When Jungkook got back home, it was past 7 in the evening.
His mother would be home any moment and the house was all messed up. Namjoon had vomited almost everywhere on the stairs and in the hallway.
Jungkook gagged at the disgusting sight and odour. How the hell was he going to clean up the place with his weak stomach? He might end up vomiting too!
Oh God! Jungkook turned away from the view. If he left the place like that, Namjoon might not see the next morning. Their mother could pummel him to death on his bed and throw his body into the thrash.
She could do it. She had threatened Namjoon so many times.
Jungkook didn't exactly have a close relationship with his big brother, but he also didn't want to lose him anytime soon. So, after grabbing a scarf which he securely wrapped from his nose bridge down to his neck, Jungkook grabbed a brush and a mop.
Despite his efforts to tidy up the place, he knew for sure that Namjoon was going to get into trouble. There was no way out. He had broken their only family picture frame. His punishment would be severe, and Jungkook prayed to not be at home when the punishment would be served.
Some minutes past 8, Jungkook has thrashed all the shreds of glass and dirt into the thrashcan in the backyard, then doused almost half a bottle of air freshener in the room, to cover the smell of vomit and shame from the room.
Once he was done, Jungkook tiredly trudged up to his room but not before stopping by Namjoon's room. It was just as messed up as the rest of the house.
Jungkook sighed, shrugging his shoulders. He had done his best to help Namjoon. His room was beyond him and Namjoon would have to face the consequences if their mother chose to enter the room. And for Namjoon's sake, he hoped Namjoon would have woken up to clean up the place before that ever happened.
Shutting the door and wishing Namjoon luck, Jungkook entered his room and shut the door behind him.
He was back to his own world, back to his misery and thoughts.
Jimin and Yoongi were trying to drive him crazy, but thankfully he had been able to speak his mind and tell them he was not interested.
His talk with Jimin had gone surprisingly well. He had been shocked when Jimin decided to back off and respect his feelings after he told him he loved someone else. Jimin had been silent for a long while before nodding and saying, 'I see. I'm sorry for bothering you all these while. You must have felt pressured.'
Feeling pressured was a mild way to put how Jimin had made him feel with his constant chasing. But Jungkook was glad with the outcome of their earlier decision. He was glad he had chosen to go with Jimin, or he would have been getting frustrated by his phone calls in that moment, with Jimin saying he missed him and asking why he hadn't attended his party.
Jungkook actually felt he had achieved something with Jimin.
But he wasn't quite confident about Yoongi. Yoongi wasn't like Jimin. He was persistent. He was almost as manipulative as Jimin though, maybe even more manipulative.
Jungkook had never imagined his night with Yoongi would end with them kissing. Though, he enjoyed the kiss. Though, Yoongi's lips had felt soft and sweet, and he almost felt aroused by the heat of the moment, but he didn't feel anything for Yoongi.
And he didn't want to lead Yoongi on.
Yoongi was a good guy. He was true and honest, and Jungkook didn't want to hurt him. He didn't want to play with his feelings. He knew very much about heart breaks and being played, and he didn't want to be reason behind it for someone else.
If someone would hate him, he would rather they hated him for the right reasons and not for being a heartless asshole.
He felt relieved he had let Yoongi down calmly and smoothly, but he still hoped for Yoongi not to move about with a sad face. He didn't want to feel guilty anymore.
After confessing and apologizing to Yoongi, Jungkook wanted to be an open book. He wanted to remain sincere with himself and everyone around him. He didn't want to have to hide things from people like how he had done with Yoongi. He wanted to do things and be able to justify his reasons without hesitation or fear.
And that was what he did with Yoongi and also with Jimin.
And maybe he could do the same with Taehyung. Maybe he could meet with Taehyung on Monday and tell him how he felt. Maybe he could do that, and feel better.
Then, maybe he couldn't.
Taehyung was different from the rest. He was pompous, he was proud. He wasn't someone to admit when he goes wrong. He was a person who would rather hold his head high in a lie than lower his head in truth.
It would be a miracle if he apologized.
Jungkook felt his heart sink.
He shook off the thought of Taehyung. He had achieved 2 enormous things that day, he didn't want the thought of Taehyung to ruin how accomplished he felt.
Even if Jimin had been the one that had cheated, thoughts of Taehyung always caused more heart ache than the rest put together.
So, Jungkook took of his shirt and had a quick shower, before slipping into his bed and going to sleep.
-
The next morning, Jungkook woke up to the ringing of his phone.
It was Saturday morning. No one should even be up at that time let alone calling another person who was supposed to be sleeping.
He placed his pillow over his ear to drown out the loud constant ringing of the phone, but the vibration was worse.
He thrashed around in anger and restlessness.
Sitting up abruptly, he angrily eyed his phone that was charging by his reading desk.
He was too tempted to ignore it.
"Who's phone is that!?" The annoyed voice of his mother asked from her room.
Jungkook jumped out of his bed and dived for his phone, answering it without checking the caller.
He would rather receive a call from the devil than have an early encounter with his mother.
"Hello?" He asked, as he put the phone to his ear.
"Hello. Choco Kookie," Jin's voice called.
Jungkook pulled the phone from his ear and looked at the screen. Jin's name flashed on it. He put it back to his ear.
"Hyung," His voice was soft, shocked.
"Good morning. Did I wake you?" Jin asked apologetically.
Jungkook shook his head. His heart raced with excitement, yet nervousness. He didn't believe he was talking with his Jin hyung. "No, you didn't."
It seemed like a lifetime since he and Jin had spoken.
"Oh, okay." He chuckled from the other line. "How have you been? I missed you."
"Hyung, why did you leave me?" Jungkook leaned against the table. "You didn't tell me anything. You just left. Hyung, I needed you. You weren't there. I thought I was going to die."
There was a pause. A heavy silence, and Jungkook could hear Jin's breathing.
"Hyung."
"I didn't mean to not tell you, Kookie. I didn't know I was going to leave, myself. I got lost in all the rush and I even forgot my phone that was why I couldn't call. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. You know I would do anything to be by your side."
Jungkook looked down at his rugged floor as his cheeks hit up.
He was mad at Jin but he couldn't help but be flustered. His heart couldn't help but tug.
"You're mad at me, right?" Jin sighed.
Jungkook pouted stubbornly even though Jin couldn't see him.
"Choco Kookie, answer me. Tell me what happened all these while I've been away. I've missed you. Do you want to ignore me now?"
Jungkook could hear Jin's teasing. He was smiling from excitement. Jin was back.
He couldn't wait to see him, hug him, to be with him.
"Do you want to meet up?"
Jungkook's smile widened.
He nodded. "If you want."
"Don't you want?"
Jungkook crossed his hand to hug his waist. "Well, just because you asked. Not because I haven't stopped thinking about you and missing you so much, and am desperate to see you right now." He ranted. "But because you mentioned it."
Jin laughed. "That's enough for me, Choco Kookie." Jungkook bit his lip to trap his grin. "What time can you come out?"
"Uh, my mum hasn't gone to work yet, so maybe by 9."
"Okay. By 9 then."
"Yeah, okay."
"Choco Kookie?"
"Mmh?" Jungkook hummed in response.
"I missed you."
Jungkook swallowed, blinking. "Good to know."
There was a pause then a laugh. "Okay then. See you soon."
Once the call got disconnected, Jungkook grabbed his chest. Fisting it continuously.
His excitement was killing him. He looked at the time. He had about an hour and 30 minutes before he met Jin. Could he wait that long? He was about to pass out from how fast his heart was racing.
Could he wait!? He could. He had to wait! To see his Jin hyung.
Time went by slower and slower, and Jungkook tried to pass time by doing laundry.
He heard Namjoon get up and stumble around before throwing up.
He was still throwing up? Jungkook thought in puzzlement. He contemplated checking up on him, taking his dirty clothes to wash, but he decided against it.
Namjoon was an ungrateful person, from past experience. And Jungkook was someone who remembered things from a decade ago. So, he walked past Namjoon's door but turned around when the door opened, revealing Namjoon whose face was contorted in a wince and his hand holding his head.
"Ju-jungkook," He stuttered, his eyes shut.
"Yeah?" Jungkook raised a brow.
"Uh.. What time did I get back yesterday?" He groaned.
"Hmmm.. Sometime around 5."
"Oh." He nodded. "Is mom back?"
"She's preparing to go back to work," Jungkook answered shifting back. Namjoon reeked of alcohol and shit.
"Okay. Do you know where aspirin is?"
"No, but I know where toothpaste and toothbrush is," He replied. "Really, hyung, go and wash up. Mum is going to kill you if she sees or smells you."
Namjoon sniffed around his body. "Do I smell that bad?"
"Oh, yes! Like sewer."
Namjoon shot him a glare only to immediately squint his eyes. "Oh man. I feel dizzy."
"You better get moving before you're unable to feel anything ever again," Jungkook warned gesturing that their mother had woken up and was moving around in her room.
Namjoon scurried back into his room, locking the door behind him.
Jungkook stealthily walked down from the stairs and went on to do the laundry.
He made sure to take his time to select the clothes and throw them into the washer in batches. While he waited for his clothes to wash, he had breakfast of cereal and washed his dishes.
His mother only came down after he had hung the clothes to dry in the sun. She was dressed for work.
"Good morning, mum."
"Morning, Jungkook. Where is Namjoon?" She asked.
"Uh, I think he's in the shower. I heard him in there."
She nodded and walked into the kitchen.
Jungkook let out a sigh and smiled to himself before heading up to prepare for his date- hangout.
He had just come out of the shower when he heard it.
"Oh my God!! Jungkook, get down here right now!"
Jungkook's heart sank into his kidney and he held the towel securely around his waist.
A hundred reasons as to why she was calling him swam in his head.
"Jungkook!!"
"M-mum," He answered.
"Are you deaf!?"
He scurrried out of the room with just the towel around his body and his body still dripping wet.
As he passed the hallway, Namjoon peeked out of his room.
"What did you do?" He whispered.
Jungkook shook his head. "I don't know."
"Go before she gets angrier."
As he entered the Kitchen, he saw his mother was fuming.
Jungkook chewed his fingers nervously.
"M-mum?"
She looked up at him. "You're getting water all over the place!"
Jungkook put his hand around his hair to trap all the water from dripping to the floor, but his pressure on it onky made the water pour more.
"I just came out of the bathroom."
She eyed him, contemplating whether to press the matter further. But instead she picked up a picture and raised it up.
Jungkook's mouth fell open.
"What is this?"
The picture that Namjoon had broken the frame. He had kept it on the fridge and had forgotten to hide it away.
"Who did this to this picture!?"
Jungkook feared for his life. He didn't want to snitch on Namjoon.
"Do you want me to kill you!? Answer me! What happened to this-"
"It was Namjoon hyung," Jungkook cried. "It was Namjoon hyung. Not me."
"Namjoon?? Namjoon! Namjoon, get here now!!"
When Namjoon came his eyes were searching around in confusion.
"Mum, you called me."
"What happened to the picture frame? Why is the frame missing?"
Namjoon furrowed his brows in confusion.
"I don't know."
"You don't know. Then why did Jungkook say you broke it?"
Namjoon turned to face Jungkook.
"Are you crazy?"
Jungkook frowned. "You broke it yesterday!"
"Jungkook, are you lying to me?" Their mother inquired angrily.
"I swear, I'm not lying! Hyung broke it yesterday. He threw it at me," Jungkook said directly to Namjoon, eyeing him. You were drunk! He mouthed to Namjoon.
"What?" Namjoon whispered then his eyes widened in realization. Shit!
"Namjoon..." She mused in annoyance.
"I did it," Namjoon admitted. "I'm sorry."
"You broke our only family picture frame?"
"I'll fix it."
"Fix it? I'll like to see where you will get a frame as ancient and as unique as that one. If by the time I return from work this isn't fixed, you will not expect my reaction, Namjoon."
She flipped the picture away and stormed off.
Namjoon sighed in relief, laughing . "She would have killed me!" He turned to Jungkook. "How much did I mess up last night?"
"You threw up everywhere in the living room, broke the frame, hit me, pissed me off."
"Oh." He chuckled, shaking his head.
Jungkook looked at him expectantly.
"What?"
"No thank you? No sorry?"
"Why?"
Jungkook shook his head. "I saved you from death yesterday when I cleaned up this house after you messed it up! I cleaned your disgusting vomit! And today, right now."
Namjoon shrugged, winking. "That's why you're my little bro."
In that moment, he was happy he had chosen not to help Namjoon do his laundry.
Jungkook stared at Namjoon in shock as he strode off. "Pray you never get drunk again. I'll personally call mum and report you to her. Stupid ungrateful bastard." He mumbled the last part.
Jungkook hissed in annoyance as he looked around the kitchen, forgetting what he had been doing earlier.
Then it came to him. "Oh! Jin hyung!"
With that he raced to his room to prepare.
