*Jhanvi Pov*

"Jahnvi?" I heard someone calling and turned to see my professor.

"Yes, maam?" I asked smiling.

"Can you do me a favor? I have to meet the head of department but I have a work at the hospital." She requested.

"What should I do?" I asked, smiling, feeling relief that there was no mistake from my side regarding presentation which I thought she will talk about.

"Give these files to Dr.Raj. He wanted me to give him a list of people who can be taken under his wing." She replied and added, "And don't peak."

I chuckled and took the files before leaving the campus and walked a few minutes. I reached the hospital and walked inside.

"Good morning, Jhanvi." Receptionist greeted me and I greeted her back.

I walked to the elevator and reached the floor before knocking on the door. Hearing the reply from the other side, I opened it and walked inside.

"Ah! Jhanvi!" Dr.Raj said with a smile.

I smiled back and placed the files before him. He glanced at the top file before nodding at me.

"So, are you ready to work under my wing?" he suddenly asked making me still.

"She selected me? But you haven't even checked the files." I asked frowning.

"I bet your name must be there. You are part of this hospital and knows everything more than any doctor here. I doubted regarding that when my resident said, but during these few years, I know he is right." He said smiling.

"The perks of being left by your parents at a well thought place." I mumbled shrugging and he shook his head.

"Now, I want you to be here the next day of your exam." He said staring at me.

"But..." I started to say which eh waved off adding, "Go and prepare for your exams."

I sighed and left thinking about his words. Do I really want to work for a Neuro surgeon? Is this the field I want to be in? I asked myself and reached the reception.

"Thank god you are here, Jhanvi. I need your help." The head nurse said when I was about to pass the reception.

"What is it?" I asked her smiling seeing the way a very strict and blank expression person having an irritated look.

"This is kind of little trouble, but I think you may handle it or I hope so." She mumbled.

"What should I do?" I asked for the second time of the day with a very less time difference.

"There is one patient who got hurt today and there is a chance of concussion. But he wishes to leave right now as there were not many injuries except for head and little scratches." She started saying and I nodded gesturing her to continue.

"He needs to be here awake for at least next four hours as per doctor's order." She added before taking a deep breath.

"What should I do?" I asked her frowning, not understanding what can I do with this.

"I have other patients to look after and he is throwing everyone out with his tantrums. So, go and make him stay here at least for two hours." She requested.

"I have to prepare for my exams." I mumbled frowning.

"Oh! I completely forgot. Leave it then, I will think of something." She said and turned back to walk away.

"Wait! I will do it." I said and immediately she turned around with a great full look before dragging me along the corridor literally.

"If you need anything, come out and send someone to me. Stay here for two hours and then you can leave." She said and walked away after I nodded.

I took a deep breath and held the door knob to see the grumpy old man and know what tantrums he will throw at me.

"You are not old." Those are the first words I uttered entering the room.

And then his irritated look turned into a look so harsh that I may have died if I was not standing in a hospital for sure.

I gave him a hesitant smile entering the room and closed the door behind me dragging myself towards the chair near his bed and sat down with my bag on my lap.

*Jay Pov*

"Well, how is she?" I asked the nurse.

"Doctor is coming to check her. Sign these forms, Sir." She said, passing the papers and I stared at them.

"Sign here." She added when I stared at them.

"We have to admit her, Sir. Sign fast!" she added again when I stared at the place she showed.

"You see, I am not her husband." I said and she frowned at me.

"You don't know her? Well, you can leave and we will contact the police." She said nodding and started walking away.

Police? When will they come here and when will the doctor see her? That's why I asked ambulance driver to take us to another hospital and not this small one.

"I am going to be her ex-husband. That's what I wanted to say." I shouted stopping her and she turned around with an irritation before returning towards me with the form and pen.

I wrote her first name which is the only thing I know and signed at the place she asked me before she walked away.

I sat on the chair, placing our both luggage beside me and then tried to call Kalpana again which is now switched off.

Whom should I call? I thought and realized I don't know anyone else number or any address regarding where they live.

But then I know her relatives and immediately removed the thought. The first thing they would do is smash me and that will do no one good at present and they may even think I am lying.

I glanced up to see the doctor walking towards the room, she was taken into and I sighed, thinking at least she will get treatment now.

Then she will wake up soon after which I can leave after she calls someone to come and get here.

I missed the flight and maybe I should take another transport after she wakes up. I leaned back and closed my eyes.

"Mr. Jay?" I heard a voice and opened my eyes to see the doctor looking at me.

"Physically she seems to be fine and even opened her eyes. But I think something else is wrong. We would like to do the CT scan." He said and I immediately nodded.

"I found her like that sitting on the chair without any movement." I said.

"Were you both travelling somewhere?" he asked and I shook my head in negative.

He nodded and walked away while I sat back. And within one hour the people were coming and going.

And then I was summoned to his cabin. I entered holding our luggage and sat before him.

"There is no problem with her brain too. However, we consulted a psychologist and she already examined your wife." He said and I frowned thinking they didn't tell me that.

"What did she say?" I asked him.

"Your wife is in shock, Mr.Jay. She blocked everything else from outside." He replied.

"I don't understand." I said frowning more.

"The doctor will be here soon." He said and I nodded repeating his words.

Shock? Blocked? What happened that she went into shock? I thought and after a few minutes a lady entered nodding at us.

If I was confused before, I am more confused now. She started explaining so much in medical terms and finally sighed.

"She is doing something if we ask her to, but she is not in this world can be said as a figurative speech." She finally said, seeing my expression.

"Well, what is the treatment for her to come back to this world?" I asked her and she frowned.

"Nurse told me that you both are getting separated. Maybe that caused her shock." She mumbled.

"No chance!" I immediately said.

When there is no marriage, then from where shock will come from separation. She stared at me and nodded.

"She can be discharged. Take care of her and bring her to me every week for examination. Don't stress her regarding what happened again and again, otherwise we may lose the little contact we have with her. She may stop responding only." And that way she started instructions.

"But I can't do that." I said, frowning and they both frowned back.

"If she has any other relatives like parents or someone, then call them. However, I would suggest you to be near her, which could trig something snapping her out of this." She said.

"I don't know her relatives." I said sighing.

"What do you want us to do, Mr.Jay?" she asked finally showing the irritation because of my answers and I can understand it.

I closed my eyes and opened them after a minutes saying, "I will take her with me."

They nodded and gave other instructions regarding diet. I left the room to pay the bill and took the discharge papers.

We again left the hospital in the ambulance and reached my home. I got outside and stared at the house thinking just today I decided not to come here again but here I am.

I made them place her in the room present downstairs itself and closed the door behind them. I walked to the door and saw that she is sleeping now.

Well, at least she had dinner already and now I can see how to look after her. I walked away and started climbing the stairs, staring at the door of my mother.

I shook my head and walked inside my room, realizing I am still holding our luggage. I placed them in the corner and laid down on the bed.

What am I doing? How can I be of any help to her? But then again, I may get forgiveness from Kalpana if I take care of her friend.

And maybe something I would be doing well against the all worst things I have done. With that thought I closed my eyes and drifted off into sleep.
