Chapter 13: Betrayed

Kim
Kim...
Kimberly...
"Hey, wake up!"
"Kim, it's 6:05! Hello?"
"I'm up! I'm up," I said, turning over so my mom's cookie breath would stop invading my nostrils.
"Hey, he's coming soon so I suggest you get going. And we also need to something about that wad of hair on your head." She slowly folded her arms and frowned. "We don't have much time, get a move on. C'mon, up!"
"Yeah I get it."

She left and closed the door behind her, letting the soft scent of cookies fill my room in a rush. I picked up the clothes I had laid out before my nap then headed to the bathroom. For the first time, I had the best shower ever. I didn't have to worry about anything or anyone anymore. I could finally feel at peace. Halfway through washing my hair, I heard a sound that made my eyes snap open. My shampoo burned and attacked my eyes. I quickly rinsed them out then turned towards the sound.
Nothing.
I didn't bother putting conditioner. I turned off the tap and grabbed my towel.
"You're making a mess with all your watery footprints," my mother lectured, catching me just as I was leaving the bathroom.
"Oops, I'll go back and finish off in here then." I walked backwards into the bathroom. I decided in keeping my hair slightly damp but in a messy bun. I wasn't in the mood for anything fancy. Plus, Liam said casual.
My head twirled on my neck and I found myself staring at the hole. That thing gave me the creeps. Every time is see it I feel like someone's watching me, like the recorder with show its red light.

"So when should I bring her back?" Jack asked. His hand fit in his front pocket, netting his thumb hang out. His black jeans and his muscle shirt made me melt inside.
Oh my gosh. Maybe I should go back up and change. I thought to myself as I creeped down the stairs. Just as I was about to run up and change, my mother caught sight of me.
"Oh, there she is!" She beamed. "Don't hurry back home. I could use a night alone," she laughed.
"That's fine by me," he chuckled. Something about his smile seemed forced, but I didn't feel the need to worry. Maybe it's just the nerves.
"Bye mom," I kissed her on the cheek before hugging her, "I love you." She pulled away from me and smiled. "Love you too Kim. Have fun!"
We walked out the door and into his car. "So, where are we going?" I asked, flashed my just-brushed pearly whites.
"You'll see." He smirked a little but it quickly faded. He kept his eyes on the road as his speed clocked 120. I started to feel a little tense, so I just turned on the radio.
"Pierce the veil?" I smiled, turning up the volume. It was like the ride home from school all over again.
"Yeah. I like hardcore music. It's who I am," he lost his spring and all his gusto, so I turned down the volume and rested my head on the window.
We pulled up at a rustic, farm restaurant. It was really silent and laid back, right next to a field of tall grass and dandelions. He jumped out of the car and opened up my door. I hopped out and held his hand as we walked to the entrance. The menu was scribbled beautifully on a chalk board and soft jazz was playing.

"Table for 2? The waiter asked, eyeing me down. He leaned in for a hug then fist-pumped Liam.
"Yeah...you two know each other?" I asked, taken aback by his sudden act of kindness.
"Hell yes! We met at a concert and we've been hanging out ever since! So um, this is the girl you were talking about?" He asked, nudging Liam and making me blush.
"Hey man! Just get is a table," Liam huffed, brushing the comment off so I wouldn't ask any questions. We sat down at a table near the entrance. We ordered our drink right away then started talking.
"So, I never really knew why you ever came to therapy sessions?" I asked, looking him in the eye and caressing his fingers. The wind was playing with my hair and tickling my skin.
"Well," he started, but was interrupted by his waiter friend, Jacob (who I learnt hated Twilight). He whispered something to him and Liam got up.
"Sorry, he needs help with something. I'll be back in a sec." He winked at me then smiled. I wanted to question him but quickly shut my mouth as he touched my cheek. "I promise."
He came back a while later, carrying our drinks. "So, Jacob here decided he should get you a drink he invented-on the house. I added my own personal touch. Hope you like it." He smiled, then poured out the drink in front of me. I should've known better. Everything in my life is repeats. The notes, the car rides with Liam, the drinks. Everything happens in identical doubles, like twins.

The soft jazz lulled me to a slow, deep sleep. I could feel my body fall limply into Liam's arms and I heard Jacob open his truck back-door. My back made painful contact with the floor of the trunk. The trunk closed and the oxygen supply decreased. I fell into a deeper coma then it all blanked out. The last thing on my mind was not forgiving Liam for what he was about to do.
