Meet Cancer
We arrived and I was speechless! The beach was absolutely stunning. White sand, palm trees, and tropical air that I swear teleported me to every beautiful photograph I've ever seen of an island paradise. Despite all that I noticed a man lounging under the largest palm tree I saw on the beach. He had another beach lounge chair next to him, and a table that had three fancy tropical looking drinks. He was so well defined and absolutely attractive!
Beautifully deep tan skin, and silver hair that couldn't be real. It was parted to one side and had a shaved under cut. The nice definition on his body, which wasn't hard to miss because he was in only swim trunks. I couldn't see his eyes though, because of his sunglasses. "Hey Delmar," called Ophiuchus as we walked up to him. He sat up removing his glasses to reveal the clearest pale blue eyes I've ever seen! Like beautiful sea glass!
"Yeah what the hell do you want," he snapped and I jolted. His voice was deep and sharp. Not what I would picture him sounding like. Delmar just radiated annoyance and anger that I took a step back getting nervous. "Now you stop that. You agreed to this or I wouldn't be doing this otherwise. You promised to be on your best behavior," sighed Ophiuchus and Delmar rolled his eyes. "Just don't bother me," he grumbled as he laid back in his chair, pulling down his sunglasses.
Ophiuchus pulled me aside to where he couldn't hear us. "I'm very sorry about him Olivia. He's not always so, pardon the expression, crabby. He just has the habit of taking everything a little too personally. If he scares you just say it's over and I'll meet you at your apartment," he said worried. I glanced back at Delmar and then at Ophiuchus with a trying smile. "It's ok maybe I can get him to like me. I've had a little luck with cancers back home. My mom is one," I explained. "Alright... if you're sure. I wish you good luck," he said hopefully before vanishing. I looked back at Delmar and gulped. "I wouldn't say I'm good with aggression, but I have to give him a shot. Just like everyone else I won't judge a book by it's cover," I thought motivating myself.
I walked slowly up to him and sat on the beach chair next to to him. Trying to make as little noise as possible. I stared out at the water to see dolphins in the distance and I smiled. "Ophiuchus was right. Even I don't like him or he doesn't like me.. at least it's lovey here," I thought to myself trying to stay positive. I looked back over and he was still laying back with his sunglasses on.
"You still here," he asked harshly and I jumped. "Yes I am," I said nervously. "Damn why can't people just leave me alone. If you're gunna ignore me leave!" He snapped and I jolted. "I'm not ignoring you I thought you were ignoring me!" I said quickly and he sat up pushing his glasses on to the top of his head. "Then why didn't you saying anything to make sure," he asked frustrated. "I didn't want to upset you. You seem to be having a bad day and I guess I didn't want to make you angrier," I said nervously trying not to sound panicked and he stopped and stared at me. "Damn that's not what I meant I just-," he trailed off. He paused and sighed deeply. He looked away putting a hand on the back of his neck before turning his whole body to face me.
"Listen I don't mind, I would be upset too if I was forced to go on a date while I was relaxing," I said gently and he half smiled. He took a deep breath, before looking back at me. His eyes seem to almost relax. "No, I'm sorry. I really don't mean to take it out on you or come off as an ass. I'm just stressed out right now. You caught me at a bad time... but I guess that's not your fault either." he explained running his finger through his hair. "I see. Well that's ok then. To be honest I can get that way too," I said softly glancing over at the sea. "Ha, usually I chase people away with my attitude within five seconds. I applaud you on being stubborn as hell," he smirked and I felt my face turn bright red. "Here have a drink," he replied as he lifted a bright blue tropical decorated drink with a long straw. It had a slice of pineapple on the rim and a few cherries floating in it. "Oh I'm not much of a drinker," I said embarrassed. "Hm? Don't worry I can make is non-alcoholic," he smiled snapping his fingers and the blue liquid paled a little. "Well thank you," I smiled as I took it.
I swirled it with the straw before I took a drink and my eyes light up. It was very fruity and refreshing without being overly sweet and each flavors complimented the other perfectly. I was amazed. "Pretty good hu? I made it myself," he said proudly and I chuckled. "It's delicious," I smiled. I saw him simply smile in return and we turned out attention back to the sea.
We just stared at the ocean for a little while, just enjoying each other's company. It was really nice. The energy was comfortable and I felt my body relax with the rolling of each wave. As I glanced at him, he was slowly closing his eyes. I set the now empty cup down.
"If you don't mind me asking, what stressed you out so much," I asked gently he looked at me taken back. "I'm sorry you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," I said quickly waving my hands around in a panic. "No it's not that. I like this. From that sentence alone you seem really caring. I like that," he almost smiled sweetly and I felt my heart skip a beat. "Second of all; it's damn Capricorn's fault. That asshole likes to restrict my emotions like a fucking puppet. Making me look like I'm the one that's misunderstood," he yelled pissed and I jumped.
"C..C...Capricorn?" I asked nervously. "Yeah have you met them yet," he snapped leaning close to me. "N..n..no," I said nervously still startled at the sudden yelling, and he leaned back in his chair. "Good," he sighed. "Well I'm hear you listen if you need it," I said nervously. He looked back at me and smiled. "Good to know. I wouldn't mind spending more time with you," he said before looking away like he was embarrassed. "Same here. How about we just enjoy the sea and if you wanna talk we can," I suggested. "Fine by me come on let's walk along the shore," he replied standing up as he offered his hand and I blushed before taking it. We walked in comfortable silence, while only speaking a few times here and there. It wasn't awkward or nerve racking. It felt like talking to an old friend. Before long we watched the sunset together. "Listen, um... Don't be afraid to come back and visit. I'll make sure I'm in a good mood when I see you," he whispered looking at sun. "I'd love to come back," I whisper back, but when I blinked I was back at the apartment.
"Are you alright my lady did he hurt you," asked Ophiuchus worried standing up from the couch. "No we had a good time," I smiled and he looked shocked. "Really!? You managed to crack that crab's shell," said Ophiuchus surprised. "Yeah he's actually really sweet. Though his random anger spirts were hard to get use to," I chuckled. "Well I'll be damned. That's amazing here I was worried about you," he smiled warmly putting a hand on my shoulder. "Yeah I feel great! Let's move on to the next one," I smiled. "I'm glad they put you in such a good mood," he smiled walking out the door. "Who's next," I asked catching up. "Ah well you're in for a show. Up next is Leo," he chuckled. "Leo?," I repeated. "They can be a lot, but I promise you their heart is in the right place," he smiled offering his hand and I took it.
