The Witching Song
A/N
I actually hope none of my poems offend anyone because it's something I always worry about seeing as everyone has different opinions and I try not to offend anyone.

Can you hear the witching song
The sound of distant drumming
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of witches burning
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of distant screaming
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of bells a' ringing
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of false prophets preaching
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of mothers weeping
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of daughters pleading
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of babies drowning
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of families breaking
Can you hear the witching song
The King sends his men for seeking
Can you hear the witching song
The people are revolting
Can you hear the witching song
The sound of the people fighting
Can you hear the witching song
The cheer of freedom reigning
Can you hear the witching song
The reign of terror ending
Can you hear the witching song
Another dawn is crowning

Thats it.
About eight people throughout England Massachusetts Bay Colony were accused of practicing witchcraft, thirteen women and men were executed in a witch hunt that occurred throughout New England and lasted from 1645-1663. The Salem Witch trials followed 1692-1693.
Dorothy "Dorcas" Good was by far the youngest accused at age 4 ( she spent eight months in the prisons dungeons before being released) along with her mother Sarah Good (who was later executed)
As part of the infamous "swimming test" accused witches were dragged to the nearest body of water, stripped to their undergarments, bound and then tossed in to see if they would sink or float.
If they sank they were innocent.
These are a few facts about the Salem Witch Trials of witch I loosely based my poem on. It was a sad time pior innocents killed for something they had no hand in. A time of great suspicion and constant terror as no one was spared.
The mood of this poem is rather dark and somber but it is what it is.
Maybe next time will be..more cheerful.
