No Restraints
After that awkward greeting, Yang told the professor of Beacon about the situation and he "confiscated" my Beowolf.
However, I wasn't sure if I'm in trouble or not. I sat in a gray room, most likely an interrogation room, as I ate a plate of cookies that was given to me by Glynda Goodwitch.
"Lily Rose," Ozpin greeted as he entered the room. I smiled at him with a wave since my mouth was stuffed with cookies. "Related to Ruby Rose, I take it?"
I swallowed the food in my mouth so I could speak. "And Yang Xiao Long." I added, proudly. "Of course. You're a bit young to be at my school." He mentioned.
"That's because I'm not a student of yours, silly," I giggled. "I came from Patch to see my sisters. Is Shadow okay?"
"Shadow?" Ozpin repeated. "My Beowolf." I informed. "Right, your pet Grimm. Ms. Rose, surely you know how dangerous the Grimm can be." Ozpin indicated.
"Not Shadow. He's good."
"And how is it you came to keep a Grimm for a pet?"
"Are you sure you wanna know? It's kind of a long story."
"I have time."
"Then, I suggest you get comfortable 'cause it's story time!"
Ozpin chuckled and sat the in chair across from me. "A few days before my dad left for his mission, I decided to take a walk in the woods. I've done it dozens of times, so I decided to take a different route. I took a path I've never taken before and found myself standing in front of a Beowolf. That's Shadow, by the way." I said.
"Right, go on." Ozpin replied. "I was so scared, I couldn't move. I couldn't even speak. Shadow slowly approached me, growling and snarling. I knew I couldn't outrun him, so could I do?" I continued.
"When Shadow was finally close enough to bite my face off, I closed my eyes tightly and just waited to be killed. At first, I felt him sniffing my cheek. Then, there was licking. A lot of licking. When I realized Shadow wasn't going to hurt me, I decided to keep him and he hasn't done anything to harm me since. The end."
"Quite the story, Ms. Rose." Ozpin commented. "Have you ever encountered a Grimm before? Besides Shadow?"
"Nope." I answered. "Not once?" He asked. "Nope." I repeated. "And you don't wield a weapon? Let alone know hand-to-hand combat?" Ozpin asked.
"Nope," I said once more. "Because I don't want to be a Huntress. I don't have it in me to become one. I just want to be a normal girl with a family who loves me."
"With a Beowolf for a pet." Ozpin added. "That, too." I agreed, grinning. "Mm-hm. Unfortunately, Ms. Rose, I'm afraid I can't let you keep your Beowolf." Ozpin said.
"What?! Why?!" I asked while standing to my feet. "Lily, this is for your own safety, and it's too dangerous to have a Grimm on the grounds of my school." He explained.
"Didn't you hear what I said?! Shadow's not dangerous! He's harmless! He wouldn't hurt a fly!" I defended.
"Ms. Rose-"
"What if I kept tabs on him! I-I'll make sure he stays out of the way!" I interrupted.
"Lily, I know you're passionate about keeping your Beowolf safe, but I have to ensure the safety of my students." Ozpin explained.
"If you know how passionate I am about Shadow, then you won't take him from me! I'll take really good care of him! I promise!"
"Lily-"
"No! I won't let you take my friend from me!"
I ran out of the room, sprinting down the hall. "Shadow? Shadow, where are you?" I called. I heard a howl from nearby, and I ran into a room where Shadow was locked in a cage.
"Hang on, buddy! I'll get you out of there!" I grabbed a fire extinguisher and smashed it against the padlock a couple of times until it finally broke off.
I opened the cage and set Shadow free. "Come on, Shadow! We're getting out of here!" I told him. I climbed on his back and we ran out of the school.
As we ran down the hall, students screamed and moved out of the way.
Ruby's POV
"Did you see that?!" Weiss said. "Why was Lily on the back of a Beowolf?!" Blake asked. "I'm not sure. But let's go after her." I said.
The four of us ran out of the school and followed Lily into the woods. "Which way did she go?" Yang asked. "We should split up. We'll call each other if we find her." I said.
Everyone agreed and we went our separate ways. "Lily? Lily!" I called loudly, my hands cupped around my mouth. "Lily!"
I heard crying from nearby. After walking past a couple of trees, I found Lily sitting in the grass, crying into her knees.
My eyes widened when I saw the Beowolf standing in front of her.
"It's not fair. He doesn't understand, Shadow. You're not dangerous. I know you're not. You're different from the others, I know it." She sobbed.
"Lily?" I called out softly. She turned her head to look at me and gasped while quickly standing to her feet.
"Ruby!" She said, surprised to see me. "Professor Ozpin wants to kill Shadow when he hasn't done anything wrong!"
"Lily, please talk to me. What's going on?" I asked, cautiously approaching her and the Beowolf. "Shadow's not dangerous! He's not!" Lily insisted.
Before I could ask, an Ursa emerged from the trees behind them. Lily turned around and gasped at the creature, falling down on her behind.
"Lily, get down!" I yelled while taking out my weapon. Lily screamed in fright and ducked her head.
Just as I was about to pull the trigger, the Beowolf stood on its hind legs, standing behind Lily as if it were protecting her.
It let out a roar towards the Ursa before lunging at it. The Beowolf is... protecting her? I thought, confused. The two Grimm creatures began to battle each other.
The Beowolf viciously bit and scratched at the Ursa before managing to pin the Ursa on its back.
Before it had a chance to get up, the Beowolf smashed its humongous paw through its chest and the Ursa went limp.
The Beowolf took its paw out and rested it against the dead Grimm and roared with victory. "Shadow!" Lily ran over to the Beowolf and hugged it. "I'm so happy you're okay!"
"Whoa..." I said in awe. I turned my head and Blake, Weiss, and Yang came running towards us.
"Are you guys okay?" Yang asked.
"What was that sound?" Blake asked.
"What happened?" Weiss asked. "We're fine, we're fine." I assured. I looked at Lily was she was still hugging the Beowolf's snout against her face, relieved.
The Beowolf seemed to be in content as it closed its eyes with a soft purr. "Is your sister cuddling a Beowolf?" Blake asked. "Yes. Yes, she is." Yang confirmed.
