Chapter Seven
Now That We're Men

Tristen POV

The basics have been set up. As of right now our pack along with Alpha Paxton pack were on high alter, setting up as much training and boarder patrol to the west as possible.

Our pack was not only the biggest in the country, but it also took up most of the east coast stretching from Pennsylvania to Florida. Meanwhile Paxton's Pack occupied the Northeastern boarder of the East Coast starting from New York and stretching up into Canada.

The Leniks pack occupied the States of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.

Being that there were very few neutral grounds throughout the country, we'd have to worry about the neutral grounds of West Virginia. Strategically it would be the only was Lenick could attack without bringing in outside enforcements.

On the western boarders in those specific states surrounding West Virginia there was three lines of defense set up. This would make it hard for Leniks to attach easily and would buy us enough time to send backup from both Packs. They'd be trapped and attach from north, south and east which would force them to retreat back from where them came from, the west.

Patrols we divided into 6 hour shifts, so that those wolves still had the chance to participate in training and the shifts weren't long enough to tired the patrols out.

We've also set up training schedules. Every male and female between the age of 16 and up we're going to be participating in training everyday until the end of summer.

Training ran in three sets of groups to make sure that everyone had the chance to train without time inconvenience. Training was set up in four hour shifts for the summer. Starting at 6am to 10am, 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 8pm.

Once summer was over for teens still in school such as Payton and Jackie, training would be a mandatory gym class, set for an hour and a half, four days a week.

For everyone not attending school, training hours would change. It would be mandatory to attend five training sessions a week. With training being available everyday of the week. Monday – Friday, 7am to 10am, 11am to 2pm, 3pm to 6pm and 7pm to 10pm. Saturday and Sunday, training was only available from 7am to 10am or 3pm to 6pm.

Only a few people were exempted from training, which were the elderly, anyone whom is too weak to fight, the disabled, pregnant women, or women whom given birth within the last year.

The schedule seemed complicated and complex, but both Alphas and Mr. Adas wanted to make training as flexible as possible for two reasons.

The first being so that, just in case of a sneak attach not everyone in either packs are at the same places during the same time. And to work with peoples personals lives, school and work schedules.

The second reason would be so that the two packs were able to train with each other instead of always training separately. Since we're going to be fighting for each other, we need to learn to to train side by side.

"You guys are getting older, and we've decided that we want you guys to start leading training sessions" Alpha Stanton spoke up.

He wasn't speaking to his current top patrol wolves or warriors. He was speaking directly to us.

Us being Marco, Lewis, Noah, Jackie his own son Jason and myself.

I️ expected him to be speaking to his son Jason, or even Noah and Jackie because they were all born with Alpha blood. Maybe even Lewis too, considering that he was born with Betas blood. But Marco and I️? More importantly myself as a leader? ... I️ wasn't expecting that.

"Fix your face Tristen" Mr. Adas snapped at me before turning his attention back to our groups.

"We've decided that you guys are going to start shadowing some of our strongest and most strategic warriors" he said motioning to the men down on the other end of the conference table.

"When training, we need to train everyone on stamina, speed, agility, focus, multitasking and sharping their quick decision making skills" Alpha Paxton now spoke up.

"Since this war is so close and personal to the six of you, we felt like this is your opportunities to grow and learn how to become strong confident leaders. It all starts with training" Alpha Staton said.

Everyone nodded in agreement, mumbling their opinions on the matter at hand. I️ just couldn't get my mind off of leading anyone.

After a couple of minutes of everyone separately discussing the new training methods and suggestions Mr. Adas as able to quickly regather the group.

"We need to stay on alter from here on out. Even though the Lenkins pack gave us a dead line in the near future we need to be ready for anything at anytime".

"How soon does training start?" Noah asked, which was something we were all curious about and seriously dreading.

Most likely we'll start next week...

"Saturday morning".

There goes the rest of our summer.

"So we'll meet again, Friday at noon. You boys need to start training a little bit earlier. After all, to lead a pack you need to be ahead of the pack". With that said and done Alpha Paxton dismissed us.

One by one we all left the room with myself being the last person. But before I could catch up with the rest of the guys Mr. Adas motioned for me to walk with him down the hall and into what's known as the packs house ball room.

"What with all those faces you were making in there?" He asked sternly.

I️ shrugged my shoulders not really knowing what he was talking about. I️ didn't mean to make faces, they just sort of happened. "I️ was surprised I️ guess".

He shock his head laughing a little bit before turning back to me.

"Why do you always doubt yourself boy. It's like every time when someone gives you credit, thinks you can accomplish something great or cuts you slack your so quick to feel like you don't deserve it".

I️ shrugged my shoulders again, stuffing my hand him my jean pockets not really know how to respond to him.

I️ guess I've never seen myself ever getting to the point in my life where two Alphas and a Beta would look at me as any type of leader. I️ never saw the day where they'd even considered me to be anything important to the pack. Training to become potentially one of the strongest warriors, that was a huge step and a big opportunity that didn't pass by everyday in an averages wolf life.

"I was surprised Mr. Adas" I admitted. "I️ didn't mean to make it seem as if I️ didn't want the chance to potentially become a high ranked warrior".

He nodded looking off over my shoulder at nothing in particular as if reminiscing on a thought.

"Do you remember the day when I️ asked you to train Payton, help her get into shape?"

I️ nodded.

"I️ knew you were the type of person that would be determined to complete a task once it was given to you because you were hard headed and gave off a cold-hearted attitude. I️ know Payton too, she's the type of person to always trying to find the easy way out of excersize, so just having anyone train her wouldn't have worked. I️ needed someone that could connect with her age wise, someone that was as hard headed as she was and wouldn't give up on her. I️ needed someone cold hearted to be able to block out all the excuses that she'd make up and ignore all the tears she may have sheded in the process. I️ needed someone that could not only do the job, but also get the job done and that's why I️ choose you".

"I️ remember, and completely gratefully for that. If it weren't for you I️ wouldn't have met Payton, I'd probably be in the mess I'm trying to avoid now" I️ said quite honestly.

"I️ see potential in you, now you need to start feeling the potential within yourself".

I️ nodded, considering every that he said. "I'm just really hard on myself I️ guess".

"Too hard on your self" he said correcting me.

I️ cracked a smile, this is a big step.

Joshua Adas getting all sensitive on me and showing me that he believes in my capability to do well and become a leader.

"Okay, I'm going to do this and do it well. I️ won't let you down Joshua" I️ said a little bit more confident this time around.

He sighed deeply at the sound of me calling him by his first name.

"I'll see you tomorrow Tristen" he said turning his back on me walking towards the back door to join the two Alphas.

"Actually I'll see you tonight, I'm going to swing by to see Payton before I️ head home" I yelled out to him.

"Yeah of course you are" he mumbled before disappearing somewgere outside in the backyard.

I️ strolled over to the front of the house and found Marco, Lewis, Noah, Jackie and Jason all waiting out front talking among their selves.

"Before this weekend of hell begins what do you guys say to going out this Friday?" Noah asked looking at everyone for approval.

"I'm down, we'll need it" Marco said retrieving his keys for his back pocket and heading over to his car at the end of the driveways. "Text me the details, I️ got to go pick up Omar from my parents house".

"Same, gotta go see my girl" Jason said departing from us, leaving just Noah, Jackie, Lewis and myself.

"We should probably start heading home too" Noah said referring to himself and Jackie, and he nodded his head in agreement.

"Lewis, Tristen, who was the blonde headed girl with the green eyes in the sundress" Jackie asked turning back around to face us.

"Trisha?" Both Lewis and I️ said in unison.

"Yeah, I️ think that's her name" he said trying to think hard about it before confirming it.

"One of Payton's friends, why?" Lewis asked sounding a little bit protective.

Even though Trisha was not his sister, I️ see why'd he'd still treat her like a sister. Payton and Trisha have been friends since the first or second grade, meaning that Lewis also grew up watching over not only Payton but her best friend too.

Jackie thought about it for a second before shrugging his shoulders and shaking his head, as if disregarding even bring her up.

"Nothing, she's just cute that's all" he said before turning around and following his brother to the their car at the other end of the driveway.

Let the training begin.

--------------------------------------------

Just finished this semester of classes, so I'm having more free time to write my heart out.

l hope ya'll liked it. I was originally going to make this chapter on the girls view of things with Trisha talking to the girls about Jackie, but I though this would be better considering that I want to focus a little bit more on the battles to happen in the future.

Don't worry, we'll get back to Trisha and Jackie, very soon. And I can't forget about Lewis and Brianna *wink wink*
