Chapter 2
I really did expect her to wake me up when she first got word of him being on his way. But no, instead she decided to wake me up when he was five minutes from our house. I have. Five. Minutes. To get ready. I quickly hopped out of bed and got dressed as soon as Chrystal left.
I put on my plain, dark red shirt. The sleeves stopped at my elbow since it was over sized. I put on my black skinny jeans and tucked half of my shirt into them. I slid on my black combat boots and tied the laces then left the room. My short hair that landed at my chin was a little bit messier than usual so I tamed it a little.
I walked downstairs to lecture Chrystal but when I came down I didn't see her anywhere.
"Chris!" I called. I didn't get a response. Then I felt someone put their hands on my shoulders. Fight or flight kicked in and I turned around and punched the person. My eyes were closed so I didn't see who it was. Suddenly I heard someone say,
"Ouch, that's no way to treat a guest." I heard them chuckle after that. I heard a male voice so I assumed it was the guy we were having over. I looked up at him.
"Oh god, I'm SO sorry. But Chrystal should have warned you i punch when I'm scared." I looked up at him. The height difference was tough. I hate being short.
He laughed, "actually she did!" And suddenly I saw Chrystal appear from behind him holding in a laugh. She composed herself and said,
"Alright, Alex can you make dinner? I'm kinda light headed."
"Yeah holding in laughter can do that to a person," I snort, "But sure. I'll cook." She ran up and hugged me.
"Thank you~" she said happily, drawing out 'you'. I just waved my hand at her and walked to the kitchen. I grabbed a pot but then turned around realizing I didn't ask Chrystal what she wanted.
"Hey Chris!" I called to her.
"Yeah?" She yelled back from the living room.
"What should I make?"
"You know"
Whenever she said that it meant for me to make her favorite food, fettuccine Alfredo. I liked it too but not as much as her. At least it was something I know how to make, since she makes me cook it for her all the time.
I grabbed the pasta and Alfredo sauce from the pantry and began boiling the water. Once it boiled I took out all the pasta and broke it in half so it would fit in the pot better. I heard Chrystal and the guy laughing in the other room. I just now realized... I don't know his name. Well whatever I'll ask him over dinner.
I waited for the pasta to soften and then I went to the cabinet and pulled out the strainer. I put it in the sink and then poured the contents of the pot into the strainer. I poured the pasta back in the pot and added the Alfredo. I mixed it in well and placed it on the table. After I took out three plates and put a bit on all the plates. I poured some wine into some glasses and set them at the table as well. "I swear if this guy doesn't drink wine he can't be friends with Chris." I muttered.
I called them to dinner and after a few seconds they arrived.
We all sat down and began eating. As the guy took his first bite I saw his eyes beam. He didn't say anything but he let out a small hum and smiled, then kept eating.
Honestly I couldn't stop looking at his hair. He had long, curly, ginger hair that draped over his shoulders. It looked so soft. I wanted to touch it. Is that creepy? That sounds kinda creepy. Well whatever. Guess I'm a creep. But can you really blame me? His hair looked softer than a chinchilla's fur. And those things are fucking soft as heck. Also his skin looked super soft too. He definitely moisturized. Freckles dotted his soft looking face. Once again, I wanted to touch it. I kinda wanted to peel it off and hang it on my wall, it'd probably smell bad though. Stop thinking creepy things, Alex. I said to myself. Shut up, me! I argued back at myself. This happened a lot.
We were finished eating after a while and I did the dishes while Chrystal was talking to him.
Once he was about to leave I remembered, I forgot to ask. I ran up to him as he was in the doorway about to leave.
"Hey! I forgot to ask. I never got your name."
"Ah- sorry, I'm Owen."
"Cool beans, well goodbye have a nice evening."
"You too!" He walked out closing the door behind him. I locked the door before heading towards the stairs.
"Chris I'm heading to sleep." I said to my roommate.
"Aww, so early? Oh well, night Al!"
"G'night, Chris" and with that I walked upstairs and laid in bed. I couldn't sleep again. But whatever I'll live. Maybe I have insomnia? That might be it.
I was eventually able to get in a little rest but the nightmares came back.
I woke with a jolt. I didn't sit up. It was like I was half asleep still. I laid there, listening to the music I put on before going to bed. Soon I fell back asleep and that lasted the rest of the night.
