Ch.5 - Melemele Island

"Welcome to Hau'oli City." The boats speaker run out in a deafening inaudible tone that I doubt anyone was really paying attention too. "Thank you for traveling with S.S. Rose Mary."

I tugged feverishly as the cousins shirt. "There it is Chrome!" I beamed. "We're about to set foot in Alola!"

"You've been to Alola before Harmony, like 28 times." Chrome sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"46." I corrected. "Give or take a few... but it's different this time, this time I'm a full fledged trainer!"

Chrome rolled his eyes, readjusting his glasses with a sigh. "You're not a full fledged trainer yet, we gotta see the island Kahuna first. You'll get your Trainer License off him and possibly a starter Pokémon but you have two Pokémon already so you may not qualify."

"Frost doesn't count. She's purely for protection and falls under the spirit category of protective Pokémon in the Purity's law enacted by Mum 20-something years ago." I recited matter-of-factly. "I'm am not to use her in formal battle unless she is included in my roster of 6."

My elder cousin readjusted his glasses, peering down at me quite amused. "How long have you been waiting to recite all that?"

"Too long but Mum always made sure I had that stuff memorised. Some Regions governments are still against 'gifted' individuals but not Alola, it hold traditional values including respecting those selected by Legendary Pokémon to carry their strength so I shouldn't have that to worry about." I explained as we exited the ferry. "But you know what Mum is like."

Chrome nodded simply, looking over the dock. "Yeah, now... we're supposed to be meeting up with some Lulu kid who will take us to Iki Town to meet with Hala who will be presenting you with your Trainer ID as organised by Aunty Emma with your special seal on it."

"Seal?" I questioned, this is the first I'd heard of it.

With an irritated sigh Chrome rolled his eyes. "Special mark on you ID to help keep you safe."

I sighed deeply, although I shouldn't be surprised. After the hardships of my Mums childhood, she wants to keep me safe which she always has. Yes it's annoying but I simply let it be, she loves me and she doesn't hide it it's how my Mum is. Mum is Mum and I love her regardless of her over protective nature.

"So..." I began, leaning forward slightly with a goofy smile.

"No you're not exploring on your own." Chrome responded firmly, knowing me better than any one.

I spun around, standing in front of my cousin with my hands clasp together. "C'mon! Half an hour tops!"

"Nope." He replied, shaking his head as he glanced down at his phone before around the surrounding area.

"Party pooper!" I huffed, glaring up at the red head.

Rolling his eyes, Chrome again shook his head. "Call me what you want, no is no!"

Stamping my foot I pouted playfully. "You're not my dad."

With a smirk of amusement, Chrome looked down at me, readjusting his glasses as he did. "Your dad would say the same thing, as would your mum and my dad and my mum and Aunty Anne and Nan, need I continue?"

"None of you are any fun!" I huffed

A nudge by my foot caught my attention, looking down I spied Frost looking up at me with her pale lavender eyes. "I must regrettably inform you that your cousin is correct." Frost pipped, flicking her floofy curls. "Staying close to your cousin is the the safest option."

"My cousin has a name." I informed my fluffy little guardian.

Rolling her eyes, Frost Flower puffed up a little. "I am aware that all humans are given a name at birth as you named me with my creation, but his name is of little importance to me there for not relevant for me to remember." Frost flicked her head away.

Chrome sighed deeply, pushing his glasses back up his nose. "Whatever, Harmony, I'm going to find Lulu - if you're not in the Pokémon Centre in 15 minutes I'm telling your mum you ran off."

"Deal!" I cried out, running off. "See you soon."

"Childish." I heard my cousin before I bounded off too far to hear him.

Bounding around the city the way I was - in much a similar fashion to a newborn filly - It didn't take long for me to bump into someone in quite a literal fashion. The girl, who couldn't be much older then me fell over but I managed to stay standing. Frost perked up, having been trailing at me heel, assessing the situation for danger.

"Sorry about that..." I smiled mareepishly at the girl.

"I-it's fine..." The girl mumbled, her brow furrowing as she examined the skin deep graze on her palms. "Nothing serious, just a graze." She looked up at me studying, seemingly startled by my appearance as she looked me up and down.

"I'm Harmony." I smiled brightly. "Harmony Fire." My introduction was only followed by silence from the other girl who shifted slightly as if uncomfortable. "And you are?"

"Oh... My n-name... well my name is... my name is Dusk..." The girl stammered shyly, tucking a lock of crisp white hair behind her ear. "Dusk Yūgure..."

Dusk gently dusted off her shirt, a plain grey tank top - seemingly worn out or second hand - an intricately designed flower blooming in the centre. Her shorts seemed a single size too big for the girl, made of denim

Frost cocked her head aside as she pounced into my arms. "You have a funny aura... It is good but it is bad."My little Vulpix frowned deeply. "I do not like it Harmony."

The girl blushed deeply, shying away. "I-I guess I'll just go then..." Dusk replied, her red eyes flicking away nervously.

"No, it's fine, Frost Flower doesn't like many people at all." I explained, glaring down at my guardian. "Don't take anything she says to heart, she doesn't even use most my families names."

Dusk nodded softly, hugging herself tightly she seemed nervous and out of place - fidgeting with her hair, her clothes or anything really. She kept ducking her head or flicking her eyes in seemingly random directions.

Cocking my head to the side, I shifted my Vulpix in my arms. "Are you okay?" I inquired as I observed the other trainer.

"Me? I'm erm- fine, I don't get out much..." She replied, scratching her chin. "I was homeschooled and not much of an... out doors person."

"Are you a Pokémon trainer?" I asked, looking for signs of a Pokéball.

Dusk blinked before shyly nodding her head. "I guess so... I have a Pokémon but I've never really battled before..."

"First time for everything." I smiled, pulling Floe's ball from my belt. "Wanna try it out?"

"Oh I could never ever do that to Missy!" Dusk exclaimed, resting her hand on her bag with an alert expression before looking down with a guilty sigh. "Although, I guess I should train her... her mother has a nac for battles."

I cocked my head to the side, shifting Frost in my arms. "What Pokémon is Missy?"

"She's a Misdreavus." Dusk explained softly. "B-but she's the only Pokémon I own right now."

"Are you getting a starter?"

"N-no... I don't think so... My father says I'm not ready... I-I'd quite like a- well I think that Rowlet i-is cute." Dusk explained, hugging herself. "I'm quite fond of Ghost-Type Pokémon..."

"Really, that's pretty cool, I don't have a favourite type..." I explained, looking down at Frost. "Although I do seem to have a nac for raising Fairy-Type Pokémon. I'd help my mum all the time."

Dusk nodded softly, checking the time on her wrist watch. "I-I should be going, I did not ask my father to leave before I did and if he comes before me then he will be most disappointed in my behaviour." She began to turn around with a wave. "Goodbye and thank you for the chat, perhaps if we meet again we can battle."

"Yeah, bye." I watched her walk off for a moment before turning the other way. "Want a Malasada Frosty?"

"You are aware I do not like that form of addressment Harmony, please refer to me only by the full name I was given or by the shortened form 'Frost'... Although a malasada does sound appealing."

"What's with the formal speech Frost?" I chuckled. Frost Flower did have a formal manner of speaking but this was over the top.

"I must speak formally to be taken seriously."

I burst out laughing. "Since when has that ever worked?"

"My mentor told me."

"Since when was Night a reliable source of information. She would brag about setting lakes on fire, how is that even possible!?"

"That I know for a matter of fact happened, Arceus told me personally about her antics in her younger years."

"I won't believe it until I see it." I rolled my eyes as I pushed open the door to my favourite Malasada store.

Frost Flower simply sighed, jumping from my arms to inspect the display cabinet. "That one is mine." She said, pointing to a fresh Malasada with a pale purple filling.

"You could ask."

"You already asked me if I wanted one, I want that one." Frost demanded.

I sighed deeply, placing my order for the Malasada Frost wanted, one for me and another I thought Floe would love. After paying, I broke off a chunk of Frost Flower's, throwing it down to my Vulpix before letting Floe out of her ball, giving her the Malasada before she could begin whining about why it took so long for me to let her out.

Beginning my way over to the Pokémon Centre, I bit into my Malasada before throwing anything chunk down to Frost Flower. I decided it best to head to the Pokémon Centre, not wanting to risk making my elder cousin mad on our first day.

~This thing tastes funny.~ Floe muttered, tossing her head as she shoved the last of it into her mouth. ~Next time get the blue one.~

"I thought you'd like the pink one Floe." I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Next time I won't even bother!"

Floe grumbled inaudibly for a moment before sighing. ~The effort was appreciated Momo, can I choose next time?~

"Sure, Malasada's are a popular snack here so we can try them all eventually if you really want to."

~I would like that...~ Flow smiled, twirling around happily. ~It's funny how we're still in an environment much like home yet it feels so different!~

"We're in a different part of the world Floe, of course it feels different." I rolled my eyes. "We're further north, it's warmer here then home."

~Oh...~ Floe frowned. ~Why?~

"I dunno, I read it online." I shrugged, catching sight of my cousin and waving at him until he caught sight of me, checking his watch as he did. Ha! I only took 10 minutes. Plenty of time.

Chrome gestured at the girl he was standing with. "Harmony, this is Lulu, she will guide us to Iki Town."

I returned Floe to her Pokéball as I smiled brightly. "Hi--"

Before I could say another word I was abruptly cut off by Lulu shoving a piece of palate in my face. "Can I have your autograph!?" Her medium length yellow hair bounced wildly from her sideswept ponyta tai.

"I'm not famous. Are you confusing me for my mother?" I asked, backing up a little in shock. Frost huffed, narrowing her eyes into a glare.

"No, you're not famous yet but you will be!" Lulu exclaimed, green eyes ablaze. "After all with your mothers strength, you're sure to follow in her footsteps, right Harmony-san!"

I frowned a little but sighed as I took the paper. I didn't want to just be known as 'The great and powerful Emma's kid' - as much as I love me Mum. There was just something that never appealed to me about following her footsteps to fame and power. She had her path and I needed to find mine by myself. With a sigh of disinterest I signed the paper, handing it back to Lulu before turning to Chrome. "What next oh wise cousin of mine?"

Sorry if this chapter feels a bit rushed...
We now have Dusk Yūgure introduced (I have to change the name of Thomas's Umbreon in 'Star Struck' yet again!) She will be one of the 5 new major characters in the book (Harmony and Chrome are included in this) leaving 2 more to introduce.

(I will make a better image for Dusk when I have time to edit her eyes red but Dusk's eyes are red okay!)
