Chapter 11
*Jay Pov*
I think everything is settled with me leaving the house for office not even meeting them both literally as she stayed away. Then at night I would return early so that she can go for work.
She doesn't say anything and I too just greet her but make sure she takes the car to go. However, there is something which she doesn't know.
After that she doesn't know what actually happens, as Lakshmi immediately wakes up the moment she leaves and walks to the couch where I will be sitting.
Each day we will be doing something or the other as she wishes even though she doesn't say anything but we still spend time before she goes back to sleep.
I either stay back in her room or go to my room. I sleep for some time, but make sure to be awake when she returns, but don't go down to meet her knowing well she will not like it.
And like that nearly two weeks passed. I took the leave and sat in the dining area waiting for both of them.
"You are still here?" Jhanvi asked in a shocked tone.
"Yeah! I know it is very difficult to see my face, but today we need to go to the hospital." I replied and glanced at Lakshmi smiling to which she smiled back.
"I am completely fine. Do we need to?" she asked and I turned to see her frowning.
"Yes!" I replied simply.
"Then I can go by myself." She said, sitting down and making Lakshmi sit beside her.
"I have to come with you." I said, leaning back and she frowned, but had her breakfast in silence after helping Lakshmi.
"What about Lakshmi?" she asked and I smiled.
"I already asked the maid and she is ready to take care of her." I replied.
"But..." she started, but trailed off with a frown.
"She took care of you for so many days and I trusted her which she never lost." I explained and she slowly nodded.
"It's good to see you again, Ms.Jhanvi." Anne said then the moment we walked in and smiled at me.
"Thank you, Doctor." Jhanvi said back smiling.
"She is more better and I don't know what magic is happening." Anne said after some time.
But I know the magic and even the name! I thought, smiling and leaned back on the couch.
I nodded at the receptionist when she brought the form and sighed at the spouse place only. She gave it to Anne and left the room.
"I think, you got used and signed in the wrong place." Anne said pointing the form.
"No! This is the first time I signed at the right place." I said back standing up along with Jhanvi who is frowning at me.
"I don't understand!" Anne said, getting up herself.
"It's nothing, Doctor. We will leave." Jhanvi said and started moving towards the door.
"We both got married two weeks back." I said, ignoring her way of skipping up the question.
"What?" Anne asked with complete shocked tone.
"Yeah!" I replied, smiling at her and then looked at Jhanvi to see her frowning at me.
"But... but how?" Anne asked and I kept silent.
"I wanted to adopt a girl and for that so much was needed and we both got married." Jhanvi explained.
"Oh!" that's all she mumbled.
"You both don't like each other?" she asked, staring at both of us.
"No!" Jhanvi gave within the next second with so much force.
"Okay!" Anne said and I just walked out passing Jhanvi reaching the car before her.
"You need not tell her all that." She said the moment I started the car but I ignored her.
"I am talking to you." She added frowning but I again ignored her.
"Are you deaf?" she shouted and then I glanced to her side when the red signal appeared.
"Did I ask that question when you ignore me? You wished that we don't have any conversations and I am respecting it." I said with a blank face and turned back to see the signal changing.
What else should I do? The disgust was the same in her tone like it was on the first day. Am I not repenting? Am I treating her bad?
Or is it like no matter what I do, the past will roam above my head never leaving me. That is the case I guess and suddenly I feel it is unfair.
Kalpana is happy in her life, but still this woman here is pushing me back to the memories which I don't want to go through.
I know what I did was the worst thing, but I lost for that also right? I don't have a person who wishes to be with me and I don't have my son with me.
What else should I lose to make the payment for my mistake? I thought stopping at the house and waited until she gets out before driving away.
I drove aimlessly and then stopped near the park before getting down. I sat on the bench and rubbed my neck before leaning back.
Oh god! What should I do? Should I leave them and go away as it seems they don't need me?
Of course they may not need anything else after I give the house and anything else but then the people from the orphanage may knock at any time.
Why is she so angry at me? I am being polite to her and even showing her the respect right? What should I do to remove that disgust tone whenever someone even suggests some relation between us?
Why am I thinking of the most impossible thing? I asked myself and shook my head before closing my eyes. Before I know, I drifted off into sleep.
After some time I woke up to see it has been evening already and I am damn hungry. I bought chat and started having it while staring around to see so many kids.
I bought two balloons after having my food and left for my house. However, when I reached there I saw Jhanvi pacing in the living room.
I opened my mouth, but closed before calmly walking away to Lakshmi's room, but her words stopped me.
"What?" I asked her frowning.
"Did you have your lunch?" she asked and I nodded slowly.
She nodded back and looked around fidgeting with her hands. Then she glanced at me and then looked away before starting to walk towards her room.
"Is something wrong?" I asked before I can stop myself to which she shook her head before walking away.
In the night I felt happy seeing Lakshmi playing with the balloons. I too loved them, but then always remembered my Dad whenever I see them so stopped buying them completely.
But something was definitely wrong, which I realized after a week of her weird behavior. I would have been fine if that was only towards me but to my surprise, I felt her being distant to Lakshmi too.
Then one day I returned expecting her to pace in the living room so that she can leave for work, but what I found was her sitting on the couch and crying.
"Jhanvi! What is it?" I asked, but she looked away from me but continued to cry.
For a few minutes I sat with my back to her, but still she didn't open her mouth. I scratched my head before walking inside Lakshmi's room to search for the thing which I need right now.
Finally finding it, I walked out and sat beside her this time facing her. She turned towards me brushing away her tears, but stopped in shock seeing my face and covered her face releasing a chuckle.
"What is this?" she asked, gesturing the batman mask I am wearing.
"You don't like to talk to me so I turned my back, but it seems like a more sensitive issue. So, I came up with this idea." I explained sighing in relief thinking this may work.
"Now, tell me what happened." I added and she stared at me for a second before closing her eyes.
"The day we returned from the hospital, Lakshmi called me Maa." She slowly said and I sat still.
"What? She talked and you didn't tell me? Do you hate me so much that you didn't say a word about it?" I asked, feeling hurt that I didn't know that she even said anything.
"I hate myself." She mumbled crying.
"Aren't you happy?" I asked her confused now coming out of my feelings.
"I felt... I felt shock and then I got scared." She replied, opening her eyes and I frowned.
"I am not getting you." I said frowning more.
"I... my son Harsha... he was my world. I felt like I do not need anything else when he first said his words that too same like Lakshmi. I thought I would be the best mom that he will never feel anything missing from our lives. I did everything I know and everything I could. Still, when I couldn't get him to choose for staying with me then what can I do with her? What if she hates me? What if even she leaves me like Harsha? Why should I go through all this again to end up in pain?" she asked covering her face.
"I feel foolish to think all this, but at the same time scared." She added and I slowly placed my arms over her shoulders to which she pressed her face to my chest.
"What if Lakshmi starts thinking, when my parents didn't want me then how come it is sure that the new parents would want me forever and not leave me?" I asked calmly and she stilled.
"I will not say that she will never leave you because I too don't know what circumstances may occur and what may happen. But all I can say is if she leaves you then adopt another kid and give all your love. Do that as much as you can because there is a scenario where the kids are having difficulty with the mothers who are unable to love them. So, with your kind of love that may reduce to at least one kid or more." I said rubbing her back and she stopped crying.
"And if there is any chance of hating anyone then that would be me just like her mother." I added and she sighed.
"I know I show my hatred openly. I will try to hide it." She said and I know I should feel hurt but I laughed at her words.
"Now, is it the reason for the agitation for the past few days?" I asked when she moved back.
"Yes! Today she looked a little sad when I kind of backed off. So, I was crying." She replied.
"Please don't make her sad, Jhanvi. If you have anything troubling you, talk to me, but don't do this kind of distancing from her." I said and she nodded.
"I know! It is my mistake." She said, nodding again before moving back to lean on the other side of the couch.
"I think it is a nice thing if you wear this." She added when we sat in silence.
"I know! You feel disgust to look at my face." I said shaking my head.
She shook her head saying, "I was there when she was crying. I was there when she was scared for c-section as she didn't have money. I was there when no one was there with her to see the baby."
"So, I remember all of that whenever I see you." She added, staring at me while I felt my chest constrict.
"I know you took care of me and you even care for Lakshmi. But... but all that is not leaving my head." She mumbled.
"Okay!" I mumbled back and she stared at me.
She moved forward and moved the mask a little before pressing her lips to my cheek for a few seconds before standing up.
"Thank you!" she mumbled and walked away while I smiled, leaning back on the couch.
I stood up to return the mask and stopped near Lakshmi's door to see Jhanvi leaning over her and kissing her forehead to which Lakshmi opened her eyes.
"You are my daughter." Jhanvi said smiling.
"Maa..." Lakshmi mumbled and Jhanvi immediately hugged her while I stood there staring at them. I know I will disturb this perfect picture, so I turned before walking away to my room, but with a smile remembering the perfect picture.
*Ali Pov*
"You all lied to me. You all lied that she will be here." Harsha started shouting at both my Father and me.
"This is not the way for a prince to act." My father scolded him.
"I want my Mom." He screamed more.
"I told you to stay away, but you never listen do you?" I asked my Father and walked towards Harsha.
"We will go tomorrow." I said and he glanced up to stare at me.
"Where?" he asked, frowning.
"To your Mom and we will bring her back." I replied and he immediately hugged me.
"I know you wouldn't lie." He said, moving back and walked away happily.
"You can't bring her back here." My Father said, but I ignored him and walked away to make arrangements for the journey.
*Manohar Pov*
"Oh wow!" Kalpana said, looking at her phone.
"What is it?" I asked, looking at her while smiling at our son.
"There are fifty missed calls from Jay. That's why I told you I will switch it on but you haven't allowed me." She replied frowning.
"My son is always like that. He actually doesn't listen to himself also." Mom said and I shook my head while Kalpana laughed.
"What does he want?" I asked, frowning at her.
"He is not harmful, Manohar." She replied smiling.
"I let the kidnap go, but I asked you not to be in contact with him. Otherwise, I will file the case." I said frowning.
"Then I will release him. And I will talk to him." She said, folding her arms and we both stared at each other.
"You both started it again?" Mom said, but I ignored her.
"Okay! I will leave this, but if I get a call again I will meet him." Kalpana said and I nodded after a few seconds.
"You are a good wife." I said smirking and she hit my leg with hers before looking out of the window.
"One second." I said to our son and moved to sit beside her.
"What?" she asked without turning around.
"I am tired! And just want to sleep." I replied, leaning my head on her shoulder and she immediately placed her hand on my head before patting me.
"It is more than one second." Our son mumbled and Kalpana burst out laughing.
"You come with me." Mom called him and he moved near her to the other side of the plane and I immediately placed my hand over her waist caressing it.
"Hey! Your Mom is just a few steps away." She said, swatting my hand but I ignored it.
"You are my wife." That's all I said while she mumbled 'weird husband'.
