Chapter 1: Karla and Kimberly
In the year 2000, a pair of identical twins were born. Kimberly and Karla. 14 years later they are in Junior High and loving it. Kimberly was so talented and had all the friends, I guess you could call her the 'it girl'. She had a good relationship, a great social life and high marks. Oh and, she could sing.
Karla was way more withdrawn. She goes to class, then goes home. She has a few selected friends whom she's been with since kindergarten, and earned the Dux Scholarship. She's a maths, science and english wizz. Everyone calls her a nerd, even though she's the twin sister of the flawlessly popular "Kimberly Knight".
Kimberly was the beautiful one. I mean they were identical, but Kimberly's hair was so lush and so straight with auburn highlights in her brown hair and a baby blue dip-dye. She had perfect hazel-green eyes and small pink lips that always wore lipgloss. She was athletic so she had a toned body and could walk so effortlessly in heels. Maybe that's the reason why she's the one with the boyfriend.
Karla had brown hair that had uncontrolable curls, light freckles and since she was as blind as a bat, she wore box-shaped glasses and had a retainer. She always wore flats with white knee socks, a miniskirt and a classic bow tie top. Unlike Kimberly, she never wore croptops or heels or make-up. She was all natural.

"Giiiirrrllllssssss!!!!!!!" my mom yelled. Jeepers. I walk over and knock on Karla's door. "Morning sis, time for school!" I said. No reply. This time I bang harder. "I'm up," she mumbled, before getting up too fast and falling over. I giggled softly before heading back to my room. In a race against time, I grabbed a black crop top, red heels, white shorts and my favourite 'infinity' necklace and matching bracelet. I jog to the bathroom with the shower before Karla gets in first.
After drying my hair and putting on my mascara, I head out the bathroom and to my surprise, Karla's already finished everything. I smile at her and her adorable outfit. I secretly like it, but my friends would kill me if I wore that. White socks and magenta pink pumps with tiny heels. She has a pink and white polka dot skirt and a plain white shirt. A tiny bit of lipgloss and mascara make her look so beautiful. Weird how I could think of all of that in less that 5 seconds. She's got her brown curls in a high pony and her tiny bow tie earrings held together with butterflies.
She's eyeing my outfit too - it's Valentine's civvies day today so I guess she's wondering why I'm wearing the usual. I love my twin sister. Karla is my whole world and I, I guess she's just more than just a piece of me.
We have flapjacks and milkshakes for breakfast. Not coffee. Coffee breath is a no-no. Jumping into the school bus, I catch looks from the boys and so does Karla. She doesn't like that kind if attention, but I do. It means I'm rocking this outfit; and so is she.
I walk down the hallway and meet up with my mates. Jake is already waiting for me at my locker. He plants a kiss on my cheek and whispers "Happy Valentine's Day" in my ear. He hands me a small bouquet of roses with all my favourite colours. White, pink and red. He's so sweet. And cute, may I add, in his leather jacket and black jeans that compliment his black, jelled combover. "Hey Jake," I say, unable to control my smile. I sniff the roses as he says "Hey Kim," in his deep melodious voice. Dana and Brenda catch up to us and show me their Valentine's Day gifts.
"Dana got a crush or what?!" I yelped, surprised at the fact that the shy, 'no boys' Dana I knew could get a rose and chocolate combo from her...boyfriend?!
"Not really a crush if they're together," cooed Brenda, the 'love expert'. "I can't believe it," said Jake, before Michael, Dana's boyfriend, showed up. He was saying something but we couldn't hear because the bell was ringing. "Later," I called back over my shoulder as Jake, Michael and Dana went to Science. Brenda and I had English.

It's lunch break and all the cool people gather around me and Jake's table. "C'mon guys, if Brenda, Dana and Michael can't sit here, then no one can," I commanded. Weirdly, they listened and parted. We all sat there eating Sloppy Joe and Cheetos when I noticed. Karla was sitting alone. I clicked my fingers so she could see I was signalling for her to come over. Instead of smiling and coming over, she got up and left.
"What's her problem?" I asked confused. "I don't know love, maybe she went to her friends," Jake said, more like asking. "I guess," I whispered. I'm still baffled on why she'd just leave me hanging. A more pressing question, where are her friends?
