Chapter 6

Ahsoka woke up the next morning to find that Lux was not beside her. She frowned, and bit disappointed, and looked at the alarm clock by her bed, to see it was already 11:30.

"Kriff, I slept late. No wonder Lux is gone."

Ahsoka got up from the bed and got dressed in her clothes. She then made her way to the kitchen for some... breakfast? She wasn't sure what it would be at this point, but she knew she needed something to eat. As soon as she entered the kitchen, she made a beeline for the fridge.

Upon opening the fridge, Ahsoka saw a plate and a note. She took both out, and immediately realized what was on the plate, it was her peoples' favorite food–Thimiars. She smiled from ear to ear, Lux knew how much she loved Thimiars. She put them in the microwave and sat down to read the note.

Hey Soka,

Sorry I didn't say goodbye before I left, but you looked so peaceful and I didn't want to disturb you after what happened last night. There's some Thimiars in the fridge that I cooked before leaving, all you'll have to do is reheat them. I left some money on the counter incase you wanted to go out and do something today. I'll see you when I get home.

Love,
Lux

Ahsoka smiled, he was too kind to her. What did I do to deserve someone like him, she woundered. She was then brought back from her thoughts by the beeping of the microwave. She got up and took the Thimiars out and began to eat.

After she had finished eating, she walked over to the couch and plopped down onto it. What am I going to do today? Then suddenly she saw it flash before her eyes again, her dream, Anakin's death, the masked, mechanical figure. She knew what she was going to be doing today.

She made her way back into her room, and opened the drawer next to her bed. Inside lay the secret comm that she had been given by Anakin. It could contact three people–Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan. So far she had only used it to really call Padme and Anakin, as she knew Obi-Wan probably wouldn't want to be bothered by petty girl talk, or hear about her problems. However, she knew that Obi-Wan was the only one she could go to with this, she didn't want to worry Padme or Anakin yet.

She took the comm in her hand and pressed the button. "Master Kenobi? Master Kenobi are you there?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obi-Wan was sitting peacefully in his quarters at the Jedi Temple tinkering with his lightsaber. It had been struck by a stray blaster bolt during his last mission, and had refused to work after that. As he was concentrating, trying to use the force to take apart his saber to see the problem, he was pulled out of focus by a buzzing sound in his drawer. He was momentarily confused by what the sound was coming from, but he realized it must be the comm Anakin gave him after Ahsoka left so she could keep in contact with them. Ahsoka had never called him on it though, but he was okay with that, he knew the bond that she shared with Anakin.

He opened the drawer, "Master Kenobi? Master Kenobi are you there?" Ahsoka spoke through the comm.

"Yes Ahsoka, I'm here. I must say I'm surprised to hear your voice, a welcome one, but a surpirse nonetheless. What seems to be troubling you?"

"Master... I," she paused for a moment, Obi-Wan could sense the uncertainty in her voice and... fear? He shook his head away from the thought as she continued, "I had a dream last night, and I'm worried about what it means."

Obi-Wan stroke his beard, what could it be about that has the young togruta so worked up, and why hadn't she gone to Anakin with this? "Well what was it about Ahsoka?" he asked curiously.

He could feel Ahsoka hesitate before starting, "Is there somewhere we can meet in person to talk about this? I'm free all day"

Now Obi-Wan was worried. Something was definitely troubling the young girl. "Sure, there's a dinner about 2 blocks from the Temple called Johnny's I can meet you there in about an hour. Is that okay with you?"

"Yes. I'll see you then. Thanks," and with that, Ahsoka ended the call.

Obi-Wan put the comm away, and went back to his lightsaber. He couldn't concentrate, he was too busy wondering about Ahsoka, and what was troubling her. He eventually pushed it to the back of his mind, and fixed his lightsaber. Clipping it to his belt, he left his quarters and made his way to meet Ahsoka.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ahsoka arrived to the dinner, looking around, she didn't catch sight of the Jedi Master she was looking for. She wasn't surprised, as she was early, so she got a booth and sat down to wait. A young Twi'lek walked over and gave her a menu, promising to return when Obi-Wan arrived. Ahsoka thanked her, and she left.

After waiting for about 5 minutes, Obi-Wan finally entered the dinner. Ahsoka saw him and waved him over to the booth. Obi-Wan made his way over, and sat down across from Ahsoka.

"Ahsoka, so good to see you again," said Obi-Wan smiling.

"It's been a while Master Kenobi, it's good to see you as well," Ahsoka said returning the smile.

"So how have you been? What've you been up to?" Obi-Wan asked. Anakin had given him a few updates, but he wanted to hear what she had to say.

"Not much honestly. I spend a majority of my time just hanging around the apartment watching the HoloNet, or shopping. Lux isn't home much due to his work, so I have to imrpovise," Ahsoka responded.

"Ah that's right. Anakin told me about you and the Senator. Can't say I'm surprised, we all knew how you felt about him. How is he doing?"

"Oh he's doing well, the Senate and all his work is really wearing on him though. He has to stay up late, and wake up early, and he's often gone for most of the day," Obi-Wan could see Ahsoka's face fall as she said the last part. He could see that she wished they could spend more time together.

Ahsoka quickly returned to her normal happy self. "So how have you been doing Master Kenobi?"

"Oh you know, the usual. More battles against the Separatists and Dooku. And to add to that now I  have to watch over Anakin and make sure he doesn't get himself killed," he said giving out a small chuckle.

They sat in silence for a few seconds, neither knowing what to talk about. As Ahsoka looked like she was about to say something, the waitress returned to take their orders. After they had ordered, the waitress left.

They sat in silence again for a bit, until Obi-Wan broke that silence.

"So... what is it that you needed to talk to me about with regards to this dream? And although I'm flattered, why me and not Anakin?"

"Well the second part can be answered by just telling you about my dream," she replied.

"Alright, hit me with it."

Ahsoka recounted the events from her dream the previous night, not leaving anything out. When she finally finished she sighed. "I just don't know what to do. I want to believe that it was just a dream, but it all felt so... so real."

Obi-Wan sat in silence stroking his beard, before finally speaking.

"Well I understand why you wouldn't go to Anakin or Padme with this." He continued thinking before saying his next words. Attempting to choose them correclty, as this was avery delicate situation.

"It's times like this that I would tell you to seek council from Master Yoda, but I know that is not an option," he paused, "have you tried meditating on it yet to try to get a better grasp on what it means?"

"Yes and no. I've attempted to, but every time I close my eyes, I see it all again... Anakin blaming me, dying in my arms, the darkness and anger and pain. I can't last more than a few seconds before it becomes unbearable."

"Perhaps if you had someone meditating with you, someone to take on some of that stress, then perhaps you'd be able to get past it, and attempt to see what it all means."

Ahsoka pondered this for a moment. She hadn't thought about that. Maybe Obi-Wan was on to something, or maybe it wouldn't work at all. She thought it was worth a try at least.

"Alright let's do it. We can go back to Lux and I's apartment after we've eaten and mediate on it there in peace. He won't be home till late anyways."

Obi-Wan just nodded.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obi-Wan and Ahsoka reached the apartment and entered. As Ahsoka promised, Lux wasn't there so they had peace and quiet. Ahsoka motioned for him to follow her and she led him into an empty room with no windows or lights, and blank white walls. There was a carpet in the middle, and some candles scattered around the floor.

"This is where I come to meditate, although I don't use it too often thanks to Anakin seeing it as rather unimportant."

Obi-Wan just shook his head and sighed. He had never been able to get Anakin to see the importance of meditation.

"Well, shall we get started?" Obi-Wan asked.

Ahsoka nodded and proceeded to light the candles before sitting on the carpet. Obi-Wan followed suit, and they both soon had their eyes closed and began to meditate.

Immediately they were hit with a wave of emotions... anger, fear, hatred. All these emotions were so powerful that Obi-Wan didn't even know how to react. They threatened to engulf him, and he couldn't imagine what they were doing to the young girl.

Soon the emotions faded a bit, and the scene in front of them became more clear. It was an exact repeat of Ahsoka's dream, but this time Obi-Wan was there and was able to witness it. He felt all the emotions that were going through Ahsoka as Anakin spoke to her, and then as he died, and again the voices of the mechanical figure and Ahsoka exchanging lines. Suddenly he saw Ahsoka give into her anger and strike toawrd the figure. Obi-Wan tried to yell out to stop her, but remebered that she couldn't hear him. He was just a passive observer. As she struck the figure, everything went black, and he was pulled from his meditative state, panting and gasping for air. He couldn't even begin to understand what he had just saw. What did it all mean? He was even more confused than before they had began the meditation.

He looked over to see Ahsoka unresponsive on the floor. Crawling over to her, he checked for a pulse, and much to his delight, she had one. Obi-Wan picked her up and carried her to the couch.

While he was waiting for her to awake, his mind wandered back to what he had just saw. Obviously he knew that Anakin would never say that to her. He was extremely proud of what she had become. What bothered him wasn't the dark figure that had killed Anakin, but something Anakin had said, "Where were you when I needed you?" That line echoed through his mind. What could be so bad that Anakin had to face that he couldn't overcome without his former padawan? Surely whatever it was, he would be able to help Anakin with if Ahsoka wasn't there.

Before he could think any further, he felt Ahsoka stir next to him. She groggily opened her eyes and looked at her surroundings.

"How'd I get here? What happened?" the young togruta frantically asked.

"You passed out after we finished meditating, so I brought you here to the couch."

"Oh, thank you master."

"Of course Ahsoka."

There was a silence before Ahsoka asked, "So, what did you think? Do you have any ideas on what it could mean"

The Jedi Master took a deep breath. He really had no idea.

"Ahsoka," he started, "I really don't know. I've never been at a loss like this before. I need time to process what I saw, and try to piece everything together. For now, I'd say continue to try to meditate on it. See if you can see anything else. If you dream or see anything else, tell me, okay?"

She didn't say anything, but just nodded.

Obi-Wan got up to leave, but Ahsoka grabbed his arm. She stared him in the eyes.

"Just promise me one thing: you will not tell anyone about this, especially Anakin or Padme.

This time it was Obi-Wan's turn to just nod in agreement. Ahsoka let go of his arm, and he left. Much was on his mind as he left, but one thing was certain: something was going to happen, and unless they could figure it out, the galaxy may be thrown into turmoil.
