Jungkook's heart raced.
Was he really kissing Yoongi back?
What the hell was he doing? He didn't feel the same way for Yoongi!
Placing his hand against Yoongi's chest, Jungkook pulled back, at the same time pushing Yoongi lightly.
Yoongi's eyes fluttered open. His eyes searched Jungkook's face, pleading to see what he felt.
Abruptly, Jungkook got to his feet and moved towards the door.
"I'm sorry."
"No, don't." Yoongi shook his head. "You can't be sorry. You didn't do anything."
"I shouldn't have." Taking a deep breath, Jungkook readied himself to give it to Yoongi as he felt it. "I don't love you back. I like you, but not the way you want it. And I'm sorry."
Yoongi's mouth hung open, his eyes fluttered rapidly.
"Please. Let's... Let's be friends?"
Yoongi's head feel. An exasperated sigh espcaped his mouth as his turned on his spot, combing his hand through his head.
"Yoongi..." He didn't mean to hurt Yoongi. He didn't want to hug him.
Jungkook's hand lifted up, but hung in the air. He licked over his lips. He felt the temptation wash through him. Temptation to go over and pat Yoongi's shoulder encouragingly, telling him he deserved better. That he would be fine eventually.
But his will disappeared. He didn't think he was in yhe position to console people.
"Do you still have feelings for him? Who is it? Jimin? Taehyung?"
Jungkook opened his mouth to answer Yoongi, but he was also curious aboyt his answer. He wasn't sure about his feelings. Was he really over his feelings for Jimin? Then what about Taehyung?
Why then did it get to him when he sees Taehyung with someone else?
His hand fell to his side.
"Am I not good enough? Or is there really a problem with me?"
"Please don't say that." He shook his head. "If anything, I'm the one with a problem. I'm the one not good enough, Yoongi."
Yoongi swivelled. "Why then do you push me away like a plague? If the problem is not me, why did you choose Jimin or Taehyung over me?"
How could he leave the room? He was beginning to feel suffocated there. Yoongi was making him breathless and noy in a good way.
"But I love you despite. And you can't see that. No matter how hard I try, you just wouldn't see it." He said desperately.
Could the ground open up and swallow him like a little white pill?!
"It's okay. I understand," Yoongi flashed him a sad smile, sniffing. He shook his head and wiped his tears. "I'm sorry."
"No-"
The door opened, making the two turn to see Jimin walk in.
Jimin halted when he saw he had occupants in his room. His eyes shifted from Jungkook to Yoongi, then back to Jungkook, then he shot a glare at Yoongi.
"What are you doing in my room?" He demanded.
Yoongi shoved his hands his pockets, puffing air from his mouth.
"I asked what you're doing in my room, Yoongi? And even how did you open it?"
"Jimin, it was me. I'm sorry," Jungkook apologized.
How did he get caught in between this chaos? And who asked him to come for the stupid party?!
Jimin's expression softened within a blink of an eye. "I didn't know you came. How long have you been here?"
"Not long. Just a few minutes. Um, I was about leaving."
"No, you can't," He rushed out desperately. "I mean, you just got here."
Jungkook shook his head. "I really can't. I'm sorry. But I have to-"
"Please."
Jungkook rubbed his forehead. "Jimin, don't push it, please."
Jimin hesistated but nodded. "Okay, then. I won't push it. But let me take you home. I'll let you be then."
Jungkook knew he had to avoid another funny encounter that night. He had to use his head, not his racing heart.
"Please."
"I'll drop you." Jungkook's head snapped to Yoongi. "I'll drop you instead."
"Yoongi-"
"No, you won't," Jimin objected.
"Yes, I will," Yoongi fired back.
"Not in this life time, you fugly donkey." Jimin wrapped his hand around Jungkook left wrist.
"He's my date, you deranged porcupine." Yoongi took his other wrist.
"If I don't give a rat's free ass if he's your date or calendar. He's my guest. So, get the fuck away from my sight."
The tension in the room was as heavy as a mountain and Jungkook was caught in the middle of all of it.
How had it all come to this? Right! He was stupid enough to attend the party! A party hosted by Park Jimin, his ex boyfriend, whom he promised never to associate with.
That's right. That was how he got caught and now he had to make a decision!
Oh God, he wanted to kill himself. He should have stayed home. He should have locked himself in his room to avoid confrontations with Namjoon. None of these would have happened then.
"You have no right to take him anywhere!" Yoongi spat.
"Actually I do. He's my boyfriend."
Wait, what? Jungkook turned to look at Jimin, furrowing his brows in confusion. I'm sorry, did he just say boyfriend?
Jimin's grip tightened around his hand.
"Eat glass! No, he's not!"
"Guys, stop," Jungkook finally spoke, snatching his hand from both their hold. "This is just wrong. It doesn't make any sense."
"Tell this hobo to get out of my house. You're so stupid, how the hell did you find your way in here?"
"I don't want to hear anymore!" Jungkook waved his hands at them.
"If you go with him, I will never stop telling everyone at school to beg you to take me back," Jimin said directly at Jungkook. "I will never stop coming to you until you say yes to me."
"I won't let him bother you, I promise," Yoongi said softly to him.
"Come with me."
Yoongi stretched out his hand. "Trust me."
Jungkook was torn between the devil and the deep sea. No decision was right! He didn't want to go to either of them. The only person he wanted to go to in the moment was so far away from him.
"Listen to me, Kook. I'll protect you," Jimin said.
Jungkook shut his eyes tight. Even before the words left his mouth, he knew he was making a mistake. Turning to Jimin, he said, "Okay. Let's go."
He was too embarrassed to face Yoongi, so backing him, he said, "Yoongi, can we see at school on Monday? Please. You promised to be my friend."
Jimin took Jungkook's hand and pulled him out of his room before he could hear Yoongi's reply.
He felt sorry for hurting Yoongi. But at the same time, he felt relieved. At least, he had let him down softly. It was better than running away from him.
He only hoped that things didn't get weird between them.
Jimin's grip around Jungkook's wrist was tight, rough as they swerved through the party.
Jungkook winced in pain and tried to prey Jimin's hand off, but Jimin held on tighter.
"You're hurting me," Jungkook cried.
"Oh, sorry," Jimin turned back to look at him briefy, only releasing his grip a little but still had a possessive hold on him.
Jungkook frowned. Why was Jimin holding him like a possessive boyfriend!?
Right! Jimin had told Yoongi they were boyfriends! He had to ask Jimin about that. He didn't remember going back to Jimin or saying he would date him again? He couldn't just go around telling people they were dating! What if a potential boyfriend heard it!?
Jimin had to stop!
That was one of the reasons Jungkook just didn't want to associate with him anymore. Jimin might be a nerd, he might hide behind those big rimmed glassess and cute baby laugh but he was also very manipulative. He was cunny, and Jungkook feared his potentials. He had learnt not to underestimate them after he had found out about the cheating.
Once they got outside, Jungkook spoke. "We're not dating. Why did you say I was your boyfriend? Last I checked, I was dating Kim Taehyung and we broke up. Since then, I haven't dated anyone. So, what exactly confused you into thinking I was your boyfriend, because I'm not."
"Woah," Jimin said, laughing. "Relax! You made your point in the first sentence, Kook. Oh my God."
Jungkook rolled his eyes.
"Do you hate the idea of dating me so much? Of being my boyfriend again?"
He was silent as they approached Jimin's car.
"I said it because of Yoongi.".
"You didn't have to."
"He likes you."
"I know. I already turned him down," Jungkook admitted.
They both got into the red BMW.
"I don't like that Yoongi dude, sincerely," Jimin said shaking his head.
"Well, you aren't his favourite person either."
"I'm serious, Jungkook," He turned to look at Jungkook, his hand hanging from the key.
"Me too. Yoongi doesn't like you," Jungkook repeated.
He shook his head and started the engine.
"Yoongi seems weird. I hate the way he looks at you."
Jungkook's heart raced. Looks at him? Like he likes him? Like he actually wanted to be with him? Like Jimin was jealous? Jungkook wanted to ask.
"In class, he just stares at you like some kind of food. He doesn't even pay attention to the teacher."
Yeah, says the one observing all these.
"In the hallway, all he does is watch you. I heard he even hacks the principal's computer to change your grades."
"What? Hell no! That's not true!" Jungkook defended, then frowned. "Stop listening to gossip and spreading rumor. It doesn't suit you."
"Oh, then what suits me? Sitting on the side line while that freak takes you away from me?"
"Why are you calling him a freak? That's not fair!"
"No, Jungkook!" Jimin snapped. "What's not fair is you being with Yoongi! Are you serious? When it was Taehyung, I wasn't even this angry. But Yoongi? Are you kidding me!? Why is he better than me, Jungkook? Please explain to me."
"Eh?"
"I'm better looking, I'm taller, I'm intelligent, I'm rich, I'm popular. What- what else do you want? Are you really stupid?"
"I don't care about any of those."
"You don't, huh? Okay!" Jimin abruptly swerved out of the road, and parked the car by the side.
"What is wrong with you!?" Jungkook cried, holding his beating chest.
Jimin turned to him. "What do you want in a guy? Just tell me."
Jungkook, still trying to calm his heart, eyed Jimin. What was he up to now?
"Seriously, tell me."
"Why do you want to know?"
Jimin looked down, then back at him hopefully. "Maybe then I can try to be that person."
Jungkook doubted it. Could Jimin really be the kind of guy he wanted? What kind of guy did he even want? He wasn't sure. But he knew the kind of guy that made him feel what he knew love was supposed to feel like.
Also, he didn't want someone who could manipulate their behavior just to temporarily suite his needs. He wanted someone that he was naturally and effortlessly compatible with. Someone that he could already see in his head.
He smiled. "Someone that makes me smile. Not by saying anything, but just by being there. Someone I wouldn't get tired of talking to. That person's voice makes me happy and jittery. I'm not afraid or nervous. I lose every form of fear or phobia and just want to try things with them. Someone I'm willing to give it up for. When I'm with them, I can be whatever I want, however I want. Someone who listens to what I have to say. Someone who's always there for me. Who leaves all they're doing just to be with me when I need them. Someone who texts me every night before bed, and every morning when I wake up. Someone who calls me sweet names -Kookie, Choco Kookie- and makes me feel special."
Jimin bit his lip.
"It hurts when they're away. When I don't hear from them, my heart hurts and I don't know what to do. I get scared, I leave so many voice messages and texts. And hope they call me every minute. Someone that makes my heart flutter just by thinking about them. Someone that affects me like that."
The silence was thick.
Jungkook sat speechless. His thoughts drifted to his Jin hyung. Where was he? He missed him so much. It was getting too hard staying like that without hearing from him. He didn't know what else to do.
Jimin sat, a sad smile playing on his lips. Jungkook's heart already belonged to someone else. He needed no soothsayer to tell him that. It was too obvious. Too hurtful.
"Does that person exist?"
Jungkook blinked out of his daydream. He looked at Jimin, then slowly nodded. "That person does."
