Venn brought roses home with him that night. It was an apology for their fight a few days ago. It had been over something stupid. His keys didnt fit the lock when he tried.

He tried every key multiple times. He flipped them upside down and tried them all again. No luck.

The roses felt heavy in his hands as he stood there. This was the last thing he had expected. He knocked, but when no answer came he sighed and stepped back.

He had two choices, he could wait or he could leave.

It was chilly and he had already been cold. He laid the roses on the doormat and turned to go. He pulled out his phone as he walked away.
