Chapter 4 - A New Feeling
About ten minutes after you sent Jim the text there was a knock on your door. You look to your friend and you grin at eachother as you walk over to open it. A smile appears on your face when you see him, even though deep down a part of you knows you shouldn't be seeing him again.
"Come in. This is my best friend Gwen," You say, gesturing to Gwen as she walks over to the door. "She was just leaving though."
"It's nice to meet you Jim. I've heard some pretty good things about you, but you better treat y/n right or else I'll hunt you down and make you pay." She tells him with a serious voice then smiles. Jim jokingly puts his hands up in defense and suppresses a laugh.
"Ok, ok. It's nice to meet you too, and I'll try my best to treat her like a queen." Jim said with a grin and wrapped one of his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him. Gwen smiled at this and said her goodbyes. When Jim wasn't looking she gave you a quick thumbs up with a goofy smile before leaving your flat.
"I'm assuming from her little 'threat' you didn't tell her about what I do?" Jim asked with an amused look on his face.
You smiled and shook your head.
"Good."
"So Jim, what did you need to tell me that's so important it couldn't wait until tomorrow?" You ask, raising an eyebrow. He walks over and sits down on the couch and you do the same.
"Well after last night I thought that you had the right to know the truth about me, about us." He looked into your eyes as he said this and you could see a slight look of concern in his eyes. You slowly nod to tell him to continue. "I...I was going to use you at first to get to Sherlock. I didn't feel anything real between us, but-"
"Use me? What do you mean? Were you just gonna throw me away when you got to Sherlock?" You blurt out, feeling tears begin to form in your eyes. 'Not again! I'm not going to let this happen again!' You think as you jump up from the couch, wanting to get away before his answer could be heard.
You knew that if his answer was yes, the wall you had put up around your heart would crumble and you wouldn't be able to handle the heartbreak this time. You'd only known this man for a week and you were already so attached to him. It confused you as to why Jim was the only one who's been able to get you to love again, especially after such little time together.
He manages to grab your arm before you get the chance to run to your bedroom like an overly emotional teenage girl. He pulls you back down on the couch next to him and wipes away a tear that had fallen down your cheek.
"Let me finish, y/n." Jim says firmly as you blink away the rest of your tears. "I said I was going to use you at first. But when I saw how beautiful you looked when I picked you up for dinner and when you told me about your life, I felt something that I've never felt before, something I never knew I could feel," his voice was kind now and you could hear the sincerity of his words and it made you feel guilty about jumping to conclusions.
"And when I saw those guys treating you like that last night, I...I don't know how to explain it. It's just that I get this weird feeling whenever I'm around you and I don't know why." His voice had a hint of anger in it, but you weren't sure if it was directed at you or himself.
He looked away from you as he finished talking and stood up, running his hands through his hair. "I usually don't feel anything for anyone."
You smile to yourself as you realize what feeling he's talking about. 'I guess letting myself feel for someone again hasn't quite been a disaster...at least not yet.' You stand up and walk over to him and rest your hands at the back of his neck while staring deeply into his dark, deadly eyes.
"Don't worry, I know what you mean and I...I feel the same way about you." You say with a grin and bite your lip. He smirks at your words and places his hands on your waist.
"Really? Are you sure you do? I mean I am a psychopathic killer, you know." He asks, his smirk changing into a questioning look, but you just grin bigger. You never would've imagined having a conversation like this before you met the consulting criminal.
"I'm not sure if I should be feeling this way, but I know I do. And let's face it, everyone has flaws." You assure him with a smile before adding with a laugh, "Some a bit worse than others."
This brings a genuine smile to Jim's face before he leans closer to you, making your heart beat faster as he purrs, "I'm glad you do."
Before you realize what's happening his lips crash into yours. Your eyes widen in surprise but you quickly close them and kiss him back passionately, realizing just how much you had missed this kind of intimacy.
Your hands travel from his neck up to his hair and entangle themselves in it as if your life depended on it. His hands slowly slide up and down your sides, giving you goosebumps, before he pushes you up against the nearest wall and presses his body closer to yours.
You accidentally let out a small moan and you feel him smirk into the kiss. His tongue brushes against your lower lip asking for entrance and you allow it. Your tongues explore each other's mouths as you feel the need for him increasing inside you. You could taste mint in his mouth, probably from gum, and a hint of tea.
You remove your hands from his hair and try to take off his suit jacket but his hands stop you as he breaks the kiss. You're both breathing heavily but you sigh in disappointment.
"I'm not usually one to refuse a good time," Jim says smirking as he steps away from you and fixes his hair some, "but I don't have the time right now, love. I've got something big planned and I have to make sure everything is set up properly before the time comes. I really shouldn't have come over tonight but I just had to get those things off my mind. I'm sorry, y/n, but I'd better be off now."
Jim walks over to the door and you follow him. "Oh, I understand, and I mean, we've only had one real date so I shouldn't have tried to, um...rush things." You say shyly, not making eye contact with him as you feel a slight blush spread across your face. He places two fingers under your chin lifts it up so you're looking right into his eyes.
"Don't worry darling, we'll get the chance to rush things soon enough. Good night." He tells you with a wink and a devilish smirk before he quickly slips out of your flat and out to his car. You close the door quietly and lean against it with your eyes closed. You let out a happy sigh and a slight laugh as you think, 'I just snogged the most dangerous man in England. Gwen will flip when she finds out.'
You went to bed with a smile on your face and Jim Moriarty on your mind.

Hello! Hope you guys liked this chapter, I tried to make it interesting without moving the relationship along too quickly.
Any ideas for something they should do for their next date?
