Peter's Cow
Peter had a grumpy cow,
who's skin was dry and old
No matter how hard Peter tried,
she never did as told

to see a cow at church
The preacher tried to force her out,
but she did not move an inch
Then everyone stood up to look,
which made poor Peter flinch
Why won't the silly cow just leave?
the congregation cried
Well, I guess she is a special cow,

A/N: My submission for Poets Pub's annual "Biggest Competition Ever" Week 1 prompt (8 in total); Choose one of the four nursery rhymes below and rewrite the lyrics (Mary had a little lamb, The Queen of hearts, Pop goes the weasel, There was a crooked man).
I chose to rewrite Mary had a little lamb, and here is the original:
Mary had a little lamb,
who's fleece was white as snow
And everywhere that Mary went,
the lamb was sure to go
It followed her to school one day,
which was against the rules
It made the children laugh and play,
to see a lamb at school.
And so the teacher turned it out,
but still it lingered near,
And waited patiently about,
till Mary did appear.
Why does the lamb love Mary so?
the eager children cry
Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know
the teacher did reply
