The wedding

Disha's POV:

It was only three days left for the wedding and I took 2 weeks off from my office starting today, that's the best I could get since I am heading 2 of the biggest projects our company handles.

Today was the mehandi and sangeet function, our parents planned all the ceremonies together hence both groom and bride side relatives and friends were made to stay in the same hotel as the ceremonies were supposed to take place.

I was getting ready in my hotel room when Rhea came in. She squealed in excitement.

"Oh my god Disha. You are looking so beautiful. Shourya is going to forget his name."

"Shut up and help me with this dupatta."

"Oh sorry. Let me fix it for you."

"Thanks"

"Disha I am so happy for you. Oh My God I don't believe you are getting married."

I smiled at her, I knew she was happy like everyone else. I was not sure what I was feeling so I decided to only reply with a smile to everyone who talked about it.

Soon I was called to enter the hall where all the family and guests were waiting. I walked into the hall with the help of Rhea. I saw him sitting on one of the two big chairs placed at the center of the hall.

He was dressed in a blue sherwani kurta and pajama looking very dashing. His perfect smile was decorating his face even more.

He was surrounded by his friends including Rohan and some of his cousins.

He looked at me and our eyes locked for a brief second before I looked down.

Shourya's POV:

I looked at her entering the hall, she looked like an angel, a beautiful angel dressed in a Plush green saree and a Red dupatta covering her head. She was made to sit beside me. I wanted to hold her hand, kiss her. But I shrugged the thought since it will be weird.

The mehendi artist came and took her hands in their hands. They started put mehendi on her hands. Her cousins and my cousins were all dancing on various songs but I seldom paid attention, all my attention was on the beautiful angel sitting beside me.

Disha looked happy, she was smiling and enjoying the dance performances her cousins were performing.

Suddenly I heard Rhea and Rohan announcing Disha's name for a dance performance. I looked at her surprised. She looked at me and winked.

She walked gracefully to the stage with her hands half painted with mehendi. the song started Navrai Majhi, Rhea and one of Disha's sisters started the performance welcoming Disha on the stage.

As soon as she entered the stage the song changed to  Nachde ne saare. She danced so beautifully that I was mesmerized by her moves. By the end of her performance my jaw was on the floor.

When her dance was about to end our friends and cousins dragged me to the stage too to dance with her and suddenly the music changed to a slow song Tum hi ho.

I held her by her waist hesitantly and she placed her hands on my neck shyly. Thankfully her henna was dry by now.

We didn't look at each other in eyes, although I wanted to but it was all too new and sudden for both of us especially her. We both looked everywhere but each other.

After the awkward dance performance we went back to where we were seated earlier and our families did some more dancing before the evening was called off.

Disha's POV:

Today is the wedding day and I am so freaking nervous. I have always loved weddings and dreamed about mine since childhood but now that  I am actually getting married I feel weird.

Shourya is nice but I still feel nervous with the thought we will be spending rest of our lives with each other. Well I was lost in my thoughts when Mom came in my room.

"Hey Sweetie, you have to get ready. Its time now."

"Mom, wedding is in the evening, its just 9:00 AM. I need some sleep, I couldn't sleep properly last night."

"I know sweetie it happens to everyone of us."

"Did you felt nervous too? Did you too felt confused?"

"These feelings are normal darling, they are called wedding jitters. Don't worry you will be fine."

"But Mom I am scared. I and Shourya, we.." I was cut of by my mom.

"You and Shourya will be great. Just don't push yourself or him away and I am sure you two will get along just fine. I know you guys don't realize what we can see, but let me assure you, soon you will be thanking us for arranging this for you both." Mom said as she patted my cheeks.

"I hope so, if not I will be here eating your head all my life."

"Shut up Dishu, Now quickly get ready we have to finish some rituals before the actuall wedding ceremony. I have kept a yellow Saree for you please wear that.

"Okay mom"

I got ready in the saree and most of the day went by me finishing various rituals and meeting Shaourya's Grandparents and family.

At 5:00 PM I started to get ready for the wedding, I was already tired by now, I wasnt sure how I was going to pull through the wedding.

I wore my Red Lehenga Choli along with the heavy jewelry my mom chose for me. I was wearing hands full of bangles (Chuda) and there were few Kalirein attached to one of the bangles which were put on me this morning in one of the rituals.

Ughh this is all so heavy, why do they have to put so much jewelry and heavy dress on a bride? Can't they understand a bride gets tired with all these rituals.

Yes I dreamed of my wedding but I always imagined myself wearing simple dress, simple jewelry. Anyways I was just cursing in my mind when they called me.

Shourya's POV:

I was seated in a fancy sofa at the center of the hall with my friends and cousins when I saw her. She was waking slowly towards me, she was wearing a beautiful Red color Lehanga Choli with red duppata over her head. She looked as the most beautiful bride anyone can see. Dressed in that red traditional attire she looked like a fairy angel.

I couldn't help but stare at her, she looked up at me and our eyes locked for a very short while then she looked down again. Her cousins and Riya were walking with her bringing her to me.

When she reached close to me I moved ahead and stretched my hand to help her walk till the sofa. She took my hand gracefully with a sweet and shy smile.

I couldn't believe if this was the same Disha I know since my childhood. The Disha I know was always fierce with the least bit of shyness, I teased her to be a man a lot. But today she was so girly, beautiful and shy, completely opposite to what he always thought of her.

We were facing each other and performing all the rituals needed for the ceremony to reach its end. After 2 hours of performing rituals we took blessings from elders.

After taking blessings from the elders it was time for our departure to my, sorry our home. After a warm welcome from my family and friends we were sent to my, our room.

Room was decorated with flowers and candles giving it a romantic ambience, a little weird for us since we were not one of those usual couples.

I looked at Disha, she looked tired and a little uncomfortable.

"Disha Are you okay?" I asked

"Umm actually no. This dress and jewellery is all very heavy and I am tired. Dont know how girls like to wear such heavy stuff casually."

"Hahah I can only imagine. Why don't you change into something more casual."

"Yeah I need that really." She said as she rolled her eyes.

She took some clothes from her suitcase and went into bathroom to change.

I removed all the flower petals from the bed and took out another quilt from the cupboard.

She came out of the bathroom in her casual pajamas.

I took the extra quilt and pillow and placed it on the sofa in the room.

"Who is sleeping on the Sofa?"

"I will don't worry. You can sleep on the bed. I wont bother you."

"Shourya, we are now going to share our lives together, we can share a bed too."

"Are you sure?"

"Dont worry Shourya, I won't rape you."

"Seriously Disha? You want me to stay as a gentleman or not? Are you trying to hint me to do something?"

"Shut up Shourya and lets sleep." She hit my arm playfully.

We moved to our sides of bed and slept as soon as we turned off the lights.
