OS Series: Second Chances- OS 2: ...and Life was a beautiful Mess !

Sanskar was again sitting on the same bench in the same park, It wasn't like it was a habit for him, neither did he want to make one but something, something just pulled Sanskar back to the same park, to the same bench the very next day, A small genuine smile was playing on his lips as he saw the same two boys playing gaily, Ms Ragini was indeed right, 'Yeh Bache Kal Phir se khelne aayenge, Yahi, Ek dussre ke saath aur inke liye yeh jaghdra Koi maiyne nahi rakhta, Koi Myne Nahi.' Her words were continuously moving in his head as he was looking at the children but
...but these weren't the only words she had said to him, She had said much more, She had made him doubt his decision of revenge, She had made him think about giving life a second chance...Him, Sanskar Maheshwari...A living dead since the death of Kavita.

Her words did shake his thoughts, his revenge, A revenge he kept alive within himself for 2 years...There wasn't a night when he slept peacefully, not when he had all but a park bench to sleep on, neither when he had plush beds earned with his own income... but then, neither he had HER to show him the mirror, show him the difference between right and wrong at that time but was he even wrong? Was his decision of avenging Kavita's death wrong...No, Each corner of his heart echoed this single word, Kavita deserved justice, He deserved justice and he would do justice, No matter what a random stranger preached to him, it's easier said than done...had she been in this situation, Had she lost the love of her life in this way, She wouldn't be saying such stuff, such stupid stuff...His revenge meant his Life even if it meant giving his very life for it, He did not want a new start, He lost his life the very day Kavita had died and He, Sanskar, did not want any new life...No.

Sanskar thought to himself as he got up from the bench, " What am I even doing here? Waiting for her? To talk to her? Why? So that she changes my thoughts? She makes me doubt my revenge again? Am I crazy? How can I? How can I even think to betray Kavita like this?" Sanskar started questioning himself, He started off determinedly, strong-willed but the thought of betraying Kavita...the thought of leaving his revenge on the words of a stranger made him weak, drops of tears fell down his eyelids as immediately wiping them, Sanskar started walking out of the park, " I don't want to meet her, I don't want to talk to her." He continuously told himself as he walked briskly towards his car.

The continuous ringing of his phone brought Sanskar out of his thought process and put a stop to his nonchalant murmuring of the same words again and again.

Taking it out of his pockets, Sanskar glanced at the caller ID for a second and picked up the phone instantly, " Haan Bolo Pathak..." Sanskar questioned in a serious formal tone.

" Sir, I had to inform you, I finally managed to get a picture of one of those sisters, I clicked it in her college, I am in her college itself, Sir should I send you the picture?"

The voice from other side replied in a professional tone as Sanskar's thought process went back to Laksh and the sisters...No half-sisters at his words, What were their names? Swara...Sanskar's eyes widened as he realized what the second name was...Ragini...No, There can be so many girls with the name Ragini, It can't be the same Ragini or... could it be?

" Sir, Should I send her picture?" Pathak again questioned not getting any reply for a while as Sanskar opened his mouth to speak, "Arey, Mr Khushi app? " Sanskar heard the words as he raised his eyes to find Ragini walking up to him raising her left hand high in the air waving to grab his attention, Finally reaching him, She passed him her huge smile.

" App baat Karlijiye, Phir hum Baat Karte hain." Ragini said indicating towards the phone still on Sanskar's ear bringing him out of the sudden wave of thoughts that had him lost.

"Naam Kya hai college ka?" Sanskar asked as he looked higher in the direction from where Ragini had just come out, It had a college board, A college adjacent to the park.

" Sir, M.K. Gandhi college." Pathak replied immediately as Sanskar's eyes widened at his words, " Zarorat Nahi hai, I'll talk to you later." Sanskar spoke up immediately as he turned his attention back to Ragini standing in front of him with her innocent smile, as he cut the call, The girl started speaking immediately...Oh well, They were standing outside M.K. Gandhi collage.

" Sorry for that name, Hume apka Naam Nahi pata na, Phir Humne Socha, apse Kal interaction se koi bana lete hain par Phir koi aur acha Naam nahi sujha...I mean 'Revenge' itna acha nahi Lagta na..." She chuckled in the middle as she hit her own head slightly.

" ...Toh Phir Hume apka bola Hua stern 'Khushi' Yaad Aaya, toh humne wahi rakh Diya." Ragini gave him a proud smile as she completed, a small smile crept up his lips unknowingly at her crazy but cute words.

"I am Sanskar, Sanskar Ma..." Sanskar paused as Ragini stared at him confused at his pause, "...Maheshwari." Sanskar completed and as he did, He got the expected answer.

" Maheshwari?" Ragini spoke as her smile left her lips. Though she had got lost for a moment, She finally managed to leave behind her thoughts and looked again at Sanskar, her smile returning, " Sanskar...Nice name." She complimented as Sanskar's second expectation didn't get fulfilled, he had expected her to try to dig more in his background knowing about his caste.

"Thanks, By the way, What was with that long pause after I mentioned my name? I doubt you really did like it." Sanskar didn't know why but he was now trying to extract some reaction from her.

" No, not about the name, It was about caste, actually I know a family with the same caste so thought something but crazy me, of course, there are so many families with the same caste." Ragini's face brightened up again.

" What you thought?" Sanskar tried to delve deeper in her psyche and as crazy as it sounds, Ragini didn't mind replying patiently to each of his questions which he seemed to ask with a sort of impatient air around himself.

" Well, I thought you were a son of that family..." Ragini giggled as she paused, " Seriously, I know that was a crazy idea, They anyways are just two brothers and a sister and I know them enough to know that they don't have any other son." Ragini completed as Sanskar looked at her blankly, he didn't know how to react, He did wish Ragini was right, He did wish that maybe it would all have been better if he didn't exist at all or better, born in some another family, smaller in prestige but bigger at heart but was it big heart that was needed to understand his Love for Kavita, To understand that killing someone is wrong? His heart wondered, No, The only thing that was needed was a small trace of humanity, even a corner of the heart with it, it would have sufficed, Separating her from him but at least letting her live- The mind answered the heart.

" Abb app Kahan Gum Gaye? Mr Khu...Sanskar?" Ragini snapped her fingers in front of Sanskar's eyes as he was suddenly pulled out of his never-ending thoughts, he looked at her confused as he shook his head, " No Nothing and yes, You are right, I, of course, can't be a son of any such family...My parents live in another city, Leave that...It was ni...ok meeting you, I have some work..." Sanskar spoke still lost as he tried to complete the conversation as concisely as he could, he suddenly wanted to leave; he realized few moments more with the girl and he'll regret it, She had a different aura around herself, a sort of magnetic pull he didn't want to feel...Leave Everything else, She was that Murderer's ex-fiance and he hates everything related to him... Moreover, She had the ability to make him doubt his decisions with a small conversation and that was one thing he didn't want, he could never do...he convinced himself as he tried to walk off only to halt after just crossing her, a soft hold at his wrist had made him pause abruptly, he turned halfway to look back.

"Waise Toh Apke Paas Bohot Time hai park mein Bethne ka..." Ragini turned around speaking as she left his wrist which she had held, midway, her lowered eyelashes with unhappy face giving away the fact that she was a bit sad.

Sanskar looked at her confused as suddenly realizing what she said and did, Ragini raised her eyelashes looking towards Sanskar shocked, " Woh, Am sorry...I just thought I could talk to you so but...you can go." Ragini nodded her head as a sign of letting him go as she turned back instantly and started walking inside the park.

A small smile crept up Sanskar's lips as he saw her innocent antics, then suddenly getting back from the trance, he wavered off the thought and putting on his usual serious face, turned completely to walk out of the park.

Then as he walked a few steps away, his thoughts back to his revenge, a call again disrupted his thinking, he checked the caller ID on the phone that was still in his hands, it was Pathak again.

" Yes Sir, Pic?" Pathak asked as soon as Sanskar picked the call.

" I told you I don't need it, right?" Sanskar replied back, his voice angry.

" Yes sir but...you needed the girls' information so desperately till some time ago so..." Pathak let his voice trail off, he was confused and of course, fearful of his boss's anger.

" Now I don't need the photo, any problem?" Sanskar's tone was stern.

" Ohk Sir, So what should I do now? Try to click the other sister's picture and other details of girls?" Pathak was cautious to not make his already angry boss, angrier.

As soon as Sanskar heard him say so, a thought clicked his mind, he turned to look back and around the park that was visible from the point he was standing at, his eyes searching for Her, there she sat, taking a swing smiling widely; enjoying the experience fully, Her smile was beautiful...Sanskar shrugged off the thought as soon as it passed his mind...How Childish and immature can someone be? He rather thought as  he replied to Pathak, " No, Don't do anything...Go back to the office and  handle the Mehra project, I'll handle this." He cut the phone as soon as he completed.

" Sir Ko Ho Kya Gaya hai?" Pathak spoke to himself confused as he heard the phone beep, then moving his head swiftly in a 'no' he walked away from the college.

"It's important for me, for Kavita or else, Pathak will definitely take months to find out more about these girls...I'll have to talk to her but she can't sway me this time, She is just a nobody infact no, she's Laksh's ex-fiance...I should hate her, I do hate her..." Sanskar muttered to himself nonchalantly as he slowly walked towards Ragini's direction, she was lost in a world of her own, enjoying the slow wind as if she'll fly in it, happy as if it was the first time, happy as if she'll never get this happiness again, for now- She seemed to the perfect personification of the song, 'Jiyo toh bas Phir Aise Jiyo, Jaise ki Akhiri Ho..."

Sanskar paused as soon as he came almost near to a side of the swing, she still hadn't realized his presence.

"Rag...ini...Ragini..." Sanskar called out cautiously as she moved her eyes to the left where he was standing as soon as she heard him, she was visibly surprised for a good 30 seconds before she finally got back her huge smile and then leaving a side of the swing's holder, indicated him to wait. Then she started to lower the speed of the swing as fast she could, she finally tried to get down from the swing excited to talk to him while the speed was still not lowered enough to get down and ended up twisting her foot midway. She was going to almost fall down if not for Sanskar acting instantly and holding her from falling by holding her shoulder and back.

Realizing she was balanced, Ragini looked up to look at Sanskar looking straight at her, his eyes angry. She bit her tongue as she got free from his hold, he let her go off unknowingly though his eyes followed her eyes.

"Woh...Sorry." Ragini spoke scared to have angered the already rude, arrogant man.

Coming out of the trance this crazy girl always left him, Sanskar looked around, embarrassed but moreover disgusted at himself.

"You are so childish..." Sanskar remarked irritateed, still not looking into her eyes.

" I am sorry but you came like that so I just got excited to talk to you..." Ragini tried to explain herself innocently as Sanskar finally couldn't resist looking at her, her innocent eyes reflected her genuineness, her innocent childishness, she wasn't exposed to the world yet, she was just a child in the body of an adult he thought with a small smile...but wasn't she supposed to be a traditional, mature, obedient and all those good and perfect girl words in the dictionary? The girl Mr Maheshwari would choose as a daughter-in-law? Moreover the so-called great, revenge hating girl he had met yesterday? His thoughts wavered as the smile still didn't leave though it shortened.

" So you forgave me, right? And your work?" Ragini smiled excitedly as she spoke so.

" And who told you I forgave you?" Sanskar wondered, moreover he wondered if the situation required her to say a 'Thank you' or the 'Sorry' she was saying.

" Your smile." Ragini gave him one of her biggest smiles, could anybody resist smiling back at it?

'Kavita' The smile faded away from Sanskar's lips as soon as the thoughts came back, What the hell was he doing? He should be ashamed of himself...

" My work?... It's done...So...I was thinking...if you could help me... see around Kolkata? Actually, I have no friends here, I came for some work but I want to see the city, you look like a local so..." Sanskar spoke with pauses. It was a long shot, expecting a girl to show a male, that too a stranger around the city alone had definitely 0.01% chances of succeeding.

Ragini was shocked as she looked at him musing something for a while, she wasn't going to agree.

"Ohk, No problem...I understand, you must be busy." Sanskar indicated towards the swing taunting her as Ragini's eyes widened, she immediately looked towards her wristwatch and within 1 minute of calculating something looked back.

"Done but only public transports, no cars or bike if you have any and you'll pay the bill and I'll decide the place and also, it's 2:30 right now, I need to come back here at 5:30 so only till then, done?" Ragini replied back with her conditions, her innocent face trying hard to show strictness.

It was time for Sanskar's eyes to widen as he nodded, agreeing to her conditions.

" So let me show you our famous bridge first, Howrah Bridge..." Ragini turned and started walking out. Sanskar could sense the excitement in her words as he stood there wondering who the real Ragini was? Was Pathak's information correct? Or was this a case of identical twins? But she recognized him...

Walking a few steps ahead, Ragini realized Sanskar wasn't following, she turned back and looked at him standing still looking towards her or... at her?

" Abb App Kahan BUSY hogaye?" Ragini's shout disrupted Sanskar's thoughts, ok, she was trying to taunt back...note trying but... so even she felt irritated with taunts, Sanskar laughed slightly as he shook his head.

Confused at his laughing, Ragini turned back to continue walking, His laugh subdued now, Sanskar followed.
