galehaut, a house with a long tradition of great knights. In particular, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his uncle, Sir Oren Galehaut, an adventuring paladin of the god of justice, Bahamut the Platinum Dragon. Famous across many lands, Oren was a champion of the common people known more famously as Oren the Unyielding or The Knight of the Griffin.

However, this incredibly angered Logan's stepmother, Lady Margret Hyraken, a cruel, controlling and pathologically ambitious woman who wanted to see House Galehaut, a family mired in ancient pride and traditions, cast aside their honour and start climbing the political ladder. And his father, Lord Josef Galehaut, a cowardly and hen-pecked man who was absent for much of Logan's life, did nothing to disagree with this. Logan's biological mother, Carolei Merendil, died when Logan was 4 from a sudden illness, and while Logan tried to make his relationship with Margret work at first, her cold-hearted viciousness soon caused him to despise her.

Continuing to focus on following his dream of becoming a paladin, Logan became his uncle's squire at the age of 10, joining Oren in his travels. Together, they travelled the world as knight and squire, and Oren taught Logan everything he knew - how to fight, how to survive in the wilds, how to command in battle. But above all, Oren taught Logan the values of a true knight. To protect the weak and innocent and to fight for what was right, no matter what. Logan took these lessons to heart, working hard to be like his uncle, and their bond became that of father and son.

However, when Logan was 19, his uncle was killed!

Sir Oren fought against a narzugon known only as Aechtar Ebonheart, who was said to be plaguing villages and outposts in the Eastern Stormhorn Mountains, near Frostpeak. Oren went out to face the creature, and while Logan wanted to go with him, Oren told his squire to stay at home, not wanting to risk his life. Unruly and stubborn, however, Logan snuck out and rode on his uncle's spare horse to follow him.

Logan arrived to see Oren and Aechtar engaged in mortal combat, and just as he arrived, tragedy struck when the duel abruptly came to an end. Aechtar was dead, sent back to the Nine Hells whence he came, while Oren lay bleeding in the field of battle, his armour rent and his wounds deep. Logan immediately came rushing to his uncle's side, desperately trying to save the life of his mentor and father figure...

But he failed. Sir Oren died in his nephew's arms, and so Logan carried his uncle's corpse back home to Frostpeak so that the man he idolized could have a proper burial beside the other great knights of House Galehaut.

For his courage and sense of duty, Logan informally gained the title of 'Logan Brightclaw', but the relationship between his remaining family was cold as ever. Logan began to feel as though his family had forgotten where they came from, and instead of striving to go out and do great things, as all Galehauts had done before them, they had fallen from grace and seemed totally content to slump back and play politics. And now, with his uncle dead, the Young Griffin felt it was his duty alone to carry on the true legacy of House Galehaut. A legacy of true knights, champions of justice and honour, laid down since the earliest days of their family.

As such, following the funeral, Logan took up his uncle's sword Sacrifice and made preparations to leave. Margret threatened that if he did so, she would have him immediately disinherited, and that lordship of Frostpeak would pass instead to his baby half-brother Steffon Galehaut, Margret's first son, after Josef's passing. But Logan simply told her that if she and the rest of his family could not accept him as he was, he would have no place among them anyways. As such, while still being a Galehaut, Logan has been removed from his family's line of succession and will not inherit Frostpeak upon his father's death.

When Margret told Logan that she and his father considered him a failure, Logan replied with 'You and Josef can think what you like. My father - my real father - is dead. And so long as I draw breath, I will do what he taught me to do.'

Setting out on his way, Logan returned to his crusade, taking an oath then and there to devote himself to the causes of honour, justice, chivalry and the protection of the innocent, no matter what.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Logan is a skilled warrior, having grown up learning how to fight from his earliest days. Incredibly strong and tough due to his training as a knight, as well as spending most of his life on the road as a squire, and later as a paladin in his own right, Logan fights with courage in the front lines, either using sword-and-shield or wielding Sacrifice in two hands for more powerful blows. He can also fight from horseback using either sword or lance to great effect, and is a great athlete, skilled at climbing and swimming. Logan is also extremely wilful and brave, making him resistant to effects like fear or mind control, and can be diplomatic, inspiring and intimidating in equal measure whenever necessary, due to his willpower and charisma.

Logan also possesses magical spells and abilities like most paladins do. His oath of devotion to justice and chivalry appeases the god Bahamut, and so Logan gains special powers from the gods' favour. He can heal the sick and injured, cast spells that protect allies from creatures like fiends and undead, or imbue his sword strikes with divine power to deal immense damage to foes. Logan's proficiency with heavy armour, combined with his healing ability and great resilience, means he can also take injuries as well as dish them out.

However, Logan is not invincible, and has several weaknesses. Firstly, he is comparatively unskilled in ranged combat, as while he can use a bow, it is not where his true skill lies. He also considers fighting from a distance to be a coward's tactic, and so refuses to do it himself. Secondly, since Logan wears heavy armour and his magic does not allow him to teleport or increase his speed, he has low mobility and is vulnerable to getting flanked or outmanoeuvred by faster foes. Thirdly, while Logan can cast spells, his magic is more about utility and augmenting his attacks, and so he cannot perform spells to equal those that wizards can use to devastate masses of enemies, having to make up for this with sheer physical power. And lastly, like all paladins, breaking his oath will result in his divine powers gifted by Bahamut being taken away, and so his actions must always follow chivalry and honour if he wishes to keep them.
