A few images of an OC I created a long time ago - Dragonman. He's been with me for years, and I figured that he finally deserved something.

Appearance:
In his human form, Will has short brown hair, dark eyes, a heavy brow and a square jawline framed by a close-trimmed beard. He is 6 feet tall with a broad-shouldered, athletic and muscular build, and a long scar running down his right forearm. Due to his dragon blood, Will cannot age, so he permanently looks like a man in his early thirties.

In Dragonman form, Will couldn't be more different. His body is covered in dark emerald scales and he has curved golden spikes run down his spine from the top of his head to his long, powerful tail. His head is bald with two long golden horns, and he has sharp teeth, long claws on his fingers and fiery orange eyes with vertical reptilian pupils. He is just as muscular as in his human form, and his legs and forearms are covered by bronze armour marked by patterns depicting dragons and symbols in the draconic language.

Personality:
Outwardly, Will is a quiet, thoughtful and stoic man with an introverted personality. He keeps a lot of things to himself and is sometimes secretive, often coming across to others as distant and preferring to confront his problems on his own. However, underneath the surface, he is undoubtedly a brave, intelligent, honourable and empathetic individual who is passionate and dedicated about whatever he sets his mind to. Much like how he sees being a teacher impacting the lives of his students, Will feels that he had a duty to use his powers to make an impact upon the world and use them for good. As such, he believes heavily in the importance of responsibility and takes many things seriously, though he has a dry sense of humour where appropriate.

Will is direct and straightforward when encountering problems. He is intelligent enough to think his way around difficulties, but he believes there was a clear difference between thinking around a problem and ignoring it, and sought to avoid the latter. While not a 'man of few words' per se, he is rarely frivolous in his speech or manner, instead preferring a 'matter-of-fact' outlook on life. Will is disciplined and hard-working, but he can become obsessive around complex issues, turning them over and over in his head.

Will often draws from historical and philosophical sources to help him solve problems, believing fervently that those who don't learn from history were doomed to repeat it. However, this focus can often make him inflexible in his thinking, and he had a strong stubborn streak that makes it hard for him to change his ways. His driven nature can also make him impulsive at times, often acting without thinking. His personal codes of ethics also means he does not believe that the ends ever justify the means.

Background:
A professor in history and mythology from England, Will and a close friend, Daniel Knight, had both been working for a long time to prove a theory they had that dragons, the creatures of legend themselves, actually did exist. However, they were both ridiculed for a long time for their work as the 'Dragon Men', and soon Daniel left the project. Also, Will's at-the-time girlfriend Katherine said that he should stop. She was aware of how passionate he was about it, but she also made him aware that this was ruining his career. When he seemed pensive about it, she broke up with him and left him behind.

Torn between his belief in his work and the grim knowledge that his theory was destroying his credibility, Will went on a brief vacation alone to the Swiss Alps to make his choice. However, while he was taking a walk upon a mountainside, something crashed into the mountain and caused an avalanche. Swept down the mountain, Will's right arm was cut upon and he was fatally injured. Lying wounded at the bottom of the mountain, he saw and heard a large dying creature, leaking golden blood into the snow. Some of it fell on Will's scar, and he fainted as a burning sensation filled his body.

Waking up, Will found himself having changed. He had scales, horns, wings, and the other features of a dragon! Not only that, but he was inside a massive cavern full of dragons! Living, breathing dragons! He was right all along! The dragon's leader, Arzakon the Dragon King, told Will what had happened. The avalanche had been caused by a wounded dragon, and its blood had mixed with Will's, turning him into what he was now and granting him dragonlike powers and attributes. By touching the scar through which the blood had entered his veins, he could transform between his normal human form and his draconic form.

Will was eager to reveal all of this to the world, to prove all those who mocked him wrong. But Arzakon then told Will that under no circumstances could humans learn of that dragons still lived. Hundreds of years ago, dragons were hunted to near-extinction, and this cavern under Mount Everest was the home of the last of their kind. The dragons had existed for centuries hidden from the sight of humanity, and Arzakon would not risk letting his people be destroyed.

Despite his desire to prove the world that he was right, Will understood what was at stake and swore that he would keep their existence a secret. He then stayed with the dragons for a while, learning how to fly and to use his new powers. Then, Will left and returned home, restarting his career as a historian and leaving his theory about dragons behind for good. However, he hopes to also make a new life by using the gift he had been given to help others, seeing it as a responsibility to use his powers for the right reasons and perhaps create a better world where the dragons could one day return...
