Their story was epic. A story for the ages, practically star-crossed lovers. They fought and they won. They were the golden ones. They had a child and saved the world. They. Were. Epic. 

People ask me why I ship Jily if they die before the series started and it's all sad. but, like, no. Jily is not a sad ship - tragic? Yes. but not necessarily sad. In fact, Jily makes me unreasonable giddy. they are the cutest most amazing...gah, every time I think about them I just smile and giggle. (Just like when I'm thinking of Drarry) They make me all happy and sunny inside. the way they argue and rile each other up and they obviously love each other and their growth and their sacrifice. 

While I do believe that there is much more to the story than the little snippet we saw in Snape's Worst Memory, it is true that James Potter wasn't a great human being while he was at Hogwarts. However, in the time between the sixth and seventh year, or maybe even during his seventh year, James did change - a lot. He changed enough so that he became desirable to Lily Evans of all people. Personally, I love this ship. 

 Even though we aren't told much about their relationship or their characters in the books, we are shown just enough that we can imagine them as a loving couple and a happy little family once Harry is born.
