The reasons dor disliking this ship are quite intimidating, so please no-plagiarized replies.

First, is a selfish reason. There wouldn't be any Harry Potter without the Lames Lol... That means no life to us Potterheads!!!!

At some point of time, Snape loved the Dark Arts more than Lily, but do you know James love for Lily being second to something else?

Didn't Snape hate Harry from the start, no matter he was trying to save him for Lily's sake? If he really loved Lily so much, he could feel Lily in Harry's eyes and not an arrogant toerag like James!!!

*As far as I know, Harry isn't arrogant. Yes, he's a bit sassy but....*

He always bullied Neville, didn't he? Just for what?? He would have been the Chosen One and Lily would have lived!!

But, the main reason for her death was Snape himself!! Yup!! He pleaded for her life but don't you think it was foolish of him to believe a cold-hearted, psychopath like Voldemort and risk Lily's life.

And he wanted Harry and James dead!! That would be very pleasing to Lily, right? If he had loved her so much, he wouldn't have ever wanted the people she loved dead!!

Forget James, their enmity was stronger than their love but what about Harry. Wasn't Lily's baby anything to the person who loved her so much!!

I really respect Snape for his Bravery and The Ultimate Sacrifice but he too has some faults.

'Always' will be the best love story but Snily can never be the best couple!!

Few extra reasons (And to be clear this is how fans who hate the ship view Snily shippers and not necessarily the objective truth about Snily shippers):

People who ship Jily obviously are at odds with people who ship Snily. Ship war, if you must. Just like Drarry and Dramione. 

Some people feel it's a pointless ship that's mostly shipped out of pity for Snape because (a) there isn't really much to show them as compatible and (b) James and Lily are the parents of the hero. It just seems pointless to ship a ship that would result in the hero of the story not existing. It's the Harry Potter series, not Severus Snape series after all. -(Yes, there isn't much to show Jily as compatible either, but at least we know they had the same values and goals and they have canon in their favour).

Snily seems like a James bashing ship. It seems a ship that's shipped to say "Fuck you James. You don't deserve Lily. Our Snape should have got her" or "Lily was such an idiot. She should have married Snape even if he was heading to be a DE. Would totally have worked out". Is there really any Snily shipper who doesn't hate James?

Snape hate. Obviously, those who hate Snape won't ship any ship that involves him, unless maybe if they hate his pair too.

Believe it or not, some people just don't see Snily as compatible or working out. And some people see Jily as a more workable, practical and/or compatible ship.

It's a matter of personal opinion in the end, as long as we're not ignoring canon and making up thing about James or Snape to support our preferred ship. But in the end, we see so little of James/Lily and Snape/Lily that they're shipped mostly on what people assume of their relationship anyway. In the realm of assumption, I personally prefer to side with the canon ship that got married and sired the story's hero.

But then again it's not Snily shippers that get all the hate. If you just read the other answers, it is clear that the source of the problem is hatred for Snape himself and nothing else.

You're talking about a very divisive character. Most people either hate him or love him, and the haters usually have difficulty in acknowledging that he didn't die as a "racist terrorist" and that he was never "obsessive". Seriously, if you only see him as an obsessive muggle-hater you will naturally be turned off by any relationship he gets into.

Not to mention, a quite large number of people who like Snape dislike Lily for (in their view) being spiteful and disloyal to him, so you have it both ways. Either people hate Snape or Lily. People who like both, such as me, seem to be a minority.

Some people who hate the shipping seem to believe that Lily "deserved" better than Severus. Which is crazy, people may deserve a pay rise or a prize, but not a person. Anyway, the prize husband that Lily got didn't last her long - she probably deserved him. 

Because A LOT would have to change for a Snape and Lily relationship to even be remotely healthy and non-toxic.

Snape would have to willingly change his behaviour, leave the Death Eaters, not want to be a mud blood hater, and change his thinking and speaking. He would have to not be racist and not want to be racist.

And stories from shippers that gloss over that or minimizes or whitewashes the racism of Snape isn't doing anything that would make the relationship healthy, but rather paint the image that racism is okay.

It's not a very healthy relationship.

On the one hand, you have Lily Evans. A bright young woman. Smart. Pretty. Popular. Beloved by all who knew her.

On the other hand, you have some creepy loser who's obsessed with her. Who also thinks he's inherently better than her because of the circumstances of his birth. And who all her friends think is bad news.

Yeah ... no. Lily deserved way better than Snape. A lot better. Having Snape as your boyfriend is objectively worse than being single.

Sorry, I just don't ship it.
