Teamwork and Pranks
Third Person P. O. V.
"Well everyone, I called you here so we could train. More importantly, I would love for Menma to teach you what he knows. Maybe you could benefit from a shinobi like him, seeing as he is practically on par with me" He announced to his genin. Obito was happy as he hoped Menma could teach him something to defeat his rival Kakashi. Rin bowed her head as she said thank you to Menma for doing that. While kakashi only glared as he couldn't trust Menma. He had weaseled his way into everyone's mind, telling them lies to get what he wants. He had spied on them when Menma and Minato were training the other night, and what he saw only raised his suspicion.
"Now, the most important word that a team needs is Teamwork. You guys have zero teamwork, and just do your own thing. In a fight against a S class ninja, you will die doing that. If you go into a war without teamwork, you will die. So we will work on teamwork." Menma's voice was as cold as ice. Minato chuckled nervously, wondering if Menma had met his team. The concept of teamwork was foreign to them. Obito sighed as he began to complain about working with Kakashi, and vice versa. Rin only tried to get them to stop, but they only ignored her. A tic mark formed on Menma's forehead as he was becoming agitated with the team. Maybe this is what kakashi felt like with him, Sasuke, and Sakura.
"Stop! There will be no arguing or I will personally find a punishment for you. Now, the exercise we will be doing is very simple. Minato and I will scatter bomb tags (no clue what there called atm) and you will have to navigate through them using team work. They will be well hidden and you will not be able to see them. But, one of you will get the chance to see where we place them, and remember so you can get through with no problems. If you fail, you'll be blown up" Menma said with a sadistic smile plastered on his face. Obito's mouth dropped to the ground, as well as Rin's. Even Kakashi had a bit of fear in his eyes as could possibly kill them when training. He only hoped it was him that was picked to memorize where the tags were and not his teammates.
"But Menma-san! This could possibly kill us, and you know our teamwork is terrible. We aren't ready for something like this, and we probably never will be. We couldn't even handle the bell test, so how could we possibly do this?" Obito asked as he tried to reason with Menma. Naruto wondered if this was how he acted when he was younger on team 7. He could now understand why people found him annoying as he did complain a lot. Rin tried to come Obito down, as she didn't want Menma to punish him for disobeying orders. Menma wanted to take pity on them, he really did. But the fact that the 4th Great Ninja war started because of those 3, made him give it everything he had.
"Shut up! You are to listen to what i have to say, and that is final. And because you want to disagree with my teachings, you will be the one to memorize where the tags are. Let's hope you have a photographic memory, for your team's sake" He said. Kakashi almost argued with why Obito was a terrible choice, but he bit his tongue seeing as it would get him no where. Minato was oddly calm the entire time, not saying a word about Menma's methods. He knew his team could accomplish this seeing as their lives literally depended on it. Menma blindfolded Kakashi and Rin, then he lead them away from the training grounds. Obito gulped as he tried to take everything in, so at least Rin wouldn't get hurt.
"Now pay close attention Obito, as we set the tags down. Once we are down they will become invisible, and you won't be able to sense them. But seeing you're an Uchiha and have the sharingan, this should be no problem" Menma said in a rather taunting voice. Obito frowned as he hadn't awakened the Sharingan yet. Minato and Menma pulled out the tags from their weapon pouches, and began to set them down. They weren't going slow at all, but rather at a pace Obito could barely keep up with. His eyes moved from side to side, trying to catch were both were laying the tags down. His head began to hurt as Menma and Minato picked up the pace, causing him to miss a few spots they had set the tags down in. Once they were finished, both shunshin away from the training are, and back to Obito.
"Well Obito, it is time for me to gather your teammates and see if you did a good job. If you live through this you will most likely remember to never disagree with me. Because if you hadn't said anything, I would've picked Kakashi instead of you" Menma said. Obito felt even worse as he would the reason any of them got hurt because he couldn't remember where the damn explosive tags were. Menma vanished as he went to get his teammates, and the reappeared right next to him. The blindfolds had been removed, and he could clearly see the worry in their eyes. They all knew he wasn't the most observant ninja, and this just added on to the fact they were in a bad situation.
"Now, get to the other side as quick as possible using teamwork. If you fail to use teamwork, and manage to get to the other side I will make this test harder. And we will continue to do it until I am satisfied. Teamwork is the most important thing we shinobi need. And never forget that. When I say begin, your training starts" Menma finished. Kakashi rolled his eyes as he didn't believe a word Menma said. He couldn't trust a stranger who had a stone with names on it, and his name as well. A man who seemed to be on par with his sensei, and had a strange habit of knowing too much was someone he could not trust. And the fact he had that strange memory of an older him and Menma. They were connected, and the feeling kept gnawing at him. He felt so many emotions when he was with Menma, and he hated it. He felt so vulnerable around Menma.
"Begin!"

Kakashi watched the blonde from a distance. The boy was in his apartment making instant ramen. He wondered how Naruto could live off of only ramen, and not get sick of it. Of course that was the only thing he could afford. He felt bad for not taking care of the blonde, or even trying to help him out at least. After all, he was the son of his sensei. Which may have been why he didn't want to be around him as it was the constant reminder of what he had failed to do. He let his teammates die, and his sensei along with his wife. But he promised he would never let the blonde die, as he was important to him. Thankfully, Naruto was put in his team along with the Uchiha boy and a girl. Kakashi decided he would pay Naruto a little visit.
"Oi, Naruto! You shouldn't eat only ramen ya know. You need vegetables and healthy foods to make you grow. Which would explain why your the shortest out of the team" Kakashi said with an eye smile. Naruto almost chocked on his ramen seeing as he didn't sense Kakashi coming through his window, and uninvited as well. Kakashi took the time to walk around Naruto's apartment, wondering if anything had changed since his last visit. There weren't any ramen cups like last time, or anything on the floor. He opened the fridge to see no rotten foods, or sour milk. It seemed Naruto had actually cleaned up after himself for once.
"Sensei, what are you doing here? I didn't even invite you or anything. Is something wrong?" his voice was not loud, nor annoying. It was mixed with confusion and worry seeing as Kakashi rarely acknowledged him. Kakashi was a bit hurt by his words, as he realized he rarely talked to the boy, let alone visit him. He sighed and shook his head, showing nothing was wrong. The blonde let out a breath he was holding in, happy that nothing bad had happened, and continue to eat his ramen. But he was rather curious as to why Kakashi visited him. He assumed Kakashi didn't like him because he was a demon, and he hurt others.
"I just came to say hello, seeing as I was in the area. I wanted to make sure everything was okay and all" Kakashi said nonchalantly. Naruto smiled when Kakashi said he wanted to make sure he was okay. Not many people cared about his well being, and rarely did anyone check up on him. Except for his Jiji, and that was it. Seeing Naruto smile made him think of Obito, as it seemed to have the affect of making him want to smile. He wondered if a bit of Obito was in Naruto, seeing as they had so many similarities. They were the stupid ones that nobody took seriously, but in the end they would do anything for their comrades. And they both had that dream of becoming Hokage.
"Can I get you anything Sensei? I don't have much but it's the least i can do for you seeing as you stopped by and all" Naruto's voice was low, but you could clearly hear his happiness. Kakashi mumbled water as he didn't want to be a bother for Naruto. The blonde smiled as he hopped up from his chair to go fetch a glass of water for his sensei. Kakashi could clearly see Kushina in him. He had the personality of his mother, the looks of his father, and the dreams of Obito. Kakashi couldn't help but smile as it seemed those he lost, weren't really gone. Naruto rushed back with the glass of water, holding it out for Kakashi to take.
"I won't look sensei. I'll turn around and you can drink the water. But I swear that one day I will see your face, believe it!" Naruto said with a goofy grin as he turned around. Kakashi was surprised that Naruto had taken his privacy into consideration as the boy rarely did that. He pulled down his mask and drank the water. For some reason, this water tasted amazing. It was weird seeing water had no flavor, but he liked this water more then anything. He tilted his head back as he gulped every last drop, trying to savor it but failing. He honestly had no idea how or why this water tasted so amazing. He put his mask back on, and told Naruto he could turn around.
"Weirdly enough Naruto, this water tasted pretty good. I must thank you for your hospitality, but I must go now. I will see you tomorrow for training, which will be teamwork. Ja ne" Kakashi said as he began to head towards the window. He could've used the front door like a normal person, but that was too far away. He may have been the famous copy cat ninja, but he was still lazy when off duty. Before he could jump out of the window, a hand yanked at his vest. He turned to see Naruto, who had a devious smirk on his face. Kakashi knew all to well that he had something up his sleeve.
"Before you go Kakashi sensei, I wanted to tell you something. That water your drank," he paused, causing Kakashi's eyes to widen as realization hit him," was toilet water!"

"Rin! Go to the left! Kakashi, jump!" Obito said as he and his comrades ran through the tags. So far they had set off 2 which caused a chain reaction of 4. Kakashi barely jumped in enough time to escape the explosion. Rin moved to the left as she tried to avoid being next to her teammates seeing as they were the very cause of the chain explosion. Menma could only watch in amusement as they were so close to finishing and completing the training. Of course he had his doubts about training them seeing as the would never be able to work together, but here they were. Of course it wasn't the best teamwork they could've produced, it was still better then nothing. Minato was quite happy as he saw Obito carrying rin to the finishing point, Kakashi right next to them.
"We've finished Minato-sensei, Menma-san" Kakashi said as he tried to act like the training didn't faze him. Obito smiled as he let Rin down, happy that the raining was over. Menma smiled at them, and it was a mischievous smile. The blonde walked to where the tags were, and began to walk through them. Team Minato could only watch in horror as all of the tags began to set off, and they couldn't see where Menma was. Kakashi cried out in what his teammates could only describe as pain. His eyes began to glisten as water filled them, and his chest felt as if it was constricting. His breathing was off, and it felt as if his world was going to cave in. Why had Menma doing such a thing had an affect that great on him? Could it be he thinks of him as a friend? Maybe...
"Well that's amazing you guys. I honestly would have failed, but I stand corrected. Although I never put you guys in any real danger as the bomb tags are all fake. They have been altered so that they release an allusion, genjutsu basically. What you saw as the ground being blown up from tags, was nothing more then a trick. So think of this as a prank" Menma said, his mischievous smile still plastered on his face. Kakashi looked at Menma, his mind told him to hug Menma and punch him. He wiped away the tears that managed to escape, and calmed his breathing down. Minato appeared by Menma's side, smiling as he was in on the so called prank. Obito was frustrated as he had been under a lot of pressure to keep his teammates alive, and all for a stupid prank. Menma was absolutely insane.
"Are you serious? You decide to make us run through bomb tags, and fear for our lives. Only to find out that the tags were genjutus, and called it a prank. You're sadistic and not right in the head, Menma! And what about my name on the stone? What about these stupid things I see of me older with another person?! All of this has started happening since you were here, and I hate it! Just leave!" Kakashi screamed at Menma. Menma walked over to Kakashi, and pulled him into a hug. It took a lot of will power to not break younger kakashi's neck for being so damn annoying, but that would mean older Kakashi would be dead. So he had to take the good for the bad. When he got back, Kakashi better be kissing his feet.
"I'm not sorry. My team died going to war. But before that we hated each other and never used teamwork. Because of that one of use defected, the other became a medic to prove her worth, and I had to face my demon. And the only time we worked together, was when we were in a life or death situation. So I'm not sorry that I tricked you, because you'll always be in those situations... And you need teamwork" Menma said as he let go of Kakashi. For once, the boy had no words. Menma had once again hugged him, and he didn't fight the hug. It was as if he was changing, and everything he was taught was changing. And it was for the better, but change was scary. Menma smiled as he mumbled a good job before disappearing.
"Great job Kakashi, you made him sad. All he wants is for us to be a team, and live to have grandchildren. But you want to go against everything he says. Even I know when to obey him, and when to rebel a little." Obito said as he ran off after Menma. Rin smiled weakly at Kakashi, before she too chased after Menma. That left him and Minato alone. He didn't understand why his sensei would even have Menma on his team. He had so many secrets, and they seemed to be doing more harm then good. The more questions he got, the less answers he received. Menma was a threat to Kakashi, because he was exposing a weak side he never wanted to show.
"You might want to listen to Obito on that one, Kakashi. Because if you keep this up, it'll make it seem like you have a crush on him" Minato said. Kakashi opened his mouth to say something, but instantly closed his mouth. Minato raised an eyebrow at Kakashi, wondering what he was going to say. Kakashi shunshined away from Minato, leaving the blonde alone. He chuckled as he thought of the fact Kakashi didn't try to deny what he had said, or even go against it. He had simply shut up as if in defeat.
It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm trying to come up with ideas, and it's hard. But it's even harder trying to get motivation lol. I'm planning on having Team Minato go out on more missions, and even have some combat thrown in here. I'm trying to figure out what should happen to the characters and all. So please be patient. I tried to make a more amusing chapter then a sad one, and I think i succeeded. So I almost updated every story I have except for Carnivore which I need to do. But I have no motivation at all. Thanks for 1k reads and over 200 votes! This book only has 9 chapters and to have that many votes is amazing. Well, bye everyone.
