~ Prove Yourself

Payton P.O.V.

Brianna sure does know how to whimper down on her knees and beg.

Honestly, I don't think she can sink any lower at this point but the up part about it is maybe I won't have to call Tristen after all. Maybe that's a bad thing, even though I spend the last hours with him I still miss his presence that was all was near. Just knowing the fact that he was near made me feel warm and protected.

Listen to me, I sound like a love stricken puppy. I mentally smiled at myself, I'll be his love sturcked puppy any day.

Right now we are all at Brianna’s house sitting up in her room and boy can you say girly girl?

She had light purple carpet that felt good under your toes, soft pink walls, colorful bean bags off in a corner, white bed set, walk in closet and to top it off, her name was spelled out in huge blue letters right above the head board of her bed. You could never mistake this room as a boy’s room and if you did then something was seriously wrong with you.

But I got to give it to the girl. Not only does she have taste but she also got guts inviting all three of us here.

" That girl got some nerve," Erin said looking at the pictures hang up on the far side of Brianna room. I got up off her bed as well to see the picture and surprisingly it's only of her and people in the pack. No boyfriends at all, not that she had many. At time I just like calling her a slut because she always somehow brings out the worst in me.

Trisha just sat on one of the bean bags and flipped through the channel. " I still don't like her but I got to admit, her mom can cook." It was true, her mom can cook and she happens to be extremely nice. Brianna’s mom is short with sun kissed blonde hair and brown freckles scattered all over her face. Her freckles didn't make her unattractive but it made her look good. Just an hour ago she made us about three dozen cookies and they taste delouse.

Too bad all four of us finish all three dozen of them under forty five minutes.

There is still something off about Brianna and I'm not changing my mind anytime soon about her. She's known to be sneaky but inviting three girls that hate her to her house was probably the worse plan ever.

It's three against one. We could pull pranks on her in her sleep, we could go through he stuff until we find something dirty, we can ruin her reputation. It just doesn't make sense that she trust us to step foot in her house when she knows what we're capable of.

I'm not saying that I'm going to do anything to her even though I really want to but I promised my dad I wouldn't do something to cause anymore drama between us. I didn't have to promise him anything but I did anyways because at the end of the day I had to be the bigger person and starting a fully blown out war wasn't going to help either one of us.

"Ok, I got games, snacks, makeup, nail polish, paint, accessories and dresses in the closet. What should we do first?" Brianna said coming back into her room with a hand full of food, a basket of nail polish, paint bottles, magazines and more.

No one said anything which Brianna didn't expect at all. Biting her lips she sighed heavily before going to sit on her bed and bumping everything in her arms on the floor. “This was a horrible idea," she said under her breathe so that no one could hear but I did.

Me being the Betas daughter made me have extremely sensitive hearing and a great sense of smell but not as strong as the Alpha family.

“What do you mean by that?" I asked. Maybe she will finally reveal the plan she had all along. But sadly she didn't.

She looked at all three of the girls in the room before gesturing to the snacks, make up and the rest of the things that landed on the floor. "This whole idea of a having a sleepover. I know you guys don't like me, you don't have to say it I could see it but can we at least do something fun together?" She asked. “I’m trying to make new friends because the friends that I have.....well use to have aren't the type of people that I want to be judged by and I just thought maybe you guys would be good friends to have."

Wow! That was deep. Even for Brianna. She looked like she was on the brink of tears as she tried wiping her eyes with the back of her palm. I honestly felt sorry for her. You could clearly tell she was telling the truth because Brianna Roger doesn't cry over anyone or anything. Just to have her on the brink of tear made me feel bad knowing that I'm one of the reason why none of us are having fun.

For the past four hours all we did was treat her like crap in her own house while she was trying to make an effort at finding something fun for all of us to do. All I said was ' I don't feel like it' or ' maybe something else' and I wasn't just saying it to say it. It's because I honestly never saw myself in this position of having a sleepover at Brianna’s' house.

Not even in my wildest dreams.

I wanted to say something but couldn't find the right words. I mean what was I suppose to do say ' Poor baby' and pat her on her head like a dog? No, so I just stood there looking at her as tears started rising to the surface of her eyes and spilling over board.

Trisha came over to the bed and sat near her, "I'm not your friend but hey, what can I lose?" She asked giving Brianna a small smile. Trisha was a softy inside; sometimes I could swear her heart is made of pure gold. She hates seeing people crying and I hate seeing people cry too.

As for Erin, she was a tuff cookie to crack. She maybe quiet and intimidating at times but somewhere in her heart was a soft spot but I wasn't showing just yet at least. She just looked at Brianna with her arms over her chest a blank expression.

Brianna’s' eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head. She smiled brightly before turning to me and Erin. Her gaze lingers on Erin for a moment but when she saw she wasn't going to give in anytime soon she turned to me.

"Be the bigger person," My dads' word lingered in my head. Remembering his words I shrugged before saying, " we'll give it a try I guess." It took me a lot to say those seven words. This is the girl that I hated for years, the girl that I fought with daily, the girl that said mean and curly things to me.

Even though I still don't believe in giving people a second chance I think I just might give her one. Like my grandma says, only people with a change of heart and that suffered enough deserves second chances.

"Thanks you, Thank you, Thank you!" she said happily getting off the bed and hugging both me and Trisha at the same time. Brianna looked over at Erin again but Erin was still in the same position she was in just a couple of seconds ago with her green shirt hugging her body and black hair over her shoulders. Arms crossed over her chest and blank expression.

Hesitantly, Brianna slowly walked over to Erin on full alert mood before wrapping her arms over and around Erin’s should and hugging her.

The hug that Brianna gave Erin seemed to break her down a little to at least crack a smile and hug her back. When they pulled away we were all smiling but Brianna smile was the biggest and widest out of the four of us.

“Now where do we start?" Brianna said excitedly before clapping her hands and diving into the pile on the floor.

I'm won't lie. I had fun painting my nails and eating whatever I wanted. Hopefully no one will say anything to Tristen at the amount of junk food I was eating. I did Erin’s' nails, Erin did Brianna’s' nails and Brianna did both Trisha and my nails.

We laughed and watched T.V. as we flipped through magazine.

After Brianna’s' break down we were all good with each other, but will his only last tonight? Or will she really become one of us? I don't know only time will tell. She'll have so somehow convince me that she's worthy of my friendship and then maybe we'll become friends.

"Are you sure your parents won't be mad?" I asked Brianna dipping my right hand into the blue paint and then dipping my left hand in a bright vibrant yellow.

Brianna smiled as she stuck one hand in a pink and then the other one in a lime green. "They won't care. My mom has been wanting me to do something more to this wall and adding all these colors to it will be prefect!" She had walking up to where her bed use to be before me moved it to the side so that paint wouldn't leak or dip on her sheets.

“I think it's a pretty good idea!" Erin said swirling her hand in a bucket or red and black paint leaving Trisha with the last two colors, orange and white.

Trisha started giggling as she started squeezing her hands is fist and watching the paint seep through her fingers. “It feels so funny and cold!" She laughed. I tried it myself and she was right the paint felt like goo and it was really cold. The feeling made me laugh myself.

“Shall you take the honors?" Erin asked Brianna holding her hands out towards the wall and slightly bowing.

Brianna smiled brightly before say." I shall," walking up to the wall she got on her tippy toes and slapped both palms to the wall before holding it their momentarily and then taking her hands off the wall leaving a yellow and pink hand print on the wall.

Without questioning thinking we all just started slapping our palms against the wall leaving all type of colorful color behind. We worked our way around Brianna name on the wall and once we got the whole wall done we had a paint fight rubbing our hands all over each other’s faces.

"We better go shower," I said looking down at my once grey sweatpants that we probably now stuck looking like a rainbow throw up on it. Brianna pushed the last bucket of paint onto the shelve and closed her dads' tool shed.

Turning she glanced over a something before getting this huge smirk on her face. "Or, we can go swimming?" She said pointing over to the pool behind me. Her pool was really big and in a circular shape. It was an underground pool with brown tiles surrounding it and also brown tiles as the pools ground.

"I would have brought my swim suit if I knew we were going to go swimming" Erin pouted.

"It's ok, I got five swim suits. You guys can all borrow one." Trisha and Erin excitedly followed Brianna to the back door but I keep my distance walking back inside the house.

I didn't like swimming. I always hated it because someone always looked at me and all they saw was a fat girl. That's when I started to wear sweet shirts and sweatpants all the time. I hated when people saw anything else on me other then my face and hands. For a long time I convinced myself that the face and hands should be the only thing exposed on my body.

Is it bad that I still believe it otherwise?

"Don't you think it'll be dangerous swimming when the sun's down?" I asked walking into the room see Brianna and both Trisha and Erin looking through her closet for and draw until they found what they were looking for.

"Nope, not at all. I could swim so if your worried about drowning you won't because I'll be there." More like you'll try to drown me yourself.

Sorry but I can't help but to still think that way towards her. She's still Brianna the bully in my mind. I just need time for my brain to adjust that she has changed.

Brianna gave me a small smile before motioning for me to come over to where she and Trisha were. When we were done hand painting the wall we pushed Brianna bed back where it was.

Like she said, she had five bathing suits laid out on her bed. One was all black with light pink strips. Another one was all orange with two medium side diamonds on each strap. The third one was a dark blue with ruffles all over. The next one was a deep green color with white polka dots all over and the last one was yellow with random white and black swirls all over.

They were cute but one big problem. They were all two pieces. “I call this one!" Erin said grabbing the yellow one with swirls all over.

“I want this one. It's my favorite," Brianna said taking the black one with pink strips.

“I guess I'll take this one, it's cute!" Trisha said taking the blue one with ruffles all over it. The last to pick was me. I had the choice to either choose the deep green one with white polka dots all over or the orange one with the two diamonds on either side of the straps.

Hesitantly, I picked up deep green one with Polka dots and held it to my chest. My hands were kind of shacking as I bit my lips. “I don't really want to swim" I said coming up with an excuse.

"Come on Payton, it'll be fun" Brianna said going into her closet and shutting the closet door behind her to change into the swim suit.

Trisha gave me an encouraging smile before saying "Just this once." Knowing Trisha, she would try to get me out there and free but I don't think I was ready to the point that I want to wear a bathing suit in front of someone even her. Erin gave me the puppy doggy face and I could hear Brianna’s' pleads from the closet.

"F-Fine" I said and Brianna and Erin cheered.

“I’ll change in the bathroom!" Erin said leaving the room and going down the hall to change.

“I call next!" Trisha said.

I sat on the bed waiting for Erin to get back from the bathroom. Brianna walked out of her closet, looking good in her small and skinny frame and Erin also looked good too. Trisha changed in the closet and came out looking like a run way model and last but not least it was my turn.

"You guys don't have to wait for me. I'll just change and met you guys out there" I told them.

Erin and Brianna didn't catch onto it but Trisha did. "Are you sure? I'll stay here with you if you want me too" Trisha said but I just shook my head.

"I won't take long" I said before walking into the closet leaving Trisha no room to argue. I closed the closet door behind me and after a couple of seconds I could hear the girls grabbing their towels and heading out the room.

Slowly, I took off my sweatshirt and under shirt and through them onto the closet floor. With unsteady hands I put the bathing suit top on and then took of my sweatpants to put the bottoms on.

Walking out of the closet I went straight to my towel and out the room. I refused to look at myself in the mirror. I knew if I saw myself, I would do a complete 180 and change right back into those sweatpants and sweet shirt.

I walked down to the back door and saw Erin, Trisha and Brianna already in the pool, laughing loudly. With the last once of courage I opened and closed the slide door behind me and quickly walked to the pool. Before they could noticed that I came out the house, I jumped into the deep end making a big slash.

"Talk about a grand entrance," Erin laughed out and by the time, I swam over to them. I completely forgot about why I didn't want to go swimming in the first place.

I got to admit that jumping into the water wasn't a very smart idea because now I was freezing cold. Oh, well I'll get use to the temperature.

Slowly my body adjusted to the water as I predicted. We all gather up in the deep end after a few minutes of just going our own way and relaxing.

"This is the best first sleepover ever!" Brianna squealed.

“First? You mean you never had a sleepover before!" Trisha asked shocked. I think everyone was shocked but Brianna.

"I never had a sleepover before because my parents never liked my old friends and never trusted them to be in the house too." Brianna said shrugging it off. "But I always got the concept of them. Girls get together, talk about boys and have fun!"

Yeah, I guess you can say that. “Talking about boys, who do you guys like?" Brianna asked.

All you could hear was the wind blowing in the spring air. She just starred at us waiting for someone to say something but no one ever did. "No offence but I don't feel comfortable with telling you that type of information."

"Oh," Brianna said slowly. "I get it."

She looked kind of hurt but maybe this was her chance to prove herself. If she told us who she liked maybe we'll feel a little bit more comfortable about her. “I’ll tell you who I like," I said “If you tell me who you like first.”

She thought about it for a second before her smile slowly faded. “There’s this one guy....but I'm suppose to like him. He's kind of my....mate."

Mate? Wow! Brianna was just full of a lot of surprises tonight. I waited for her to add more but she looked like she was kind of scared for a second. “It’s your brother, Lewis."

No one said anything for a while. Brianna was my brother’s mate. That's probably why she wanted to be my friend so badly but I could help but to be a little happy for both her and Lewis. She changed meaning that she wasn't like her old self anymore and Lewis deserved someone.

No one can hate the feeling of having a mate. I know I can't.

"Congratulations!" I said surprising her. She looked at me before thanking me with a small blush on her face. Everyone was so caught up in the moment that I didn't tell Brianna who I liked yet. After another hour in the pool we slowly started getting out since it was around one in the morning.

I got out the water and started drying myself off when I hear everyone gasp. I quickly turned around to see what they were gasping about to see them starring at me. I quickly wrapped myself with my towel and grew pale.

"What?" I asked.

"Damn Payton, your body is bad!" Erin exclaimed.

"A body like that can’t be hidden behind all those close you wear. You look like a goddess!" Brianna added looking me up and down while snapping her fingers. "We need to go shopping for you. Next week id spring break, we should all go and make Payton look hot."

"I'm in!" Trisha yelled. I blushed. They really think I look that good?

We all went inside to shower one by one and I went last. I felt refreshed walking back into the room. To see all three of them laying around starring at the TV. screen.

"Payton, you phone was vibrating a couple of minutes ago." Trisha said she had brushed through her wet tangled hair. Going over to my bag I pulled out my phone and saw that I had a text message and the name that popped up on the screen made my heart beat faster.

Tristen

I opened the text and I think that was enough to make my heart stop.

I was hoping that you would call so I could pick you up but I guess you’re kind of busy right now. I really wish you were here with me, I miss you already.
