When writing numbers in a story, correct grammar would to be type it out.

Ex. Ninety-five

It doesn't matter how high this number is.

Examples

One hundred

One hundred and fifty

Seventy-three

Twenty-seven

One thousand

Forty thousand

You will write most numbers out, not ex. 100. The only time you would put the actual number [ex. 4] is when the number is very specific. If the number is more than three or four words, you would put the actual number.

When writing years, you will always write the number.
