"I'm sorry you had to leave school because of me."
Yoongi abruptly got up from his reading desk. He combed his fingers through his hair, eyes shut as he breathed hard.
"Why didn't you come to me, Jungkook? It wouldn't have gotten to this if you had let me take you out of there! They wouldn't have gotten to you!" He said, flailing his arms in the air.
Jungkook sobbed. "I'm sorry." He covered his face in his hands and cried.
Yoongi looked over at him. His anger morphing into hurt, pain. His heart clenched and he wanted to cry.
Jungkook wasn't supposed to go through this. He was too good. Maybe he was stubborn but his good sides outshines his stubbornness. But then, maybe that stubbornness was what made Yoongi love him.
He walked over to his bed and sat on the edge, facing Jungkook. Taking Jungkook's hand in his, he spoke. "It's not your fault, Jungkook. I'm sorry that I snapped. I was just angry." His finger brushed the back of Jungkook's hand. He squeezed on it. "I should have been there with you. It was predictable that those idiots would want to cause more damage. I was just so stupid. I was foolish to have not been with you. It's all my fault." He scolded himself bitterly, shaking his head.
"No, Yoongi." Jungkook shook his head, sniffing. "It's not your fault. I was... I thought I could handle it. I thought all I had to do was pretend it didn't get to me. That once I pretended, it wouldn't hurt. But I was wrong. I was so wrong."
Yoongi listened to Jungkook. It was all his fault, he thought.
"I still shouldn't have left you."
Jungkook brought his head up and looked at Yoongi with pained, bloodshot red eyes. His face stained with tears. "I'm sorry I tried to push you away." He brought his free hand to wipe his face. Yoongi held the other more firmly. "I have the tendency to do that a lot. And I shouldn't. You're a great friend. I would have probably passed out if you hadn't taken me away. I'm just.. I..."
"It's okay. I would do it again if I have to. You mean a lot to me, Jungkook," Yoongi admitted truthfully.
Jungkook looked down apologetically. "I'm really sorry."
Yoongi cupped his face. "Don't worry about it. I just want you to be fine, Jungkook."
Jungkook nodded. He felt 10x more relieved away from the school. He felt like he was untouchable under Yoongi's touch.
"Why did Principal Li call you? Is everything okay?" He brought down his hand from Jungkook's face, letting it fall to the bed.
Jungkook nodded. "He was checking up on me."
Yoongi nodded too. "He warned the students not to make any more posts or comments about that." He said. "What else did he say?"
"Nothing." Jungkook shook his head. He wiped a snort that had rolled down his nose. "Why?"
"I'm just asking. But are you okay? Like, sincerely."
"No," Jungkook said, eyeing Yoongi. Taking in the worried look on his face. "I'm not. It feels like I'm on a Ferris wheel that's stuck in the worst place. It feels like the terrors are never ending. They're getting worse. And I'm getting very tired of everything, Yoongi."
A shaky breath left Yoongi's mouth. His eyes were filled with hurt and love. Jungkook was just noticing this.
Yoongi squeezed his hand and smiled soothingly at him. "You don't have to face it alone, Jungkook. I'm here. I've always been here. I'm not going anywhere. Whenever you need me, I'm here. I want you to really understand that."
"I do. I understand." He nodded. "I'll remember that."
"Promise?" Yoongi asked. "You promise that if you feel bad and alone, and you need someone you'll call me. You'll text me. You'll contact me."
A heavy lump formed in Jungkook's throat. It became hard for him to swallow. He opened his mouth to speak but his words got stuck in his throat. He nodded.
"You will."
He swallowed painfully. "I will."
Yoongi smiled. Satisfied.
"Don't think about it anymore, okay? Let me help take your mind off it," He said, grinning and standing from the bed.
He let go of Jungkook's hand and turned around, he began to unbutton his shirt.
Jungkook's eyes bulged as he snapped his head away.
"Do you want us to do anything in particular?" Yoongi asked from the other side of the room, next to the closet and in front of his reading table where his laptop was perched.
Jungkook stuttered around incomprehensibly.
"Eh?" Yoongi turned around confused. He had finished unbuttoning his uniform shirt and his white undergarment showed.
"Uh, anything. I said anything." His heart pounded nervously.
Yoongi nodded. He fully shrugged off his uniform shirt and tossed it into a basket by the door. Then he walked to his table and opened his laptop, powering it.
"I have a couple of recent movies I just downloaded. Romance? Horror? Drama? Or Action?"
"Um.. Action..?" Jungkook said, unsure. He still felt uneasy and nervous.
"Skyscraper it is," Yoongi said. His voice held no ulterior tone. He sounded cheerful. Happy even. And Jungkook wondered if it had anything to do with him being here with Yoongi.
Yoongi set up the movie and brought the laptop over to the bed, placing it at the other end of the bed.
"You'd love this movie. Do you enjoy The Rock's movies?"
Jungkook nodded. He had especially loved Jumanji. It had made him laugh a lot.
"Then you would love this one. I assure you," Yoongi said certainly.
Jungkook watched as the movie started to play on the HP laptop. He settled well, sitting crisscross and leaning his back against the headboard of the bed.
"I'll get you something to munch on," Yoongi said and exited the room.
Jungkook looked away from the TV and let his eyes look around the typical looking room of a teenage boy.
He was getting to believe that Yoongi was sincere about his care and worry for him. He had really calmed Jungkook down and made him feel better.
It made him feel guilty for being shitty to him earlier. He was a true friends. And maybe he didn't exactly want to be friends with Jungkook, but he truly cared for Jungkook and was ready to take care of him that way.
Jungkook wondered if he had missed out on a great friendship by pushing Yoongi away all those times. Maybe his misery and problems wouldn't be so heavy now if he had had someone to share his feelings with.
At least, before Jin had come along.
He felt apologetic towards Yoongi. He felt grateful too.
When Yoongi arrived he was holding a bag of chips and two cans of Sprite.
"If I recall, you love Sprite. Right?" Yoongi asked, walking over and taking a sit on the edge of the bed.
"Yes."
He and Jungkook were facing the same direction , the door. The laptop was placed on that position which was the other end of the bed. Yoongi's body was turned towards Jungkook but he made sure to sit away from Jungkook. Jungkook noticed.
He opened the back of chips and gave it to Jungkook, placing a cam of Sprite by Jungkook's leg. "Here you go."
"Thank you."
They both settled to watch the movie. Jungkook had his full attention on the movie, his mind fully divulged in it. He didn't notice Yoongi's long stares at him nor that Yoongi hadn't taken a piece of chips, and he had been the only one eating it.
When he finally realized Yoongi wasn't eating, lucky for Yoongi, he had already turned away from his stare, Jungkook stretched out the bag towards him.
"Here. Eat some."
Yoongi turned to look at his hand. "Thank you." Yoongi took a piece with a smile and popped it into his mouth, eating with muffled bites.
Jungkook found the way he ate interesting. It was adorable.
"Have some more," Jungkook said, pushing the bag towards him again.
Yoongi chuckled, finding Jungkook sweet. "Thank you." He took another one and ate it.
Smiling to himself, Jungkook turned back to the movie and was lost in it once again.
It was still early when they finished the movie, so Yoongi played Jumanji for Jungkook who requested to see it.
In the period of watching the movie Yoongi's mother returned from work.
"I'll be back," Yoongi said to him getting to his feet.
Jungkook started to get up too. "I think I should go."
Disappointment flashed through Yoongi's face. "Why?"
"My mum will soon be back from work too," Jungkook answered.
"Okay." Yoongi sighed in defeat. He didn't want Jungkook to leave, at least not yet.
Jungkook wore his shoes and slung his backpack over his shoulders, and soon he and Yoongi were walking out of the room and heading towards the living room.
"Mum!" Yoongi called, looking around for his mother.
"In the kitchen," His mother called back.
"Come on," Yoongi said to him and led him to the Kitchen.
Mrs Min gasped when she saw who her son was with. She smiled fondly at him and pulled him into a hug.
"Jungkook. Where have you been? It's been ages."
Jungkook smiled, hugging her back.
"Welcome," She said, rubbing his back before pulling away. "You're even more handsome than before."
Jungkook blushed. "Thank you, Mrs Min."
"When did you arrive? Did you both come together from school?" She asked.
Jungkook took a backseat in answering the question. He didn't want to start explaining to Mrs Min, neither did he want to lie.
Yoongi went in. He nodded. "Yes. After school, we came right here. Jungkook wanted to take the notes he borrowed me."
"Ah, I see. Are you leaving now?" She eyes his backpack and shoes. "Aren't you staying for dinner? I'll just change and begin to make it."
"No, thank you, ma," Jungkook said, shaking his head.
"Are you sure?"
Jungkook nodded. "I'm okay, ma."
"We'll get going, mum. Let me see him off to the bus stop," Yoongi said.
Jungkook said his goodbyes to Mrs Min before leaving the house with Yoongi.
They walked to the station and when Bus 14 approached in a distance, Yoongi took his hand.
"Don't forget to call or text me. I'll check up on you later. Leave your phone on."
Jungkook nodded.
"But turn off the Wi-Fi," Yoongi cautioned.
Jungkook smiled almost in awe and gratitude. "I will. Thank you."
Yoongi gave his face one last caress before ketting him climb into the bus.
Jungkook waved through the window just as the bus zoomed off. A sigh left his lips.
He didn't know what would have happened to him if Yoongi hadn't showed up, or made him feel better. He was certain now, Yoongi was a nice person. It should have been him all these while, not Jimin and Taehyung. Maybe by now, they would still have a great relationship and Jungkook's life would have been perfect.
As houses blurred by, Jungkook fetched his phone from his pocket. He had logged out of all his social media accounts but still, he turned of the automatic Wi-Fi.
He went to his text message and composed a message.
To Min Yoongi:
Thank you, Yoongi. And I'm sorry. For everything.
Once the message was sent, he put his phone into his bag and looked back out the window at the cars and buildings drifting by.
