However, his insecurities lead him to doubt his skills and whether he can shoulder so much responsibility as a ruler.

Backstory: Karter had a peaceful childhood, attending lessons and playing with his sister. He gave up on learning magic after his first lesson went wrong. His parents made sure to join the two as much as they could and soon enough Karter was a member of the Light Kingdom council. While his parents went away to attend to matters outside the castle he took charge. After his parents appointed Anastasia his right hand he had to push down any growing feelings, diving into work and combat training.

Personality: She's a kind-hearted, ball of sunshine brimming with emotions she's not afraid to hold back. She does her best to put other firsts and is always playing peacemaker. Yet her bright smiles and cheery laughs cover up her doubts and insecurities. She's always happy to learn new things and is passionate about her interests, but she worries that she won't be good enough for others or herself.
Strengths: Elemental magic, easy to talk to, and can play the violin well.
Weaknesses: Physical combat, struggles to stand up for herself, and her doubts and insecurities make it easy to get into her head and manipulate her.
Relationships: Younger sister to Karter, childhood best friends with Wren (also likes him), friends with Elric, confused about Maverick and tense relationship with Wynter. 
Backstory: Drew was protected and coddled by her family as she grew up, living a relatively sheltered life. She focused on academics and music. With no sufficient teacher, and her parents always travelling, she taught herself magic. When her parents introduced her to Wren she was captivated and became good friends with him. She would spend all her free time with him and invite him everywhere. She was ecstatic when he was appointed her servant. As she got older she would visit the townspeople and perform for them. When she recognised her growing feelings for Wren she would express herself in letters in hopes it would help her move on but never shared them.

Personality: Elric is a respectful flirt and charmer. His laidback nature and good listening makes it easy to talk to him about anything and everything. Though he struggles to talk about his own feelings and issues. He's serious when he needs to be, with leadership skills and the ability to think on the spot. He's loyal to his kingdom and even more so to those he cares about, always putting them first.
Strengths: Physical combat, can wield any weapon, good listener, and is loyal to a fault.
Weaknesses: Expressing emotions, lack of magic, and will go to great, yet reckless, lengths to protect those he cares about.
Relationships: Best friends with Milo, Drew's personal guard, works with Karter, Chase's half brother, interested in Tyra, tense relationship with Maverick, and despises Wynter.
Backstory: Elric doesn't know much about his childhood. He was raised by his older brother, Chase, while his mother was working for the League of Assassins. When she was away for a job Chase managed to sneak Elric out and find his father in the Light Kingdom. Elric's father was a knight and he followed in his footsteps. He met Milo during training and immediately became friends. He lost his father during battle but didn't give up on his dreams, pledging his heart and loyalty to the Light Kingdom. Due to his skills, and his father's legacy, he was quickly appointed Drew's personal guard.

Personality: Rowan is highly intelligent and can solve puzzles and riddles in minutes. He's always happy to lend a hand to others. But sometimes his kindness and intelligence get overshadowed by the sassy and overconfident front he puts up to hide his insecurities. While his confidence isn't all a front, there are moments where he doubts himself and people's intentions.
Strengths: Intelligent, helpful, negotiation skills, and his magic (when he learns of it).
Weaknesses: Insecure, doesn't talk about his feelings, unhealthy habit of sleeping around, and doesn't know how to fight.
Relationships: Works with Karter and Drew as a servant and unofficial advisor, interested in Milo, friends with Wren, Dylan and Nico, and knows Ana and Ivy.
Backstory: Grew up in the Capital of the Light Kingdom while his parents worked as servants. When he was old enough he became a servant himself and moved into the palace. One of his parents died while visiting another kingdom, and the other left him behind to grieve. He was appointed servant for the royals. That was when he began developing unhealthy habits and started sleeping around to distract himself from pain and insecurities. He met Nico when he came to the castle and helped him adjust to the work. Rowan is known for his hard work and assistance in political affairs, and does his best to ignore any rumours about him.

Personality: Dylan isn't one to care for classes and social statuses but she understands when to respect them. She's a good listener and is always down for a chat with friends and making people smile. She's passionate about her interests, especially cooking, and is always happy to share. However, she has little filter and says what she wants and does what she wants without thinking.
Strengths: Her cooking and food, stands up for herself, and is a good listener.
Weaknesses: No magic, no trained combat skills, and no filter or concept of boundaries.
Relationships: Friends with Wren, knows Nico and Rowan, thinks Ivy and Vienna are cute.
Backstory: Dylan grew up in a small family. They owned an inn and she helped out with the jobs. She developed a passion for the work in the kitchen and saved up enough money to move to the Capital of the Light Kingdom. There she worked some small jobs before getting one in the castle. She became friends with Wren after meeting him and immediately teasing him about his crush on the princess. Since then she's kept mostly to herself in the kitchens and talking to Wren when they get the time together.

Personality: Sage likes to put up a cold front and a tough exterior. But really she's just looking for the right people to soften up to. She tends to be sarcastic and arrogant and grew up in a world where she had to put herself first using her wits and dark tactics. However, she's smart, dependable, loyal, and always trying to prove her worth. She has grown to care about people but will still stab someone if threatened.
Strengths: Magical abilities, trained with a variety of weapons, intelligent and hard to track down.
Weaknesses: Struggles to let down her guard, has a hard time accepting people's friendship, and can react violently.
Relationships: Friends with Maverick and Ivy, acquaintances with Tyra, learning to tolerate those from the Light Kingdom, and has seen Mathias.
Backstory: Sage grew up in the outskirts of the Dark Kingdom. She was kicked out by her parents because of her disobedience to their rules and lifestyle. She used her magic to help her survive and became stronger by the day. When she was confident enough she became a mercenary spy/informant. She worked small jobs before building her name up to then get hired by Maverick.

Personality: Wynter has deceptional acting skills. He disguises himself as a mysterious charmer, with kind smiles and warm words. He hides his true self behind the charade. When the time is right he reveals his narcissism, desire for chaos and lack of emotions. He's a one man show and if he invites people along to perform he does so knowing he'll leave them behind when things get messy. He cares only for himself and doesn't care who gets hurt on his path to chaos and destruction. He's power hungry and if someone has power to match his he'll do whatever it takes to manipulate them to harness and control their power for himself.
Strengths: Powerful elemental magic, acting and charming skills can fool almost anyone, and his lack of emotions make it easy for him to commit his chaotic plans.
Weaknesses: He's addicted to powerful magic and the thrill of the fight, his narcissism makes meaningful relationships impossible to have, and he's not immortal so one good hit could knock him down for good (it's the getting a hit on him part that's tricky).
Relationships: Doesn't care for anyone except Drew (and only for her powers).
Backstory: Wynter was born a psychopath. He lived in a small community tucked away in the snowy mountains. As a child he would practice his magic on wild animals and other kids. But not in fun, humorous ways, but rather dangerous and chaotic ways. He was growing stronger by the day and he was struggling to control his magic. He wiped out his village after losing control. But instead of grieving he celebrated. He focused on controlling his magic and his desire to create chaos.

Personality: Chase has a rather emotionless aura about him. He's not one to delve into small talk or personal conversations. He's smart, logical, a quick thinker and always wanting to get to the point. Other times he's quiet, reserved and attempts to avoid as much contact with others as he can. However, when he gets close to other people he becomes protective and loyal, yet still holds back his feelings.
Strengths: Potion making skills, proficient in few weapons, and is smart and loyal to a fault.
Weaknesses: People he cares about, lack of expression, and affection from others.
Relationships: Older half-brother to Elric, friends and co-worker to Tyra, awkward relationship with Karter and Drew, knew Phoenix and Andromeda from the League.
Backstory: Chase never met his father as he was one of his mother's victims. Yet, she kept him to train him as another assassin for the League. When she was away working jobs he built himself a hideaway where he practiced potions that helped people rather than killed them. When his mother returned with another kid he raised him, found his father and sent him away. Chase faced severe punishment for it when his mother found out. Since then he was forced into more assassin work, and while he despised it he became well-known among the League.

She may appear to have an uptight and tough exterior, but at heart she's kind and generous and always thinking of ways to help those that deserve it.
Strengths: Elemental magic, skilled in archery, doesn't let people push her around, and is a protector.
Weaknesses: Bad at close combat, her kindness makes her trust too easy, her tough independence can leave her lonely, and heat weakens her powers.
Relationships: 6 unnamed siblings, ally to Karter and Drew, some rivalry with Maverick, and knows Nico.
Backstory: While born to the royal family of the Winter Kingdom she spends more time outside the palace and on her own. She's the 2nd child out of 7 and despite the secluded kingdom, her family still worries about titles and names. Most of her time is spent sneaking out to the frozen forest to practice her magic and combat. She hopes to travel and create a better image of her kingdom.

Weaknesses: Puts others before herself, reserved, and doesn't know how to express and herself.
Relationships: Old friend and guard of Anastasia's, despises Henry, knew Esme and Ianthe, and knows Milo, Elric and Karter.
Backstory: Born in the Spring Kingdom, her parents worked in the palace as a knight and a servant. Adelaide started work as a servant before taking up training as a knight. She became a guard not long after Esme ran away and her patrols made her a witness to see who Henry really was. She helped Ana escape and did her best to keep an eye on Henry despite her low ranking position.

Personality: Nico is a quiet and observant person. He's not too social but knows how to hold a conversation, and due to his healing magic he feels obliged to help people and is surprisingly good at comforting them despite his lack of expression. He despises mess, likes things to be organised, and is good at creating schedules and following them.
Strengths: Healing magic, observance and organisation skills, and doesn't let others opinions affect him.
Weaknesses: Doesn't know any physical combat, doesn't like crowds, and won't open up. 
Relationships: Worked with Ivy and Vienna, briefly met Mathias and Maverick, works with Rowan, Wren, Dylan and Anastasia, knows Drew, Karter, Milo, and Elric, and friends with Rowan.
Backstory: Nico was born in the Dark Kingdom and had a job at the castle as a servant. He didn't like the values the kingdom upheld or the treatment of the staff. After Laverna's public punishment against Maverick, Nico pulled together a plan and managed to run away to the Light Kingdom. There he began work as a servant before becoming a royal healer and advisor.

Personality: Tempest is a loyal and dutiful worker who will get almost any job done without question. She never oversteps her bounds but isn't afraid to test the limits. She's alluring and mysterious, drawing people in, with her quiet and reserved nature. She's not one to express much or open up.
Strengths: Telepathic magic, gets the job done without question, intelligent and logical.
Weaknesses: Indifferent to other people and their feelings, lacks knowledge in physical combat and doesn't use their magic offensively. 
Relationships: Works for Mathias, would know Maverick, Ivy, Nico and Vienna.
Backstory: Tempest comes from a long line of mysterious nobles that have always found themselves working in close proximity with the dark royals. Not much is known about the family outside of their work. Tempest caught her father committing a crime in the palace when she was a child - a crime that lead to his death. Her mother disappeared not long after and since then Tempest has been closed off and quiet, staying close to Mathias's side.
Other: Mathias's advisor. A seer. Her telepathic powers allow to her to sense others emotions, read minds, and see visions of the future that could come to pass. Due to her family's history, she's kept this a secret her whole life.

Emberly Dulon

Personality: Emberly is intelligent, calculating and cunning. She's wary of others and is resentful towards her family. She's disobedient and a dangerous troublemaker. She's usually only thinking of ways to kill people. Getting to her nice side is almost impossible.
Strengths: Doesn't let people walk over her or tell her what to do, she's smart, and her magic is growing stronger by the day.
Weaknesses: She's arrogant, full of resentment and hatred, struggles to trust people or let them in.
Relationships: Henry's younger sister, has met Anastasia and Adelaide.
Backstory: Emberly grew up in Henry's shadow and their parents didn't hide who the preferred child was. She was raised simply to be the 'pretty face' of the kingdom. As she got older her resentment for her family grew. She became disobedient, rebellious, and would no longer let them push her around. She has a tendency to cause fights - especially with Henry - and to sneak off and do her own thing. Revenge is always on the back of her mind and a small part of her wishes for the crown.

Personality: Another absolute psychopath. He's arrogant, crazy and full of bloodlust. His version of a game is a hunt. He loves to see the fear in people's eyes and hear their screams of terror - especially when he's the reason for them. He has a haunting reputation and people who see him are said to be cursed to be killed by him - whether then or in the future is all part of his fun.
Strengths: Magic, demon form, uses illusions to disguise himself and trick his victims.
Weaknesses: Direct sunlight, lacks empathy and could definitely not be redeemed.
Relationships: Name and reputation would be known by most people.
Backstory: He has very little memory of his childhood and time before his demon form seemed to take over. But during that time he was abandoned by his parents for fear of what was inside him. Later, he was attacked by a group of bandits. But he killed them all when his demon form came out. He struggled to control it at first but once he learned to he went back to his village and killed everyone. From then on his reputation grew alongside his love of death and torture.

Personality: Ovisia is sinister and dangerous. She's come a long way from her scared, obedient childhood. She has a fearsome reputation and she lives up to it. She's deceitful, powerful, cunning and intelligent. Yet her past haunts her - she's prone to anger and can hear voices. Most people avoid her during those moments. She's not sure if she can feel love again.
Strengths: Her magic, she's a fighter, hand to hand combat and knives are her go-to,  she's strong and has loyal followers.
Weaknesses: People question whether she has a heart or not, prone to bursts of anger, will not hesitate to use people or cut them down if they get in her way.
Relationships: Her business would be known by the bar gang and other characters with similar backgrounds. Maize, Fallon, Jett and Delphine work for her and/or at her bar.
Backstory: Her family ran a small underground business that was one day attacked by a rouge group of criminals and rebels. They killed her parents but the leader let Ovisia live, deciding to raise her as his own - more like a puppet than a daughter. She mostly ran small jobs around the bars, but when she was old enough they put her into the fight ring - as a way to assure people with higher bets won and to train her. When she got stronger they sent her out on bigger jobs and after her first kill something clicked inside her. During her next fight she killed her opponent without hesitation, going after the leader next. After his death she took over, reinvigorating the crime business to her own, and creating a fearsome name and reputation.
