Charles The Fisherman, A Minecraft Tale

June 2nd, 2018

When I spawned into my current Minecraft world, I spawned not to far away from a Woodland Mansion. For those who don't know, a Woodland Mansion is a HUUUUUGGGGEEE building, filled with hostile mods (with some mods only being found in the Woodland Mansion), amazing loot, and.... Interesting wool statues......

I build my "house" (a hole in the ground) near the Woodland Mansion, then proceeded to go about my normal Minecraft adventure. Once I made plenty of weapons, plenty of torches, and a full set of iron armor, I decided to explore the Woodland Mansion.

My story begins after I just completed my house. I decided I wanted to add some bookshelves into my house design, so I travelled to the Mansion to grab some bookshelves I had noticed earlier in my exploring. Since I forgot where the rooms were with the bookshelves, I began to explore each room, one by one.

Just as I turned the corner, I noticed a zombie not to far down the hallway. Gripping my sword in hand and a Totem of Undying in the other hand, I began advancing towards the zombie..... But when the zombie turned to face me, I realized I had made an error : This Zombie wasn't a normal Zombie......

It was a Zombie Villagers.

By this point, I had already lost 3 Zombie Villagers previously; the first one appeared on the first night, dying from the morning sun. The next Zombie Villager despawned when I left it for a few minutes to explore the Mansion. Sadly, I had to kill the third Zombie Villager so I didn't die and respawn back up onto the surface (since I was in a cave and far away from my home. Even if I were able to save that Zombie Villager, I would never be able to get the newly turned Villager home).

At this point, I desperately wanted to have a Villager friend. So, in a moment of quick decision making, I went into creative mode, trapped the Zombie Villager, and used a golden apple and splash potion of weakness to begin the process of curing the Zombie Villager. I know some hardcore Minecrafters are probably shaking their heads at me for using creative mode in a survival world, but hear me out :

I searched the entire map in a search for a village to live in. Sure, I do have a dog and a horse to call my own, but I'm use to living in villages; the villagers always bring a smile to my face with their silly noses and weird speech patterns. Plus the farms most villages come with always provide me with food, so there's that bonus. So yeah, I sort of "cheated" with the creative mode to save this villagers life, but hey, what can I say? I was lonely.

Anyhow! Back to the story!

As I'm waiting for the Zombie Villager to be cured, I begin wondering what to name the villager...... What? This villager is the ONLY villager that's in this world! We're practically gonna be neighbors! So if I need to address this villager, I need to give him a name instead of calling him "Villager". I decided to call the Zombie Villager "Charles", based off of Professor Charles Xavier, leader of the X-Men and Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters.

When the Zombie Villager finally turned into a Villager, I was thrilled! Finally, I wasn't the only intelligent (passive) humanoid being anymore! When I checked Charles trading section, I was surprised to discover Charles is a Fisherman. And thus Charles The Fisherman was born! But now I was faced with another problem. If you have ever dealt with a Minecraft Villager, you know one thing :

Villagers. Are. Stubborn.

Villagers hate moving against their will, especially when you're pushing them away from an area you want to work/build in. But I wasn't going to push Charles a couple of blocks, NONONONONONO! I had to get Charles out of the Woodland Mansion, across a baby stream, over a tiny Hill and through a small pasture to my house. At my house, I knew Charles would be safe. The trouble was getting Charles to my house.

If you guys don't know, if you place a boat near a villager, the villager will hop into the boat. You can also hop in the same boat and row the boat on the ground. This is a great idea for those living in super flat world's, especially if your moving villagers from one villager to another. The only problem with this technique is boats don't jump, so if you come upon a block higher than your boat...... You won't go anywhere.

Using the boat technique, I managed to get Charles out of the Woodland Mansion and across the stream. Now I had to figure out a way to get Charles up the hill. After struggling with several ideas for a couple of minutes, I finally came up with an idea that worked. I use some planks to build stairs; then I placed a stair down and pushed Charles up the stairs, getting him onto a higher block.

After what seemed like forever of placing stairs and pushing Charles along, I finally got Charles to my house. (And thank goodness I did! The sun was setting!). Throughout this entire ordeal, I'm talking to Charles and encouraging him to follow my lead. My mom, who is sitting not to far from me, gave me a look when I told her I had a Villager..... Yeah, she doesn't understand the struggles.....

But hey, now I have a Villager to call my friend! I could be DanTDM while Charles could be Doctor Trayaurus!  😆😆😆😆😆😆
