Chapter 18

After having a very peaceful night, Rachel opened her eyes. She was in Derek’s arms, both of them were sleeping on the floor, Derek’s one hand was touching Rachel’s belly which send some tingling sensations to her mind.

Rachel shook off her inner girly feelings, and removed Derek’s hand from herself, he was still sleeping like a baby and she didn’t want to wake him up. She slid away from Derek’s body, and soon started regretting her decision since she felt really safe in those arms.

She massaged the back of her neck before getting up from the floor; it was still early in dawn. Very few sunrays entered from the small window peak left between the curtains, she made her way to the window and gently pushed away the curtains to take a quick peek.

The whole scenery in front of her eyes left her breathless,

The dark clouds were almost gone, so the blue sky laminated the whole forest with soft light, trees tips were purely white but you can make out the part which were green, soft wind was blowing, it looked as if the trees were shaking off the sadness by shedding away their dead leaves and also making space for their new born buds.

You could make out the top of mountains which were present at the very end of forest; they were barely visible due to the heavy mist covering their feet’s but they were too massive to be completely invisible. Wow this place really is beautiful Rachel thought to herself.

A fairytale scene come true perhaps, any couple would have killed to be in this place, it was so romantic, what a wonderful place to celebrate a honeymoon.

‘Honeymoon’ all these romantic words sounded so bitter to Rachel now. Her dreams of having a perfect wedding, a perfect gown, a perfect honeymoon were now all shattered and lying on the floor in million pieces, and she was too hurt to pick them up now.

She moved away from the window, she picked up a pillow from the bed and made her way to Derek, she tried to gently lift his head with one hand and slid the pillow underneath it, and then she tried to remove her hand after she was done but it was stuck underneath Derek’s head, she sighed heavily but only to find a completely awake Derek smirking at her.

“Hey” Rachel said in a whisper while trying to cover her face with her brunette locks. It was really embarrassing, but she couldn’t let Derek see her completely red face. 

“Hey back” Derek said while making no attempt to lift his head. He was really enjoying this.

“Comfortable enough?” Rachel asked signalling to her stuck hand with her eyes.

“It’s alright, I guess.” Derek replied with a wink.

Astonished by his reaction Rachel jerked her hand back violently, but he was still chuckling like a little boy.

“You are so charming, aren’t you?”

“Oh darling you have seen nothing yet.”

“Darling” Rachel raised one eyebrow at this remark.

“Now don’t tell me that you don’t like it, because I know you do.” Derek replied moving his body sideway to face Rachel, with his head resting on his hand.

Rachel suddenly felt a little uncomfortable with the new attention but she tries her best to laugh it off. “You know a lot about me.”

Derek didn’t say anything but he just couldn’t take his eyes off from her, he takes out his free hand to play with her hair, this could be the most intimate romantic moment they have ever shared.

Before Rachel can protest he decided to cherish this moment forever he gently pushed Rachel towards himself with the nape of her neck and captured her lips in his.

She didn’t fought back but she didn’t responded either but only for few seconds she couldn’t hold back the fire building in her body any longer. And then she completely gave in the kiss, Derek was surprised by her reaction but didn’t complaint one bit but instead he made the kiss more deeper, he grabbed her by the waist to position Rachel on top of him, and before they even knew it, that one simple kiss changed into a one complete hot make out session.

Rachel wanted to do so much more but she had to shoot her desires for one reason only she was married. No matter how horrible or messy the situation was she can’t let the heat of the moment take over herself. She needed a reality check how about Ethan is still out there. Well that definitely worked because the next thing she was doing was getting up from Derek’s body and pulling away from that amazing kiss.

“Oh god I am sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.” Derek said while pulling his hair back with his hands. He felt so hurt, how this one girl could have so much effect on him that he hasn’t been in love with anyone else but her as long as he can remember.

“No, I want to.” Rachel uttered those words before thinking straight, but she wasn’t lying either. “It’s just we can’t do this again, I mean in the wrong way, if we are sure of what we want, which I am of now, we should do take necessary steps first.”

A sudden wave of happiness swept Derek from his feet’s, did she just really say all of that...

“Of course whatever you say Rachel, I can’t believe for how long I have wanted to hear this from you.” He stroked her jaw curve with his fingers while saying this.

Rachel smiled at this gesture “so how do we get out of here? We can’t just walk off from the front door. He’s dangerous.”

It took some few seconds to register this he for Derek in his mind. She was talking about his brother.

“I am sure he doesn’t suspect anything right now, we can just wait until the rangers come and find us.”

“How long that will be?” Rachel asked curiously with a hint of sadness in her voice.

“Not that long, I told them if I won’t be able to contact them in twenty four hours they will have to fetch their snowmobile and my dead body themselves.” Derek laughed uneasily at his poor joke, and also at how every word he just said was true. “They have GPS tracker on the snowmobile, I am sure they will be here by some few hours.”

“Are you sure?” it was all too good to be true for Rachel.

“Yes dear, I am sure. Now stop worrying... I am sure we can spend some hours without being attacked by Ethan, plus I am much stronger than him.”

Rachel giggled at the thought of Derek over powering Ethan “oh darling, I can digest almost every lie you tell me but not this one. You are a chocolate hero... not a action one.”

Derek pretended to be hurt but cringed inside at the sight of being in a fight with Ethan “have you seen these guns!!” he pointed toward his arms muscle, he was not out of shape, but he didn’t possess the perfect abs either.

Rachel couldn’t help but burst into laughter at his comment but her laughter soon came to an end by a knocking sound.

She clamped both of her hands on her mouth tightly.

“Hey I brought you breakfast, open the door!!” Ethan’s almost cheerful voice came from the other side of the door.
