05: Multiple Informal Meetings

You missed around a week of not going to class after that event and now it was Monday once again and it wasn't something that made you so happy. You got ready and left for your afternoon class either way.
In creative writing, you didn't talk much but Mr. Jeon already knew why. Once it was time to leave, you walked down the halls and Jungkook noticed you as he was closing the classroom door.
"Miss, how are you?" He asked in his sweet voice. "You missed a few classes last week. Yeonjun told me you didn't come at all."
"Yeah," you chuckled. "It's just that I needed time for myself after that day."
He nodded, understanding the situation and saying, "Want to catch up with your work? I'm free now so if you'd like we could go to the cafe I took you to last time."
"Well if it's no bother. I'd like to know what I missed."
"Let's go. I'll take you home after," he said, once again.
Once you got in the car you chuckled thinking of something, "It's funny how many times I've been in this car and it's not even mine."
He smiled as he started to drive, "It's not like I'm even supposed to do this. But I'm just helping my students so I don't see the problem."
"Where would we ever find a teacher like you?"
"Probably a teacher who doesn't want to get in trouble," he chuckled nervously, knowing very well that what he was doing wasn't right. "But don't worry about it."
Once you both arrived at the cafe, you got out of the car and walked inside with him. You ordered something to eat and as it was being prepared you and Jungkook went over what you missed.
"I asked Yeonjun which classes you took and I talked to your teachers to inform them of what was happening. Yeonjun gathered what you missed and took it with him. He should have it," he said, taking out a couple of papers from his work suitcase. "This is from my class. I don't think it's too much and since you're smart you can finish it quickly."
"I still have to work on my project for your class though. When is it due again?"
"End of this month," he confirmed. "It will be the last grade. How is it going with the project?"
"To be honest, I haven't worked on it. This whole week I distanced myself from even Yeonjun and couldn't seem to get out of bed."
"I see," he said. "Start working on it when you feel ready again. You'll have time."
"Did I miss anything else for your class that week?"
"Well, only an exam," he said, making you widen your eyes. "You'll have to take it one of these days. Tell me when you can."
"I'll stay tomorrow to take it."
"I'll wait for you then," he smiled. Once the food came, you both started eating as you received a call. Jungkook noticed that it was your mom so he didn't really say anything.
"Yes mom?"
"Where the fuck are you!? The principal called me to tell me you haven't been going to school! Your grades are falling-"
You put your phone a bit away from your ear to not hear her yelling much but even Jungkook heard it. He saw how uncomfortable you were and took your phone, "Miss Kang?"
"What?! Who are you? What are you doing with my daughter? Is she seeing guys instead of studying?"
"Ah no ma'am," he chuckled. "I'm her professor, Mr. Jeon."
A sudden pause went on the other side of the call so Jungkook decided to keep talking, "I'm helping her catch up with what she missed last week. She'll be back on track as soon as possible. I heard that last week wasn't very easy on her so I hope you understand why she must be feeling down at the moment. She'll work hard to stay on track with school."
"Oh um, yes. Thank you, Mister- what was it again?"
"Jeon, Jeon Jungkook."
"Thank you Mister Jeon."
He hung up and handed you over your phone, "I'm sorry I took it. You just looked very uncomfortable and I didn't like that."
"She's always like that. I'm sorry if she disrespected you. My mom and I don't really get along."
"It's fine, don't worry," he smiled and continued eating. He then thought that the lady he saw welcoming the two young men at that one house was the same lady he had just talked to. He remembered that voice when he heard her greeting the two men. He also remembered both guys and how they looked. Both of them he had seen before. One was the athlete that was talking to you on campus, the other was the guy that assaulted you in the middle of the night. He looked at you but he stayed quiet.
He then looked at the time and remembered something. "God, I didn't notice the time. I should be heading out. I have some friends waiting for me."
"You should go. I'll pay for this and walk back home."
"You're crazy," he chuckled, asking the waitress to come over. He paid for the meal and then turned to you. "Even if I'm late to see my friends I'll take you home. What if something happens to you while you walk home alone huh? That's why it's better that you let me take you."
"Fine, I'll go," you sighed and walked with him to his car. "But I have to stop letting you take me home. I know how to take a cab. Or Yeonjun could take me. You have done so much already that it's not fair."
You both got in and he started driving as he said, "I think it would be better if we see each other less. It's not nice for you to be with your instructor all the time. People will assume things and it won't be good for either of us. I think you know this since you're very smart too."
"Yeah you're right. However, it's not like I go around to look for my professor just so we could hang out like besties. We've just managed to bump into each other a lot."
He chuckled, still facing the road, "You know, the more I see you out of school the more you talk to me informally."
You suddenly gulped knowing it was true and said, "I'm so sorry, Mr. Jeon. I'm really sorry. Damn what's wrong with me?"
"Don't worry about it," he said. "I like it."
You thought you heard wrong but it wasn't the case. His comment made you smile a bit.
"Look, we're here," he said, parking the car. You both got out and he walked with you to the front door.
"Thank you, Mister," you smiled. He liked seeing that smile of yours for a reason. It made him feel warm and safe with you even if he had no problems in his life to even feel that way. You both stood there in silence for a moment which felt so long but so short at the same time. He looked at you and you looked at him. Both eyes locked on each other's.
"You know, next time we see each other I won't be considering you a student anymore," he said, getting your attention and leaving you confused.
"What? Why is that?"
"I should, but it's hard," he chuckled. "I wish you could understand me."
