Ch.1 - Travel arrangements
"We should head home now." Frost advised, standing to her feet and shaking out her snowy pelt. "If we stay much longer, your mother will get worried and I will be in trouble from my mentor."
Chrome nodded in agreement. "Yeah, dad would kill me if I left you out here after dark." My older cousin pushed his red framed glasses hanging upon his nose as he looked at me sideways will his darkened purple eyes.
Like me, Chrome seemed to be a perfect split between qualities of his mother and father. His red hair was much darker then Uncle Silvers but still bright in colour he wore it shorter then his father does but still longer then most boys I've seen. Like his father he was quite tall for his age, being 14, and although quite lanky he was also muscular. His dark purple eyes came from Aunty Destiny, although they have traces of silver when looked at from a certain light, a trait I'd always found fascinating. His facial features quite resembled his mother, except he didn't get her freckles. He also seemed to get much of his personality from her apart from his enjoyment of being super protective over me as well as his enjoyment of annoying me which Mum said comes from Silver since he still acts that way towards her despite being a grown up. Although unlike either of his parents, Chrome was short sighted which is why he wears glasses.
I huffed, not wanting to leave the serenity of the bay but complied to my guardian angel and cousins wished. "Over protective poops." I muttered beneath my breath, not even attempting to hide it from them.
"Heard that." Chrome smiled, ruffling my beetle black hair. "But get used to it short stack, it's going to be that way for a long, long time."
Rolling my eyes, I shifted Frost in my arms slightly. Despite the fact it didn't particularly please me, my elder cousin was right. At this time, there is only three candidates for being the Voice of Purity. My mum (the current Voice of Purity), myself and my Aunty Anne. As my mum's closest blood relative, being her daughter, I was next in line and my mum didn't try to hide how protective she was over that fact. I'd been in self defence classes since I could crawl and spent the past two years under rigorous training to help me gain control of powers. My mum had asked me to choose three elements to focus on, the only exception of which was Dark as it had been a hard element for her to learn and thought it would be too much for me to begin on. Defence wasn't the only factor in which my mother used to ensure my safety. When I was still just a baby, she moved away from Johto where she used to live and built a town on one of a small group of unpopulated islands which she had dubbed Legacy Isle. The population of this little island was kept low, specifically to keep me safely away from the public, even if she wouldn't admit it. Only those who had beaten the stand in champions of every region could step foot on the island to challenge her and become world champion, she had yet to loose. Mum would say that the security measures taken were because she'd made a lot of enemies in the past and a lot of people out there would take their anger towards her out on me and she wasn't willing to take that risk. So, Legacy Isle was born. It was very exclusive to get on the island, let alone live here. My whole family did, or at least all the family I knew.
Chrome's family lived here, being his mother's parents and of course his parents. Same went for my father parents and family. Aunty Anne had a house here too but she was rarely here, she had some sort of falling out with my mother years ago. Uncle Silver had taken mum's side and now I only really saw her on special occasions like my birthday, she always gave me the most exotic gifts every time we saw her. She and my mother never spoke but she wasn't shut out of the family completely.
"I'm going to go home now, see you tomorrow?" Chrome questioned as we entered town.
I nodded, shoving my hands into my pocket. "Most likely. See ya late Feraligatr~!"
My cousin simply ruffled up my beetle black hair. "In a while Totodile."
Leaving my cousin behind, I wandered home. With how small the town was, it was impossible for me to get lost. My home was built to be a comfortable place for my family, not with anything more then what we needed, despite the income my mum made with her job governing the 7 major regions in the world, she kept just enough to keep our family comfortable and used the rest to improve other regions and charities.
Entering through the front door, I waited for Frost to enter in behind me before shutting and locking the front door. My home had a somewhat beach like feel, the walls painted with an array of whites and blues with plain white or light wood furnishings. It was a comfortable and calming environment to live in and I'd always loved it, living by the ocean all my life and having that drawn inside was just something I'd always loved about my home. The serenity of the decor was severed however by arguing coming from the lounge room. I kicked off my sneakers before picking up Frost Flower and venturing to listen to what was going on.
My mother was the first voice I heard and drew in my attention when she mentioned my name. "Do you think I enjoy keeping Harmony stuck on the island? Every kid should get to travel but with Kathrine out there, who knows what could happen Silver!? She could do to her what she did to me, that broke me, who knows what it would do to Harmony. She doesn't have the same mental strength I had, she wouldn't last nearly as long and I doubt Kathrine would take that into consideration." My mum hissed as I peeked into the room. "Harmony's getting restless, all the kids her age are traveling but I don't feel safe letting her travel on her own."
"Emma, that's what I asked Chome to come back, he's been traveling for the past three years, his Pokémon are strong. He can keep her safe..." Uncle Silver responded, he was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
Mum shook her head sharply. "I could hardly stand up to her, how do you expect Chrome to? They're just kids."
"She doesn't use the corrupted Pokémon she used to, recent sightings all state that her Pokémon may be strong but they're normal Pokémon." Silver replied, shrugging his shoulders. "Kathrine is much less of a threat then what she used to be, I've been head to head with her uncorrupted Team and won."
"You've also been using the same team since you were 12." Mum responded with a slight glare. "I'm just unsure if she's ready... If I'm ready to let her go."
"We have company." Night stated, raising her head and looking at me from my hiding place. "Come out young Voice."
I stepped out from behind the door, knowing I'd been caught eavesdropping. "Err, hi Mum, Dad and Uncle Silver..."
Mum frowned, wincing slightly. "How long have you been home?" She didn't sound mad.
"Not long..." I replied, hugging Frost tightly as the eyes of my parents and Uncle settled on me.
My mum wasn't happy with my answer, evident by the look in her eyes. "How much did you hear?"
Biting on the tip of my tongue, I hung my head to avoid meeting the adults eyes. "Not much... Just about someone named Kathrine and I'm assuming she's dangerous and the reason I'm not aloud to travel is because you're afraid she'll do something to me..."
The grow ups kinda shared a look, Uncle Silver gave a nod to my Mum, followed by my father which my mother sighed to. "Come here baby, we need to talk." Mum said softly, gently taping the lounge opposite her.
"Am I in trouble?" I questioned, lowering my head as I sat down. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop."
"No, not at all Harmony, I just... think you're ready know about this." My mother responded somewhat dismissively.
She remained quite for a few minutes before she began. "Now, as you know, I have... a complicated history with my parents." Mum started, waiting for me to nod before she continued. "My father, Cyrus, has been in jail for years and generally isn't a problem anymore with the exception of every now and then when I need to go down to the high security remote island prison he's locked up on because he has some new insane idea about his perfect world he will not stop rambling on about, but my mother..." She cut herself off, I noticed her hands were shaking. I've never seen my mother so afraid before, I knew she was scared of the dark but other then that, I'd always seemed very much fearless. "She hurt me a lot... in ways I thought no one could. She's still out there Harmony, that's why I've not given you permission to go on a journey yet. I'm scared of her going after you."
My father sat next to my mother, wrapping an arm around her and holding her close. "It took me years to get over that stuff, physically and mentally, it took me months just to be able to walk straight again." My mother sighed softly, shaking her head slightly. Dad took her hand, squeezing it softly in support.
"If you don't mind me asking... what did she do to you?" I questioned.
I knew Cyrus was abusive towards my mother when she was a child and used to beat her from a very young age resulting in my mother becoming guarded and almost obsessed with the strength of herself and her Pokémon before meeting the friends and family she has now. I was never given details, though I'm too sure I'd want them, I was just told it had happened after her mother walked out on their family when mum was 5 years old. I'd never been told anything more about her other then at one point she had done something really bad to my mother and father, uncle Silver and my aunty Anne a few years after. Emma and Aunty Anne were both adopted by Clair, who I call Nan despite not actually being related to her (although she is mum's legal guardian and closest thing she has to a real mother so I've always veiled her as my grandma). Since Silver was all but an adult at the time (A/N an adult in Australia is 18 years old since that is what I know I'm going off that) he had moved in but hadn't been officially adopted like my Mum and Aunt. Needless to say, my parents had very complex relationships with their parents since I knew that my mum, aunt and uncle all had different fathers as well, all of which have been in jail since before I was born.
My mother sighed deeply, closing her eyes and seemingly lost in thought.
"You don't have to say..." I added quickly, knowing without a doubt it was a sore spot.
Mum opened her eyes and smiled softly. "No, I'm just trying to think of a way of saying it without creating too many more questions..." She explained. "Kathrine, my mother, ran a series of... experiments on me. She used Red and Silver as hostages to force me into compliance and had created a device that blocked out my powers when they weren't necessary. When she was done, I had about two months worth of pent up emotions forced out of me at once after she made me believe she'd killed Silver... since our powers are linked directly with our emotions, it was already a lot of energy. She also injected a serum into me that further amplified my power. I later discovered that it was created with a few different mixtures of 'dark' ingredients, including an extract of certain chemicals from The Voice of Darkness. Needless to say it was over kill and I blew the whole place up while tearing a rift between dimensions."
Frowning slightly, I had a name come to mind. "Shadow right?"
After nodded, my mother continued. "Yes Shadow. The result of me unleashing so much energy at once created a rift between the Legendary Council and Earth. I managed to close it but fell into a coma for five months afterwards since my physical and spiritual selves were unable to cope with the about of power I was using and controlling so quickly. Everyone apart of the operation at this point has been arrested, tracked down by your Uncle Silver, the only exceptions being Kathrine and Shadow. Which is why I'm hesitant towards letting you travel. Shadow isn't a problem, Kathrine however..."
Uncle Silver then cut in. "How isn't Shadow a problem? I get he has some form of 'respect' towards you but he's made no such promises to stay away from Harmony."
Mum winced. "Right I've been meaning to speak with you about that..." she smiled, awkwardly scratching the back of her neck.
Narrowing his eyes, Uncle Silver gave my Mum the 'you're in trouble' look I knew so well. "How long have you been 'meaning to talk about it'?"
"12-ish years..." My Mum stated, not looking at my uncle.
Silver face palmed. "Let's hear it."
"I made a deal with Shadow... provided he stay well away from my family, specifically Harmony and Chrome, his past crimes would be... forgotten." Mum explained. "It wasn't an easy thing to do but after the incident, I didn't want Shadow after Harmony as well as Kathrine..." She hung her head, sighing softly as she did.
Silver shook his head. "We'll talk about that later when Harmony isn't around."
Taking a deep breath in, my mother glanced at my dad, he gave a nod before Mum spoke. "I think I've delayed the enevitable long enough. I can't keep you here forever, that's simply not fair. You're progressing well on your training and Frost Flower knows everything she must teach you and if I wait much longer, you won't get to really experience the world for yourself before the next phase of your training must begin. So, provided you stay away from Kalos where we've managed to keep Kathrine secluded in, your father and I have decided to let you travel as soon as you're ready."
I was taken slightly by shock. "Really?"
My mother nodded. "Forming a bond between you and your Pokémon is one of the most important bonds you can make as the next Voice of Purity, it helps our power grow steady and strong. I couldn't take that from you."
"Besides, I'm close to tracking Kathrine down." Uncle Silver stated, looking away from my and watching my mother. "She'll be behind bars before she even knows your traveling."
"There are some conditions however." My mum stated, ignoring her bother. "You need to call me, your father, Silver or Destiny every day. I need to know where you are each night when you set up camp so if something does go wrong, I know where you last were. Chrome will be traveling with you and you must travel together and know where the other is at all times you are traveling, understand?"
I nodded.
"And Frost Flower must never not be by your side, I don't care what the reason is. If anything, anything bad happens, you see someone suspicious, you feel like your being followed or anything like that, you must call me immediately. Understand?" My mother spoke firmly and although her conditions seemed somewhat silly to me, I knew my mother was smart and only had my safety in mind as she always did and after the childhood Mum had endured, I really couldn't blame her for wanted to make sure I was safe. Besides, it was nothing unreasonable.
Again, I nodded. "I understand mum, I will do that. Promise!"
"Good girl." Mum paused, staring at me almost absently before opening up her arms with a proud smile over her features. "Come here." She said, inviting me for a hug. I complied and snuggled into her arms. "You grew up too fast." She smiled, stroking my beetle black hair and kissing my forehead.
"When can I leave?" I beamed, feeling Dad rubbing my back. I smiled at him too.
Mum smiled softly. "Depends, where do you want to go?"
"Anywhere?"
"Besides Kalos, I don't want you going there until Kathrine has been apprehended. Understand?" I knew Mum would never budge there.
I nodded. "I can live with that, can I have some time to think about it?"
"Take all the time you need." Mum smiled. "Take all year if you need, I won't complain."
Hugging my mother tightly, I giggled lightly to myself. "No promises."
"Go clean up for dinner." Mum smiled, setting me down before patting my head. "I'll call you when it's ready."
"Okay mum." I nodded, taking Frost in my arms I went to leave the room.
"May I borrow Frost Flower for the moment Harmony." Night asked, raising from where she was laying. My mother's Ninetails flicked her tails elegantly.
Setting Frost down on the ground, I nodded. It wasn't unusual for Night to take Frost Flower aside for training or education at some point during the day and it showed too. Frost Flower, although generally shy, cute, cuddle and quite mild of temper, could get quite vicious when she thought I was in danger. Trust me, you don't want to stand between her and me under any circumstance, my cousin had learnt that the hard way... more then once.

Well I had this chapter ready on time but forgot to publish it... I've been on holidays so oops.
Someone asked me this but I couldn't find the comment again later when I went to answer it but Legacy Isle is made of 6 island which any normal person needs to get permission from Emma to enter. Emma created the Legacy Isles the way the were so she could Harmony the freedom to run around and explore without having to be overly controlling over where Harmony was at all times.
Well, until next week loyal followers, don't forget to vote and comment!!!
