Billionaires
When I originally wrote the title I accidentally wrote Billionaire's. Which is ironic because it's possessive and every single billionaire book seems to qualify as possessive.
Well, look who finally decided to actually write her infamous rants with lots of random gifs. Yep, dis girl did.
{ Lil Mustafa is my heart and soul }
Billionaire books seem to really be trending and see no diversity and I blame Fifty Shade of Grey for starting this trend. And it's Fifty Shades of Fucked up
{ But it's dabulous, that's why }
One this I don't understand is how the heck do these people become billionaires in the first place? It's like magic overnight. Like they never actually tell you what the fuck this person did or why he deserves that fame.
{ Awkward, I think so }
Then there is the girl who has NO money or no other options
but she's too sensible to have spent it all or not gotten a good job or some other terrible excuse.
Also, she has some 'reason' she must work for this billionaire. Like her brother's dying and she needs the money. But how is working for a billionaire going to solve the problem of him dying. It's not like the billionaire has magical powers. (Honestly, if he did that would make everything more interesting)
But he's a complete creep or pedophile and is about as mentally stable as Christian Grey
{ No thank you. }
And then you have the sexy scenes and hot damn covers which is 99% what sells the book. I mean people dig creepy relationships which just makes me feel so much more comfortable in our society.
{ Legit me whenever I hear about things like this}
Sex is something that is rather abused in our culture but then again parents try to shelter us too much. People get exposed to a lot unitentially. As a fairly innocent teenager who has a dirty mind I can be very sensative to these types of things. I want to read about cute healthy relationships. But I absolutely hate sex scenes that are basically just weird and overly sexualized. I mean I don't hate sex I just find I prefer PG13 sex. You are fully entitled to your take. But x-rated sex just makes me uncomfortable. (Yet, I kinda want to read Fifty Shades. I may be a hypocrite.)
And lastly the undying unorginatlity of this selection. Most billionaire books I would lable under The New Adult genre and basically every new adult cover ever has some hot guy (with full upper body perfect for viewing pleasure of coursre) or some women wearing a thong and lacy bra.
With the cheesiet titles and the WORST MOST UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS POSSIBLE. SHOULD WE BE ENCOURAGING THIS IN OUR YOUTH. AND YES, plently of teenagers read that type of stuff.
I just think we should be encouraging more diversre litreature with healthy relationship.
But if your interested in reading more of mix feelinsg about sex in YA/NA and healthy/vs unhealthy relationships. I have a good long rant about A Court of Mist and Fury and why I liked it and why I'm not in the mainstream about this book. Honestly, I don't think I've ever felt this controvertial about a book before.
I don't see myself every really diving into this genre very much. I'm a YA/Adult Fantasy lover. But then again I'ma big Game of Thrones fan which 90% of Season 1-5 don't really promote healthy relationship but the books are a bit better.
I'll shut up now.
