Chapter 16

Obi-Wan and Ahsoka rushed out of the diner, not quite sure where they needed to go, but knew something bad was about to happen. Ahsoka turned on her commlink to call Lux. After it rung a few times, Lux answered.

"Hey Soka, what's up? Ready for another round?" Lux said suggestively.

Obi-Wan heard this and raised his eyebrow, giving Ahsoka a look. Ahsoka ignored it and responded, "Lux, now is hardly the. You remember the visions I had a while back?"

"Yea the ones where Anakin dies and the clones turned on you?"

"Yea those ones," she paused and took a deep breath. "Obi-Wan and I believe that all of that is going to happen today. All of the clones will turn on the Jedi, slaughtering them."

Lux immediately went into panic mode. "Oh my force! Ahsoka are you okay? Where are you? I'm coming to find you right now!"

"Lux! Lux! Calm down, now is not the time to panic!"

"NOW'S NOT THE TIME TO PANIC?!?!? AHSOKA YOU COULD BE KILLED! I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT YOU! PLEASE TAKE THIS AS A SERIOUS MATTER, AND STAY SAFE!" Lux was hysterical at this point.

Ahsoka sighed, "Alright Lux, pack up all our valuables from the apartment, and meet me at these coordinates," Ahsoka said sending him her current coordinates. "Get here ASAP and bring the speeder."

"Alright, I'll see you soon," Lux said a bit more calm.

Ahsoka turned to Obi-Wan. "Master Kenobi, you go to the Jedi Temple and warn everyone. I'll wait here for Lux and meet you at the Temple."

Obi-Wan nodded. "May the force be with you Ahsoka Tano," he paused, a tear coming to his eye. "And if we never see each other again, it was a pleasure to watch you grow into a strong young woman, and I'm proud I was able to play a part in your life."

Ahsoka felt tears well in her eyes. She had never seen Obi-Wan this emotional before. He had always been the disciplined one, who rarely showed his emotions. Ahsoka didn't say anything, for she knew if she did, the tears would begin to flow. Instead she pulled Obi-Wan into a hug.

"Thank you," she whispered into his robes.

They parted without another word and Obi-Wan took of running towards the Temple, with Ahsoka staying put waiting for Lux. After about ten minutes, he arrived. Ahsoka hopped in immediately, and Lux pulled her in for a quick kiss before starting the speeder again.

"So... what's the plan?" Lux asked.

"We're going to the Jedi Temple and I'm going to help evacuate and save as many people as possible," she replied.

"And what do you want me to do?"

"You are going to go to the hangar and find us a ship. There should be a Corellian G9 Rigger-class light freighter in there somewhere unless they got rid of it. It used to be the ship Anakin and I would use when going on missions by ourselves."

Lux just nodded and continued driving the speeder. They were silent, each thinking of what they would have to do once they got there. Suddenly Ahsoka got a message on her comm. She answered it and Obi-Wan's voice came through the speaker.

"Ahsoka! Ahsoka! It's begun! The clones are here attacking the Jedi! There's too many of them! Stay away! Get you and Lux out of here!"

Ahsoka's jaw dropped, and she felt tears well in her eyes. She couldn't believe it was actually happening. She wanted to just scream and cry and go hide in a hole, but she knew she couldn't. She knew she had a job to do. A destiny to fulfill.

"I'm sorry master, but that's not possible. This is my destiny. I'm coming there and evacuating as many people as possible. Make your way to the hangar and secure the Twilight. Lux and I will be there shortly, and that's the ship we'll make our escape on."

"Got it Ahsoka, see you soon. Stay safe."

Ahsoka ended the communication and turned to Lux. "Lux step on it. The attack has begun and we need to get there as soon as possible to evacuate as many people as we can."

"I knew I heard," he said nervously.

Ahsoka sensed his concern and fear. "Lux... it's going to be alright. We're going to make it through this. I will come back to you. I always will come back to you."

This seemed to ease his nerves, as he flashed Ahsoka his signature smile. Ahsoka smiled back, but it was short lived. They came into sight of the Temple, to see it ablaze. The place she had grown up in, her home, her people... were being destroyed by those they fought alongside.

"Lux! Hurry!"

"Ahsoka I'm going as fast as I can!"

Ahsoka began to get nervous. She could feel the pain from all the Jedi that were perishing, and each moment they weren't there, was a moment where more Jedi perished.

They finally reached the hangar, luckily there was no one there. No clones, no Jedi, no one. It would be the perfect place for Lux to stay hidden and safe. After they entered the hangar, they shortly thereafter found the Twilight. Lux drove the speeder over and parked it next to the ship. As soon as they parked the speeder, Obi-Wan emerged from the ship.

Ahsoka sighed in relief. "Thank the force that you're okay Obi-Wan. Can you stay here and help protect Lux and make sure any people I send in here get onto the ship?"

"Yes of course Ahsoka, but you know you don't have to go alone."

"No, I do. I need you here to protect Lux."

Obi-Wan reluctantly nodded. "Good luck my friend, and may the force be with you," he said as he bowed.

"Thank you master," she said returning the bow.

She began to run out of the hangar, but someone grabbed her arm, stopping her. She turned around to face Lux. No words needed to be said between the two. Their hearts and eyes said it all. Lux pulled Ahsoka in for a kiss. This was unlike any of their kisses before. They knew there was a chance this was the last time they ever saw each other, so they poured out all their love for each other into the kiss. After pulling apart, they rested their foreheads against each other.

"Good luck d'bhem," Lux whispered.

"I'll see you soon ke'leh," Ahsoka said with a smile before running off.

Lux felt a hand come down on his shoulder. He looked up to see Obi-Wan. "She's strong Lux. She can take care of herself. Don't worry."

Lux just nodded and smiled up at Obi-Wan.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ahsoka was running down the halls of the Temple, ducking in and out of rooms, attempting to steer clear of any clones she spotted. She was also looking for Jedi she could help evacuate, but she saw no one. Everyone she passed was dead. There were clone bodies and bodies of Jedi young and old with blaster marks all over their bodies. People close to her, her friends, sisters, brothers, were all dead. Ahsoka had not seen such carnage in her life, and she had been in battles in war. She never though the very people they fought alongside would turn on them like this.

She made her way to the Council Chambers. Maybe she'd find some of the masters there. As she neared the room, she could feel that there were in fact life forms inside, although she couldn't recognize any of their force signatures. One felt sort of familiar, but was distorted so she couldn't tell who it was. Nonetheless, she was ecstatic that she hadn't been too late, and there were still people alive.

As she neared the room, she heard a young voice call out, "Master Skywalker, there are too many of them. What are we going to do?" Upon hearing the child's voice, she became even more excited. Anakin was still alive and he was here! He could help her get this kids out of the Temple and to safety. She reached the room and saw Anakin standing there in front of the younglings, not moving or saying anything.

"Anakin!" She called out happily.

He turned around, and his face looked cold. "You shouldn't have come here Ahsoka," he said darkly. That was when Ahsoka finally realized it. She had been blinded to it when she heard his name, so excited that he was here and alive that she missed it. There was a dark aura surrounding him.

"A-Anakin? Something's wrong. What's going on?"

"Oh Snips," he laughed, "you have always been foolish."

"And what's that supposed to mean, huh?" She asked irritated.

"Do you not see what is going on? The Republic is falling, and the Jedi are going along with them. I just chose the right side."

"Right side? What do you mean 'right side'? Anakin, what has happened to you? You're full of darkness, of hate, fear and anger. This isn't the Anakin I know. C'mon Skyguy snap out of it."

"Ahsoka you wouldn't understand!" he snapped.

"No, I think I understand perfectly," she snipped back, "you're mind has been warped and twisted by the Sith lord, so now you're blindly following what he says. You've killed your family, your friends, and destroyed your home."

"Home?" Anakin scoffed. "Ahsoka these are the same people that cast you aside and left you for dead. They wrongfully accused you and turned their backs on you, and then when they realized their mistake, they tried to play it off as 'the will of the force'! I would have thought you of all people would understand. The Jedi are corrupt hypocrites."

"Anakin, I agree. The Jedi are not what they once were, but bowing to this Sith lord isn't any better. You've killed countless innocent people today, and you were about to kill younglings for force sake!"

"Ahsoka... please leave before I have to kill you too."

Ahsoka was taken aback by this. He had always promised to protect her, to make sure no one ever hurt her, and now he was threatening to kill her himself.

"Anakin, or whoever you are now, you know I can't do that. I can't let you kill these poor kids," she was beginning to anger now. "Just please, come back to me. Come back to Obi-Wan and Padme, and you're children. You don't have to do this," she pleaded.

"I'm sorry Ahsoka, but this is how it must be," and at that moment, his eyes flashed a bloodshot yellow, and she knew she had lost him. She felt like curling up into a ball and crying. She had just lost her best friend, her master, her brother to the Dark side, and it was like a piece of her soul had been ripped away.

She reluctantly activated her lightsabers and got into a defensive stance. She didn't want to kill or hurt Anakin, only incapacitate him long enough to get away. She still knew there was good in him, but now was not the time to attempt to bring him back. Not with all the other lives on the line.

"I didn't want to do this Ahsoka, but you leave me no choice. You will die here today, along with all of the rest of the Jedi," Anakin said activating his lightsaber.

"You forget," Ahsoka started, "I am no Jedi."

She ran at him and swung both her sabers at him. HE easily blocked and countered by winging at her left side. She blocked, but he immediately jabbed at her right again, narrowly missing. Ahsoka used the force to push him back and give herself some breathing room, but it didn't last long. Anakin ran at her, striking repeatedly. Ahsoka managed to block them all, but their lightsabers soon became locked. She was almost exhausted at this point, and he was pushing down on her with all his strength. She knew she had to get out of it somehow, or this would be her end.

She looked around for any options, but then decided to kick at Anakin's leg. He staggered for a second allowing her to break free, but he was soon back on the offensive. He made long powerful strikes towards her, but she used her small stature and agility to duck and dodge all of the attacks. They again locked sabers, and Anakin was able to send one of hers flying. She attempted to use the force to bring it to her, but he caught it.

She was almost out of stamina at this point, and she was running out of room to maneuver. Anakin now had two sabers and was swinging them both at her. It was taking all her energy to not get hit. Eventually, her defenses cracked, as he sent a swing at her, and she deflected it, but his saber still grazed her left arm. She let out an agonizing scream, and dropped her saber.

Anakin seized the opportunity and force pushed her into the wall. She was now sitting there on the ground, defenseless. So this is how I die? At the hands of my master. Who woulda thought. As Anakin slowly strode over to her, she saw her life flash before her eyes. Being found by Master Plo when she was young, then being trained as a youngling. She remembered the first time she met Anakin. they didn't get along very well at first, but soon grew close, even to the point where they were inseparable. She remembered all the missions they went on, and all the fun they had. She remembered the rest of her friends from the Temple. Lastly, she remembered Lux. He would be devastated when he found out what had happened to her.

But at that moment, when she thought of Lux and what her death would do to him, something inside of her changed. She felt the force coursing through her veins stronger than it ever had before. Unbeknownst to her, her eyes had begun to glow a bright white.

As Anakin went to send the finishing blow at her, she held out her hands. What happened next astonished everyone: a flash of green lightning shot out from her fingertips, electrocuting Anakin and sending him flying towards the opposite wall.

Ahsoka just sat there for a second looking at her hands in disbelief. Had she really just done that? She looked over to Anakin, and saw him laying there unconscious. She stood and grabbed her saber and then walked over to Anakin. upon reaching his body, she took back her other saber back, then she turned to Anakin.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you Skyguy, but I'll return for you. That's a promise. I know there's still some good in you." Tears had started falling down her face and onto his robes. She leaned in and kissed his forehead, then got up and turned to the younglings in the room. They had been cowering behind the chairs in silence during their whole battle.

"It's okay. You can come out now. I'm a friend, and I'm here to get you out of the Temple and far away from here."

They all hesitantly revealed themselves and walked over to her.

"But how will we get out of here?" A little girl asked.

"I've got some friends with a ship in the hangar right now, but we need to hurry."

They all nodded, and followed Ahsoka to the hangar. Surprisingly they didn't encounter any clones on the way, and made it to the hangar without a problem. Lux saw them enter, and ran up to Ahsoka, brining her into a tight embrace, and then bombarding her with kisses.

"Oh thank the force you're okay. I started to fear the worst," he said on the verge of tears.

"Lux, it's okay I came back. I told you I would didn't I?" She said as she allowed a small giggle escape her mouth. "Now we need to get out of here. Get everyone on the ship, and I'll get it ready for takeoff."

Lux nodded and began to escort everyone on board. Once the engines were primed, and everyone was on the ship, Ahsoka walked down the ramp to where Obi-Wan and Lux were standing. Obi-Wan could sense something was troubling the togruta.

"Ahsoka, what's wrong?" He asked.

Ahsoka sighed, and recounted her encounter with Anakin. Obi-Wan just looked at her in shock, not sure of what to say. His former padawan, his brother had fallen to the dark side. Lux just looked at Ahsoka with sympathy and brought her into a hug.

"Ahsoka, we need to get going before more clones come," Lux whispered.

She pulled out of the hug, tears forming in her eyes. "I know, let's go." She and Lux began to walk up the ramp, but Obi-Wan did not follow. Ahsoka turned around to face him. "Obi-Wan you're coming right?"

He shook his head. "No, I can't. There are still things I must take care of here on Coruscant."

Ahsoka nodded. She knew he had to do this, just as she had had to do everything earlier. She ran down the ramp to Obi-Wan and pulled him into a hug.

"Farewell my friend. May we meet again," Obi-Wan said solemly.

"May the force be with you," Ahsoka replied before turning and running onto the ship. Lux was already in the co-pilots chair when she reached the cockpit. She sat in the pilots chair and took off.

Once they had escaped Coruscan'ts atmosphere, Lux turned towards her. "Where to captain?"

"Set the coordinates for the Debtora System," she replied.

"The Debtora System?" He asked in shock. "You know there's nothing out there right?"

"Lux, trust me alright?"

Lux sighed, "Whatever you say." He set the coordinates and soon they entered hyperspace.

They reached their destination, and in front of them was a planet.

"Well I'll be damned..." Lux whispered.

"Lux, this is the planet Delmara. It appears on no maps."

"How'd you know it would be here?"

"I had a vision, and it showed me this planet. It will be our new home..."
