'Rebuttal' Part 1

So recently@Rey-From-Jakku posted a chapter on her book called "Atheism: The Ultimate Guide" subtitle being: Horrible Bible Verses. So I was like Hey! Why not make a rebuttal to them? Basically I'll put in the Bible verse that she did and say a few things about it and then maybe another Bible verse to counter to. I personally like New Living Translation (NLT) so that's the one I'll be using. Also because I am somewhat neat Imma number them.

1. Psalm 137: 8-9 "O Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy is the one who pays you back for what you have done to us.  Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks!"

The way that Rey put it wasn't correct. She said, "Basically, this verse is God congratulating anyone who kills the innocent babies of..." No, He isn't, to put it plainly. Theologians Believe that the prophet Jeremiah also known as the 'weeping prophet' wrote this Psalm. And if anyone wants to go ahead and read the chapter for yourself, you'll find that Israel in that moment is mourning over Jerusalem because the Babylonians just destroyed their city. The proud capital of their country. Wouldn't you be that upset as well if someone took over your home and everything with it? Yeah I think so. Even if you haven't said it out loud, I'm sure you have thoughts of death on another person. Sadly I have done it too. Human nature I tell you! The verses do have truth to them. Another nation will come to take over and beat them to the ground, stealing their possessions and killing families and more than likely they will not be remorseful about it.

2. Job 1: 8-12 "Then the Lord asked Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil."  Satan replied to the Lord, "Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God.10 You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is!  But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!" "All right, you may test him," the Lord said to Satan. "Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don't harm him physically." So Satan left the Lord's presence.

Rey talked about how awful it was to let Job suffer in such a way but God didn't have to fear that Job would fall away because He already knew the end result. Satan however did not. She goes on a bit later to say that God if He knew wouldn't have had to do all of that and that many be true but God blessed him for his trials and gave him twice the amount of riches that he had before and just as many children. So ultimately just as happy if not happier than he was before.

Here is a verse straight from Job itself. Job 36: 21 "Be on guard! Turn back from evil, for God sent this suffering to keep you from a life of evil. " Suffering at times does help you in the long run. With knowledge that you gain from it mostly. You know how the Founding Fathers crated this nation not only for them but all the future generations living in it? It's kind of like that for Job. He took a lot of pain as an example, a precedent. Just like other history, it gives an example for other nations or in this case people. Or those things that your parents might tell you for the future, like not to do certain things because of the consequences that it brought them or close relatives. Persevere like Job did and never curse the Lord name. If not rewarded here than forever in heaven. Job showed that you really can get through it all.

3. Hosea 13: 16 "The people of Samaria must bear the consequences of their guilt because they rebelled against their God. They will be killed by an invading army, their little ones dashed to death against the ground, their pregnant women ripped open by swords. "

There is a little history behind this one. So the Tribe of Ephraim which is a tribe of Israel resides in Samaria and as of late they disobeyed the first commandment. You shall not worship any other god before me. This wasn't the only thing they didn't follow. I am almost positive that this was written around the time frame in Deuteronomy 7. God gave out commandments to His children and told them to not have anything to do with the other nations besides to conquer them and throw them out of the land. No peace treaties, no marriages, nada, nothing. And guess what? They did it. They made peace treaties and they got married to the people with false idols. God in this chapter was telling them that they were going to be conquered and taken into captivity to be taught a lesson because of their disobedience to the One that gave them their freedom. And in a way this does apply to real life. If you make connections to people with bad habits and lifestyles they will change you. That's why some people say to stay away form them completely. Separate yourself. Yet another precedent from the Bible.

Note: This is just part one! There are 5 more verses and let me tell you that I researched and read quite a bit for this. Took me two hours to write all of this XD. Feel free to ask questions about all three passages. For those who want to ask other non related questions please do on my requests page! I will slowly but surely get to all of them. I have them written down and in mind always so don't worry. Make friendly discussion and asks things you are truly curious about. I will get to each person and tr to explain things to best of my abilities. Have an amazing night or day wherever you are!
