Chapter 8
*Jay Pov*
"She... she is moving, Sir." I glanced up from the newspaper to see the face of the maid with shock covering it.
"Really? Is she talking?" I asked her.
"No! She is like before only but moving her face and hands by her own." She replied and I frowned.
"Okay! You gave her breakfast?" I asked, standing up.
"Yes!" she replied and I nodded, walking away to reach her room.
Now what is this new thing? I thought sighing and walked inside to see her turning to lay on her side.
"So, you are back to normal?" I asked, feeling relief, but she kept quiet, staring at the wall.
"You are doing it on purpose or is it something else?" I asked, sitting on the chair beside her.
She flicked her eyes to me and just stayed like that while I waited for her to say something. When she didn't, I cleared my throat feeling awkward.
"You there?" I asked, waving my hand feeling weird this time.
"Jhanvi?" I called and placed my hand on her cheek, for which she didn't do anything.
"Well, now as my hand is not swatted away, I can understand you are really not here, but some change happened." I stated and took my hand away.
"Why don't we go out today? Maybe we will have lunch out." I said, standing up and walked outside.
"We both will be going out. You also can leave after you get her ready." I said looking at the maid.
"Okay, Sir!" she said and walked inside her room.
I got ready and walked to the cupboard where I placed the bag I found the first day. I took it out and counted the money before walking downstairs to see the maid bringing her out of the room completely ready in the wheelchair.
"You can leave." I said, nodding at the maid and walked outside after her.
After a few minutes, we both are in the car with complete silence. I started tapping my fingers on the steering and turned to look at her.
"Look, you asked me and I am doing this. I don't want any change of mind later, okay?" I asked and she just sat there looking out.
"I never feared anyone before you know, but you can seriously make anyone feel scared. Do you know I got scratches on my arms?" I asked looking at my hands.
"Going to this place is actually difficult for me." I mumbled when the signal changed and I started driving.
"We are here." I mumbled parking the car and got out before taking out the wheelchair from the back seat along with the bag.
After getting her in it, I started walking towards the main office pushing her. I said my name and they asked me to wait for a few minutes for my appointment.
"Yes, Mr.Jay! What can I do for you?" the head madam asked, smiling warmly at us when we got inside after ten minutes.
"We want to donate this money." I said, opening the bag and placed it on her table.
"What?... but..." she frowned and gaped at the money present.
"This was a gift for this woman here to leave her family which she doesn't want. So, she will be happy if you take it." I added when she just sat there feeling shock.
She then glanced at Jhanvi and showed sadness seeing her condition. She nodded and started making procedures for the donations.
"Why this orphanage?" she asked looking at me.
"I searched that you have many branches. I am sure this money can be used for all those if needed." I replied giving the part truth.
"Please meet the kids and go." She suddenly said when I stood up to leave.
"But..." I started saying with a frown.
"They will feel happy to meet you both. They always feel happy to meet new people." She said and I immediately nodded.
Before I know we were given the whole tour and then we reached a play room. I left Jhanvi near the door and it is difficult to bring the chair inside while asking the one of the workers to look after her.
I walked inside the room and looked around smiling. She started saying how many of them are left by their parents.
How could they? I thought and immediately shook my head. Didn't I do the same thing? I thought and gasped, feeling the anger anew for myself.
How I wish I had a little trust on my fate and control over my past so that I would have at least listened to Kalpana without throwing her out and miss out on everything.
"We will leave." I said, feeling the chest constrict and turned only to still in my place.
Because there is a little girl standing near Jhanvi holding a small doll with one have holding Jhanvi's hand with another.
Then suddenly she was about to fall, but in a blink Jhanvi held her hand pulling her towards her and then she gasped blinking her eyes.
"She just started walking and trying to go everywhere she can." Madam explained, but I was staring at Jhanvi who looked around and then at the little girl with a frown.
The girl slowly moved the doll towards Jhanvi and then smiled. Jhanvi smiled a little but took the doll.
"What is her name?" I asked madam.
"Lakshmi!" she replied and walked towards them.
Jhanvi glanced up and frowned at me but looked back at Lakshmi and slowly started to talk. She again smiled and I smiled, thinking more than good resulted in us coming here.
"We will leave?" I asked Jhanvi and she nodded frowning.
"Thank you for everything." Madam said, looking at Jhanvi to which she frowned with confusion.
"Thank you!" I mumbled and was about to walk out, but felt my phant being tugged.
I glanced to my right to see the same little girl pointing the doll in Jhanvi's lap. I smiled and took it before passing it to her.
"Bye, Lakshmi!" I said, ruffling her hair and walked out along with pushing the wheelchair.
"Where is Kalpana?" that's all she asked when we reached the car.
"I will tell you." I replied and opened the passenger seat.
She tried to get up, but I know due to weakness, she is unable to. I contemplated, but as even after five minutes, it is the same thing, I took matters in my hands.
"What?" she asked immediately when I lifted her.
"We will talk." I replied and got her inside before placing the wheelchair in the back seat.
"Kalpana is not in the station. Manohar and she are out of the station." I added, remembering the words from his company secretary I contacted.
"Office work?" she asked frowning.
"No! I called there, but it is not that. However, it can be honeymoon." I replied, giving a nonchalant shrug.
"They both are married?" she asked and immediately coughed.
"Yes! So, you see I am unable to contact to anyone so you are staying with me." I replied.
"Why were we there and why was she thanking me?" she asked frowning.
"She was thanking you for the donation." I replied.
"What donation? And can you please reply properly and not half answer." She mumbled leaning back closing her eyes.
"The money you got, I donated it today." I replied and she immediately opened her eyes to stare at me.
"Thank you!" she mumbled.
"I just hoped you will not change your mind." I mumbled back.
"Never!" she spatted and I nodded before everything filled with silence.
"You will be like this or will you go back to unconsciousness?" I asked and she gave a confused look.
"I am not saying that it is some wrong thing if you go back to silent state, but still it would be better because you need strength which you can get by some solid food. If you are not even conscious then how can we give you the solid food?" I asked frowning.
"Why do you talk too much? And how do I know how will I be?" she asked, closing her eyes and rubbed her forehead.
"Anyway, we will be having lunch outside today. Do you have any preference?" I asked to which she shook her head.
"Take out or do you want to go inside?" I asked parking the car.
"I don't know! You are the one who got my burden and not me so it is your wish." She replied shrugging.
"Do you want to go inside in the wheelchair? I will take you inside if you will not feel anything about it." I said.
"If you already decided to take out, then why are you asking me?" she asked frowning.
"I would have taken you inside if you were not conscious properly." I replied and she groaned.
"Please take out." She mumbled, closing her eyes.
"Okay! Stay inside." I said, getting out of the car and immediately grinned.
"It is so nice to irritate someone, but it is nicer to have replies back to all the conversations I had one sided all these days." I mumbled and walked inside whistling.
"I will also order dinner, but if you want anything light, then I can prepare it." I said getting inside the car.
"Let's first finish the lunch." She mumbled leaning on the window.
We reached my house and I got her out lifting before placing her on the chair. However, she herself pushed the wheelchair to which I shrugged and opened the door.
I placed the box on the table and sat myself on one chair while she preferred to stay in the same chair.
"You need not use that after you get enough energy. You see, due to only liquids and tablet effects you are unable to use your body." I explained.
"I know! I am a nurse." She mumbled and I nodded remembering it.
"I will go and sleep. Where is my room?" she asked eating only half of the food and pointed her the room.
"If you need anything, call me." I said to which she nodded and started moving away but stopped.
"Thanks for saving me." She mumbled and again continued.
I ended up making a light dinner and took it to her later. After that there were no words exchanged as I can see she is tired.
Next day, the maid was surprised and continued to talk to her how happy she is that Jhanvi is fine now.
I started going to my office for more hours from that day and the conversations got cut completely with her locking herself in the room and I suddenly missed the one sided conversations.
I sighed, but after four days got a surprise with her slowly walking towards the couch where I am sitting returning from the office.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, to which she nodded with an awkward smile.
She just stood there looking everywhere and fidgeted with her hands. I sighed and stood up yawning, feeling tired by myself.
"What is it?" I asked, to which she glanced at me.
"Can you take me to the orphanage?" she suddenly asked and I stared at her with shock.
"I just... I just want to see that girl. She was... she was so sad and I want to see her once more." She explained when I stayed silent.
"Lakshmi?" I asked, frowning because I didn't see anything like that except the girl.
"Yes!" she replied.
"I didn't see the sadness." I mumbled to which she sighed.
"I am not lying." She said, shaking her head.
"I know! I am just bad at understanding the expressions." I said shrugging.
"We will go now." I said, nodded and she immediately gave a small smile.
This is the second time I am seeing her smiling and both times is related to that little girl. Seriously, things happen in weird ways from one place to another.
*Someplace far away*
"Mom!" a little boy mumbled in his sleep while the door to his room is already opened with a person standing there.
The person frowned and then heard the boy crying for his mother making him frown more with confusion.
"Father!" he said the moment he reached the destination to which he started hearing his boy's cries.
"What is it, Ali?" the old man asked, not even glancing up.
"He is crying for her." Ali replied.
"So?" the old man asked back.
"Why didn't he choose her then?" Ali asked back.
"How can I know? Maybe he wanted all this." That is the reply he got.
"Is there anyway you got yourself involved?" Ali asked with narrowed eyes.
"Ali! All these years he lived with her petty salary and couldn't do anything what he wished for. But now he can do anything he wishes and why not. He is the prince of this kingdom. Maybe somewhere a part of him is missing her, but he chose to stay here." The old man replied.
"Why do I still not believe that?" Ali mumbled.
"Keep your mind on training him to be a great prince than these things." Oldman said, waving him off and Ali started walking away but stopped near the door.
"By the way, I am more than proud of her for the way she brought up our son on her own and that too so amazingly by being a nurse with such petty salary while you being the king to this kingdom were unable to." He stated and left the room leaving the old man to fume at the door but he shrugged knowing well he won with a satisfied smile.
