Epilogue
*Jhanvi Pov*
"But why?" I asked while arranging the clothes on the bed in the order I want to place them in the cupboard.
"My whole family is here and they want to meet you. I know you all shifted yesterday only and must have work to do. So, come to my house and meet them for dinner." She requested.
"Kalpana!" I said, sighing.
"You can get rest with cooking too, and you must be tired with all the work." She added.
"Then shouldn't I stay back and rest?" I asked and she laughed.
"Please!" she pleaded and I finally accepted, but her next words made me stiffen.
"Don't bring Jay!" she suddenly said and I frowned at her words.
"Why?" I asked not being able to keep the anger away.
"Well, they are still angry with everything. Why make him face all that?" she asked, but I continued to frown.
"I will call later." I said and hung up before calmly placing the clothes inside the cupboard.
"Most of the work is finished out there. What about here?" Jay asked, walking inside the room, but I kept silent.
"I am sweaty!" I said when he suddenly hugged me from behind.
"Even I am! We will have a bath soon and maybe together." He said hugging me more tightly.
"My work is finished here. Is Lakshmi still sleeping?" I asked, turning around.
"Yes! Every worker left too, and I paid them off." He replied, but frowned staring at my face.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, placing his hand on my cheek.
"Where is that shower you were talking about?" I asked him smirking and immediately shrieked when he dragged me to the washroom.
"Will you tell me now?" he asked when we were trying to take an afternoon nap and I sighed.
"Kalpana's family is here and they want to meet me." I replied and he nodded.
"I will drop you both." He said and I immediately sat up.
"Will you not come with us?" I asked and he smiled.
"It is better if I don't. They must be angry at me for the kidnapping fiasco." He replied, sitting up and pulled me back to his arms.
"You are coming with me." I said leaning back.
"Jhanvi!" he said, but I shook my head.
"Jhanvi! This is not at all a good idea." He said, but I ignored him and continued to drag towards the main door before ringing the bell.
"Jhanvi!" Kalpana said, smiling, opening the door and gave an awkward smile to Jay.
"Well, I will apologize for anything that happens today. And I do not want you to keep it against me." She added warning me and I nodded.
"Everyone! My best friend Jhanvi and her husband Jay with their cute little daughter Lakshmi." Kalpana said when we all walked to the living room.
"Lakshmi!" Sudhir said and dragged her away near the kids who are sitting at one corner of the room.
"What is he doing here?" a guy asked and walked towards Jay with anger while I held Jay;s hand tightly before standing before him.
"I know you all are angry. But, he repented and he paid enough." I said calmly, but I can see the man before me is not ready to listen.
"Do you know how cruel is someone to kidnap a person?" he asked me.
"Tajwar!" A woman said, walking near to him and gave an awkward smile to me.
"Fine! We will leave and he is here because he is not accepted somewhere or to someone, then even I am not." I said and turned to see Jay smiling at me.
"You stay, Jhanvi! I am not close to them to feel anything about their words." He said honestly.
"Then I will not be close to them." I said simply and he sighed.
"And just tell me if any of you never did something bad with no control over your actions and mind." I added staring at many people who are staring at us.
"Lakshmi!" I called for her and she immediately started walking towards us but a woman stopped her before making her go back near kids.
"Now, why is everyone silent. Please go and bash him if you never did anything wrong." The same woman said walking near to me and smiled.
"I am Nipuna and Kalpana's cousin. She told us how you took care of her in the hospital and during delivery time too. I am in debt for you for taking care of her." She said smiling.
"She is my friend." I said simply and she hugged me before turning towards Jay.
"If she is fine with you then we don't have any right to be angry with you. And do ignore Tajwar. He is kind of crack." She said in a whisper and we both laughed.
"Well, if everything is over, why don't we all settle." An older woman said and we both sat down with everyone so calm.
"Jhanvi! Sudhir showed me Lakshmi's drawings he had here. They are very nice and I am Amrin by the way." Another woman said.
"You are obsessed with art talk." One man complained smiling at her and introduced himself as Dileep.
And the communication started between each of them slowly removing the silence. But all the time I held Jay's hand, hoping I didn't do anything wrong by bringing him here.
"Close your eyes!" Kalpana said suddenly making me frown.
"Why?" I asked, but she gave a glare and I finally closed.
"Happy birthday to you!" they started singing and I immediately opened my eyes in shock to see her bringing a cake while Jya stiffened beside me.
"I didn't know!" he whispered while I squeezed his hand, letting him know it is fine.
"I forgot!" I said aloud and they all laughed before I cut the cake.
"What do you wish for Jhanvi?" Nipuna asked and I smiled at her.
"I wish I can meet my son soon to tell him something." I replied smiling.
"Well, we will get him here by tomorrow. Where is he?" Uncle asked while Jay placed his hand on my shoulder hugging me.
"He is with his father." I replied and the questions started to which I calmly replied.
I saw Dileep stiffen along with his father, but I ignored it, realizing they must be angry for the way everything happened.
"Another crazy family? Uncle! Didn't you tell me about some family like this? So, there are total three." Nipuna said, shaking her head.
"Actually, this is the one I talked about." Uncle said and I frowned at him.
"You mean the meanest man you talked about?" she asked and he nodded.
"He was always distant when we were in boarding school. Then, because of the rules of his kingdom, none of us visited him at all. But I sometimes heard about him from a friend of mine who is working in that kingdom as minister. There was a speculation of him killing his own wife and daughter too." He replied and I stiffened along with others.
"Jay... Jay... my Harsha..." I said, gasping for air while rubbed my back before pressing my head on my knees.
"Please control, Jhanvi!" he said and immediately took out his mobile before dialing some number.
"Ali! How is Harsha?" he asked and I immediately sat up while he pressed speaker mode.
"He is fine! Why?" Ali asked and I sighed in relief, but then anger took over.
"How could you let my son be at a place where a monster is living? How can I believe his safety near your father?" I asked and met with silence.
"Who told you?" he asked calmly.
"One of your father's old classmate." I replied and he sighed.
"Thank to Allah! Someone is there who knows about his character. Here, I was tired with hearing everyone's praise of him all the time." He said and I gripped the Jay's hand.
"This is not the time for jokes, Ali. If Harsha gets one little scrape, I will not spare it." I warned him.
"Do you think I will allow it? Why do you think we got divorced?" he asked raising his voice.
"What does that have with this?" I asked raising my voice.
"Because, I had a deal with him that everything relating to Harsha will be in my hands but not his and for that he wanted the divorce to occur and it happened." He replied and I groaned.
"What is the need for all this when you could have sent him back with me?" I asked covering my face feeling dread inside thinking about the danger for Harsha.
"The moment we got married in here, he is lost to both of us. I wouldn't have married you. Hell! I wouldn't have brought you here if he had not played an act of being ill and that he is changed man. After everything he did, I wouldn't have caused any act of harm over you both, but he fooled me." He replied and abruptly went silent which was the same from my side.
"I am coming there for my son." I said after a few minutes.
"No! You couldn't come and even if you can, then you will be behind the bars for trying to take the heir away. I saw for many loopholes, but couldn't find one. So, got the training and anything relating to Harsha in my hands with no power in my father's. Everyone thinks him as god and no one will help us." He said and I hid my face on Jay's shoulder.
"Then what should we do? We can't stay idle here knowing all this." Jay said in a hard tone.
"Okay! I know you both don't trust me but trust my words now. I promise on my life that not a single harm will reach near Harsha. I will bring him to you, Jhanvi. Even if he got a little holiday, he will be there. Please, that's all we can do and that's all can happen. I will give this number to Harsha and you can talk to him whenever you wish to at the timings I will give so that my father will not get to know about it." He said in a pleading tone and this is the first time I am hearing it.
"Why are you so scared of him?" I asked finally.
"Because I am just not dead in his hands and that's all." He replied and hung up.
"Do not worry, Jhanvi! I shouldn't have talked all this, but I couldn't stop myself. He said he will look over Harsha right and you can talk to him and also meet him. If you feel for a second Harsha is not fine, I will do everything in my hands to at least try to get him back." Uncle said and I nodded.
After that, the dinner was a silent affair and we left the house in silence too for our home. Lakshmi slept off during the car ride itself and Jay got her inside her room while I walked inside ours.
"Jhanvi!" he whispered, hugging me from behind while I was laying on the bed.
"Am I a bad mother? I should have fought more when he was here, right?" I asked and he immediately turned me over.
"No! Don't even think like that. You are an amazing one and Harsha is lucky along with Lakshmi." He replied, lifting my chin and brushed away my tears.
"Then I will not be a bad one for this one, right?" I asked, taking his hand and placed it on my stomach.
"Jhanvi!" he whispered with astonished expression and I nodded.
"I wanted us to have a big family." I mumbled and he hugged me with tears in his eyes.
"In a few days there are holidays as per message Ali sent when I was placing Lakshmi. We will tell others after informing Harsha." He said and I smiled hugging him tightly.
"Whatever you say." I said in a typical obedient voice and he laughed moving a little.
I brushed his tears away and stared at him thinking from which point did I reached to this stage of life. There were hurdles and still are. There were regrets and still are. I know if I need he will help me to protect my son and I will pray the situation never comes.
Still, I know I will never be alone again and he will be there in every step of taking care for Lakshmi and our baby. I pressed my lips to his while he placed his hand on my stomach caressing it.
